I remember this play when I was in grade school and I am now 46. I absolutely loved it when our church did it. Still amazing to listen to after all of these years.
I grew up listening to this entire musical (our family had the album) through the 80s. Have frequently wished since that I could purchase it on CD. Well, imagine my delight in finding the entire thing here on CZcams. Because of that, I just introduced it to my own children--a perfect activity on this Good Friday! Thank you, Jimmy and Carol, for your wonderful transcription of Jesus' life and ministry, death and resurrection, into music. Food for the soul, and still as moving as it was 30 years ago!
Thank you for sharing this Wonderful Musical! Our church performed this with drama, when the musical first came out, and several times after. I believe this is one of the greatest witnessing tools, because it shares the complete Gospel Message. Over the years, I have sung these songs in my heart, as I do not own any of the music.

Thank God for Jimmy and Carol Owen. I watched the live performance by my London Bible College pals in 1979. Today I bought from an op-shop a two-LP set published by Lexicon Music's Light Records in 1978. It's going to bless even my grandchildren.
I sang this 30 years ago with a huge choir and will never forget it. The words are so incredibly beautiful and the music wonderful. I still remembered all the words - what an Easter gift - thank you!
I was 16 when I was cast in this wonderful cantata at that little Baptist church in Raytown, MO, and there are many times the Spirit uses the music and words to bolster faith, courage, praise, conviction, and even rebuke. Thanks for inviting me to sing with you, Bobby C, wherever you are!

First performed this on Easter Sunday, 1979 at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Wichita, Kansas. Now, as Easter dawns tomorrow, 37 years after first performing it, wow! The story doesn't change. It was Inspired by the Spirit, put to paper by human genius and performed with passion. Just doesn't get much better.
Thank you for posting these. Can't remember how I first heard this album as it was in the 70s and I'm now in my 60s been looking for this album ever since. When I found these I was delighted. God Bless you for writing these.
