I made it to the end .My patience and everything I hold dear was tested in the first few minutes but I hung in there.đ
hahahahah was thinking the same. Wheres this going?
Awesome, your parents must be proud
Dont, take 3+ min to get to subject DONT DO THAT ;)
Hahahahaha
Bro seriously
I disagree, videos are good with a bit of banter.
dfpguitar if I want banter Ill search for Dave Chappelle. These guys arent funny. Get to the fuckin point.
Yess thank you
Those moans make it difficult to watch this at work
đđđđ
Yeah when my mom came to my room I just switched to porn since it's easier to explain.
The easiest way to think of the concept he was teaching in this video, for those of you who might not have understood, is that you should think of your opponent as a tree. What he showed first would be equivalent to someone grabbing the branches and stepping around the tree, that would just turn it. What you have to do is chop the tree down, so your lead hand would be the axe and your head would be the driving force going in the opposite direction of the axe. So essentially you have to drive through your opponent, not around him. Instead of turning him on that support leg, you need to chop that support leg off.
Nice
you spent 3 minutes showing the same (dont do this) movement 4 times before it went to an AD so I left this comment and left.
Hei, bro, he needs the money in order to get these videos out.
I agree. Too much blablabla
have you heard the story about the student who didnt like his teacher, so he missed out on all the wisdom and knowledge that would have helped him.....

Hip in on the lift. Don't forget the hips. The hips, not the arm lifting the leg, move his leg out of the way.
Hi Brian.
Great channel.
Brian coached my son when he was young. My son won Reno nationals and Reno Worlds. Placed 3rd at Tulsa. Won CA state 7 times: 2 Freestyle, 2 Greco, and 3 Folkstyle. Brian is awesome.
Great to hear from you Jon! Saw Jake last summer right!? He looks to be doing well! đȘ
@@TeachMeGrappling Awesome videos! I just watched the one on breaking the 'gift wrap'.
They shoulda called stalling on you for that first three minutes
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł... just a warning! Just one warning!!
thanks for showing how to actually drill. and how to react, i appreciated the small details esp how to correct behaviors
Good coach that really wants his trainee to succeed.
Glad I stayed till the end. Learned something
Great stuff. A lot of nonsense in the beginning it felt like. Just cut to the chase. I know you need to go over 10 minutes, but if you show me the good stuff early I'll know there's lots to watch and stick around. I almost bailed.
hey, why dont you go make your own videos?
@@Vscustomprinting I don't think people need to make their own videos to get the right to criticize. After all the whole point of the comment section is to "comment" on the video wether it's good or bad
TY for correcting my mistakes, Coach!
Best grappling channel hands down
Best double leg tutorial on the web.
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing! You're the man
Iâm gonna start paying attention to those details. Thanks
Thank God I do it perfect thank you brother
Excellent!!! Finally someone shows it right!
Thanks man for all ya vids!
Game changer for me! Many thanks!
You are a great help!
Just what I needed, thanks.
Thanks coach. That swisher was a key detail for me. And Iâll be a better partner for my kid.
Great tips Brian!
Brian! I love your channel and use techniques from it, too! You do something I used to do when I was teaching, but have since taken it totally out of my vocab. When the student does something so obviously wrong....like letss say he they stepping to the left when they should've gone right and you say, "What's over there? Why would you step over there?" I found the student simply responds better if you don't do that. You used to do that sort of thing in your earlier vids, but you've now become more patient on the vids and your teaching is really become GREAT. Trust me, I'm just as guilty and have said that sorta thing hundreds of times in the past. I'm pointing it out with all due respect. Keep the awesome vids coming! Thanks! (Valente Brothers Jiu Jitsu, 1995 start).
Thank you sir!
Try the swicher tomorrow in sparring, thank you coach đ
Good job coach
Nice details, thanks!
This is helpful for people with non wrestling basics so đđż
For people with wrestling background do this blind folded.
Thatâs ironic because I feel like I get blindfolded every time I try a double leg on these Jiu Jitsu people from the world turning black as I get guillotined đ Thatâs when I find someone willing to actually start standing , everyone always wants to start sitting down while Iâm trying to get around them like a crab pinching for their legs to throw out to the side
Thanks Brian. I never get why people try to rush things when practicing. He was clearly not stepping in deep enough
you are a
good teacher
Great vid coach! In the same idea, could you do a video about the proper way to run the pipe with a single leg? Itâs easier with a high-C but I donât if itâs often done in wrestling/grappling/mma.
Thanks coach!
Thanks a million for the informative and funny lesson!
I like his grappling very clever oss
Nick Purler shows the same finish. Swisher your trail leg and look over his back. Excellent finish.
Bad video. Too long, too much irrelevant info. Came, saw and left.
Your hater "get this bitch"
incompetent narcissist... i bet you are a bad training partner
You came, saw, left a comment and then left.
Nobody cares youâre just lazy
I enjoyed it. I just read the comments and skipped 3 minutes. The rest was great.
Great move! đ
Amazing I like your content !!!
Great video!!
Great takedown
I have strong confidence in this
Good tips stay in stance
Very good
Is it normal to feel pain on your knees when you try this and similar takedowns?
Usually itâs a little annoying especially if you have leg hair but if the pain exceeds just some mat burn your probably landing to hard and need to work on some balance
Don't knee the ground. Ram your opponent's hip with your shoulder then land your knee.
Think of your knee like a stone skipping on water. The shot is forward movement, not downward. Buy a knee pad and keep practicing.
I need to switch with this guy
You are Awesome đ .
Awesome
Hey I saw the video and just had to leave a comment thought it was a very informative video and i think you are great with your students. I'd love to to be coached by Brian
GREAT VIDEO; i have been doing double legs for many years and I still picked up some pointers here. Also thank you for stating that learning to be a good partner, i.e. actually learning HOW TO learn, is just as important as learning the techniques. And it is very rarely taught in any jiu jitsu school. I have trained in several throughout my career and have never had an instructor teach HOW TO learn. So far I have only seen to instructors address this: the Gracie Academy in Torrance, California and you coach Peterson. OSS.
Thank you so much for the generous compliment!! đ
Do you have a video on how to slide in for a double leg take down, I have a problem with planting my knee straight down
No one does double legs like the way we âshouldnât do itâ
moving at right(90 degree) angles to your oppenent
coach, there is an option to do a doble leg takedown whithout put the knee on the ground?i ask becouse if i drill as u show my metatarsal bone really hearts.i m 47 years old.thanks
Yes, its often used in MMA because both guys are standing, that said if the penetration step is possible then its better. The issue with the high double is that in wrestling where guys are so low their head smells like their shoes a penetration step is necessary.
This very good video
Served I practice for years lifting I practiced for years takedowns physically
Watched 3 min of you stalling talking about the wrong way. Please speed it up.
nah
Anyone else notice Leo wasn't looking across enough (i.e. still pushing with the back of his head) and it was causing problems when attempting the drill?
Yes good eyes!
gr81disp I often attempt throws, so my doubles are bad, and my singles are even worse! Iâll be working on it, now that everyone has seen my holes. I didnât think it was so bad, but after seeing your comment, Iâm very aware of it haha.
@@Bunta1987qwerty you're a million times better at it than me, I just noticed it because it was the subject of the video.
I think people are missing the point of the video for what i can read on the comments, excellent, excellent video, showing how to properly drill, no matter if you are catch wrestler or bjjer
Can you do a no go closed guard open? Itâs really annoying getting stuck in peopleâs closed guard just getting posture for no reward
Come on guys, there's a fast foward features on CZcams. You can skip around or make it faster. Coach is addressing what he saw in his gym's training session and it seems to be a real common mistake that occurs often. It's important to know both what not to do and what to do. This channel's videos are long, but I like the details.
Guilty as charged. Thank you. (camera was fine)
So how do u finish the double and take out the oppopnents support leg ?
We always drilled doubles following the take down through. It always the person being taken down to dril how to land. (Ie: landing stomach down in wrestling)
Do a vid on the low single
All i remember here is...DON'T DO IT !!
Joey come on man, you are a mile away...
I am just kidding. Thanks for the video.
Cormier says look in line with there far shoulder and driver that way.
You made another video on spinning a quarter turn and slamming your training partner on a crash pad. At what point in the progression would you opt to lift and quarter spin slam as opposed to this finish? Will you be making a future video on this?
coach HAPPY GILMORE lol no offense...great videos coach awesome stuff I love this channel and often I refer to it about techniques
I have a simple question regarding doing double leg takedown in MMA situation. Please don't crap on me for how simple it is. When my opponent has his left leg forward, what are the advantages and disadvantages of shooting for a double leg where my head goes to the right side of his body? Versus the left side of his body? Thank you.
Depends. Right down the middle is also an option just be careful for guillotines
The noise when he goes for the bad takedown ha ha ha
I like him as a trainer. People have diffrent opinions
Coach here in INDIA in street fights 8 out of 10 times the opponent catches hold of your Shirt collar with left hand and will never let go of it and start swinging the right hand wildly. Can you tell us the best way to protect one self in such Situations?
theres a video on this already
Coach - *grabs head* âRelaxâ
In the Other guys head - âNigga I ainât gayâ
The people in these comments have no patience smh
He's right a LOT of do this 2:21
Sound
Lol
Meant 2:22
Isnt the neck exposed. I nees to learn how to not leave my neck exoses when doing the double leg
This guy ALWAYS gets his student nervous, it's like he enjoys it. I wouldn't want to be his student that's for sure, maybe it's an ego thing, so he wants to appear to be so knowledgeable
No itâs not an ego thing at all. Itâs a deep passion for wanting to have the best students. I expect a lot from these guys. It may not always be the nicest or cleanest way to do it. I may turn some of you guys off.... but I will train students into champions on and off the mat.
@@TeachMeGrappling that's good, but you get your students so nervous they can't even think anymore, they don't even know if they should go left or right, I can only imagine how you are in class without the cameras
I hear what you are saying. You donât know what it is like but you can make an assumption from what you see in my videos. It is what it is. If you look for something, often times you find it. Iâm here replying to you to let you know my students have an awesome learning environment and we all have a good time everyday. I canât make everyone happy but I do my best every single day and Iâm proud of all we have built. Good luck to you!
Was this video about the double leg or how to be a good training partner? Lol kidding. Great vid, took a bit to get past the repetitive info but good once it got a few mins in
I also would like to learn wrestling (takedowns). But I am older and have bad knees the can't bend enough and have difficulty to support my own weight.
Also I am taller then most people so going in very low what I always see with smaller people doesn't feel like a smart thing for me.
Do you think there is some place for me practising wrestling of BJJ ? Sometimes it feels like it's more made for smaller people against larger people. Not the other way around.
If I may advice you, if you have bad knees I would suggest bjj to be a better choice than wrestling. If it comes to takedowns you need to focus on throws like judo and sweeps like those that are done in Muay Thai from a clinch.
there are variations of single and double leg that don't have you go down to your knees
At the end of the vid.. The guy he embarrassed was looking at him like wtf lool
Hey Coach Brian, how old are you if I may ask, and how come you don't have any grey hair?
Great videos btw! I've been subscribed to this channel from the early days and some of the techniques helped me alot in developing my grappling game and even helped me win some tournaments. Thnx!
Iâm 41 in a few weeks... I have lots of grey hair! đ€·ââïž
Well I certainly wouldn't give you 41. đ
His Oki is probably thinking, Bro I got it.
Nice job camera man
What qualifications does this guy have is he a colligeate wrestler or a high level bjj black belt this is before watching this video
Show coach
He said uuuuuhhhh đ©
The problem with me is that whenever i shoot for a double leg my oppenant most of times gets me in a guilotine Position how can i get out? (MMA BTW)
I get this question a lot... I will be doing another video soon.
@@TeachMeGrappling Thank you so much my favourite takedown is jit jitsu based (Emanari Roll)
To the right
Start watching around the 4:00 mark for the pearl.
What's the short dude's name?
I loved the tips learned a lot, and i want to hear more on all...Just a constructive criticism keep the teaching of the training partner for another video. Keep the training of the Camera man for another video. Buth those things are important things to know so its great advice but better in seperate videos.
Have you ever tried stepping on your opponent's lead foot with your penetrating foot? I did this by accident once and it pinned their foot down. They were not able to sprawl. It was a sloppy takedown on my part though. I did try it a few more times with decent success. I'm not a wrestler though and I'm sure a good wrestler would have no issue countering my cheap tactic. It does seem to disrupt the opponent's ability to sprawl though.
Who would ever want to be his rolling volunteer? Sheesh.
My partners are either the next best thing to a noodle or theyâre a stiff board that doesnât let me do anything.đI do be kinda bad wit it tho
YEAH YEAHH
