I agree with this rule and this suggestion. If anyone dogears or cracks the spine of one of my books they won't be lent a book again. You can treat your own books exactly as you'd like.
I listen to movie scores whilst reading. My best friend made me 5 playlists that matched my favourite scores with my favourite genre of books. There was Fantasy/ Historical fiction/ Classics/ Romance/ Magical. It was the best gift i've ever been given.
When the sirens were going pass, it felt like the videos/livestreams from the flat when that seemed to always happen to Carrie. Video suggestions - “Do I have that book?” Tag. It’s a few years old but interested to see your answers.
Yeah haha! I lived on a busy crossroad when I was at my flat. And there was ALWAYS something going on. 😂 Ooo I'll have a look! Thanks for the suggestion!
I keep them! Hence why I have 820 books...! I've got a box ready to take to my local charity and some have gone/are going on my Depop but for the most part, I like to keep them!
Oo I would love to see so many videos from you: -24 hour reading vlog? -Or even a weekly reading vlog . -Do you have this book ? challenge. (I think there's two versions). -TBR Tag -reader problems tag -
Hearing people say they dog ear the pages of their books makes me wince 😂 I am guilty of breaking the spines of the books though, especially on books I'm really engrossed in. I don't even know how I manage it. But I think when you look at someone else's book shelves, a broken spine is a sign of a well loved book 😊
What about a "which do you prefer" tag? 1. Romance or Thriller 2. Fiction or Non-fiction 3. Reading at night or in the morning 4. Read the book before seeing the movie or see the movie before reading the book 5. Reading on a picnic blanket in a park on a summer day or curled up under blankets on a rainy day 6. Read each book in a series as they come or binge read all of them after the last book comes out 7. Traditional format or non-traditional format (texts, letters, etc.) 8. Long multi-book series or a stand-alone novel 9. Audiobook or physical book 10. Physical book or digital book
This corner is everything I dream of for my future house! The only thing to improve it would be one of those secret latches that open a door in the bookshelf into an even bigger library 😁
I started reading The Bone Season all those years ago because you recommended it in a video and the 4th book just came out, so I'm reading it now. It is really like we grew up together, even though we were both already adults when you started making your videos. Its strange to think how many moments and important things in my life were inspired by you.
Dear Carrie, as a Bachelor in Book Science (jup that's a thing) I can tell you that dogears in books are amazing! Almost as good as notes in the margins or letters/receipts/tickets used as bookmarks - it gives future generations of book scientists the chance to figure out how people of our time read, what we liked and disliked and what place reading holds in society. Plus, I think dogears look super cute ;)
I’ve been waiting for Carrie to be a booktuber for about 7 years. I absolutely love the theater videos but the bookish videos were the thing to initially draw me to her channel. Some of my favorite book tubers are basicallybritt, brittanythebibliophile, katytastic, a clockwork reader, elliasreads, bowties and books, books with Chloe, emmmabooks, mikaauguste, myonnareads and probably so many more but that’s all I can think of right now!
1. those bookshelves make me emotional let alone yourself! 2. the only way I can read two books at the same time is one audiobook and one physical book
Same! I usually have one audiobook and one physical book I'm reading at any given time, because I can listen to the audiobook doing things that don't let me read the physical book.
I’m one of the people who can read multiple books at once, and I’m reading three right now, but two are collections of short stories(The Bane Chronicles and the complete short stories of Hercule Poirot) and one is a novel that I’ve read before twice(School for Good and Evil) so it’s easier to read multiple at once
Oh my gosh seeing the Diamond of Drury Lane series in the corner of the frame BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES. I had completely forgotten about that book series, but it was one of the things that first got me into history, and now, all these years later, I'm finishing a master's in history. lovely video!
omg I love this video so much! I can’t believe it’s been 10 years!? Also, I love the Cinderella type font with the questions! This video just *screams* Carrie Hope Fletcher! Haha, Hope Oliver, Yourself and Edgar are doing well xx 🥰🤍
I used to read multiple books at a time but I just think that helped me prepare to be an English teacher because I read at least two books for classes at the same time I read my own pleasure book.
Does any one else listen to the audiobook but follow along with a hard copy? I got into the habit as an English major because I could manage the time better but now I’m stuck in the habit haha
This reminds me of when you used to do your bookshelf tours! Still waiting on those, by the way ;). I also missed the good old days of your book background! Lovely to be here for all these years. xx
Yes carrie. We have the exact same habits when it comes to bookmarks or lack thereof. Dogear or dust jacket. But you'll never catch me keeping a dust jacket on if the book leaves my house 👏👏👏
i am a fellow dog-earer! i lose bookmarks too much or they fall out, but dog-earing never lets me down. also carrie this bookish content has me so filled with joy
Just when I was getting all nostalgic and feeling crappy, this video popped up! This takes me back to my cosy days where I read all time without letting life getting in the way and finding other instant gratification from social media. Ah, I need to put my phone down and read more books!
Wow I am so happy I am not the only person who struggles with awkward/cringeworthy moments and have to skip ahead! I even have to do it for tv series and films!!!
Ohhhhh this takes me back. Funnily enough I've been watching your old videos about books lately and they're very comforting, even though I've seen them so many times and I know what books you'll talk about. Hell, some of the books I read as a teen or wanted to read were because I saw you talk about them. P.S - true OGs remember the "cup of sunshine" mugs.
Hey Carrie! If you like ambience and background noise while reading! Try ambient mixer music or any other app like that. You can create rooms or listen to others, and they have all different types of sounds. Examples of rooms include things like “Gryffindor Common Room” or other things like that, it’s really nice if you want some ambience or want the perfect mix of sound :)) x
I found myself nodding along to so many of your answers. I can't read more than 1 book at a time (just don't have the time for more), can't read with music/tv on or other distractions but also don't love to read in complete silence so I will also listen to instrumental music or ambiance videos on YT, and I will sometimes read ahead a few pages to find out how a scenario ends if it's tense/awkward/worrying enough to make me anxious
I always listen to ambient sounds when I'm reading! My fav CZcams channel for fireplaces and rooms is ASMR rooms! They have Harry Potter themed rooms, Game of Thrones rooms, Sherlock rooms and others!!
No I'm sorry, there is nothing wrong with dog eared pages because it is your book you're doing it to! I dog ear all the time and I am a forever believer that it is OK! Also same with the dust jacket. The dust jacket is mostly for display, I can't even read it at home with the jacket on lol
Also (sorry I keep hearing you say things and get excited) the only book that I have in MY collection with the spine broken is... also Twilight. There is no more enthusiastic reader than a teenage girl reading Twilight 😂
It's amazing how much this video made me smile in terms of reminiscing. It took me back to a life a very long time ago in a lovely way. Also, it's hilarious how different my answers are to this tag now I'm a mum. I read when I can, where my baby settles for a nap and I stop on whatever word she wakes up on. If she's happy I may get to finish a page but if she wants to play there's no chance!
I read so much on public transit, as I have a 2 hour commute to work each way. I go through so many books, and am a frequent patron of my local library.
I'm reading three books at once now. Love ittt. That way I can take a little holiday from one story, either because it's too intense or too boring. I like it :)
I use coloured paper tabs in my books! Each colour means something different like a quote or moment I love, a sad moment, a shocking moment, a moment of representation etc. I love doing this and it doesn't damage the book at all but it makes it look super colourful when you have finished the book ❤
When you said, “I dog ear” I did a HUGE intake of breath and you went, “I know! I know!” Felt like a conversation! And know you can read on your big red bean bag! 🥰 Thank you again for your time the other day xx
I love your book vlogs! I used to sit with a notebook while watching them so I could write down the titles. Your book hauls were my favorites along with your bookshelf tour where you would have a count of the books read and unread. I still go back and watch them when I'm in a reading slump. The "first date book tag" is a fun tag and the "netflix book tag" is pretty good as well if you haven't done them before.
Adore those bookshelves and so so so looking forward to more bookish content. So much of my reading time has been for uni books and I feel like these videos are going to have me reaching for more books just for me.
SO excited for booktube carrie to be back xx You introduced me to the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, and The Green Angel by Alice Hoffman, and so many other favorites that my love of reading is built on.
Bookmark suggestion for people who want to use one but worry about them falling out etc. See if you can find a PageKeeper bookmark. I was given one years ago and it's amazing. It's a metal bookmark that you slide onto the back (cover for hardbacks or few pages for paperbacks) and it has a little spring arm that holds down your page and follows along without trying. No reaching for bookmarks in a rush, you can just close up and go. Minor downsides: super large books can be a problem and you have to put it part way through, after a bigger book it might need a touch of stretching in the opposite direction to help it out.
The fact that I’ve been watching your videos for 10 years, seen multiple shows you’ve been in, read all your books to date and you have no idea who I am freaks me out a little 😂💕
Loving the new bookshelves, absolute dream 😍 I love reading with Disney World sunsets in the background not to distracting but I love looking up and seeing Cinderella castle every so often, they’re on Disney plus
Book shelf tour! But specifically about organising them! What order are the books in? Why? Are they categorised? Is there any space left? What books are going first when you want to add new books? How do you chose which stays and which goes? Where dot the “dumped” books go?💔 Any recommendations on how to make your bookshelfs look pretty? Do you go vertical AND horizontal? Or just vertical?
Wow! I just had a major flashback to when I was 16 in 2012, discovering your channel for the first time x what a long way everyone’s come. I’m emotional too wow
aaahh dogearing the bottom of a page is such a good idea I usually just stick a postit in but this is more ecofriendly if i dont have a particular note
So happy to see you back with book content! I would love to see you make a reading vlog where you look at your TBR and read the lowest rated/highest rated books and review them. I've seen a few of these and I think they are so interesting!
6:38 you missed an opportunity there- you said I know three times which would have been perfect if it was sung to the tune of beautiful from heathers 😂
Hear for a good chuck of those 10 years- it’s been a ride and have I loved it. You have given me joy for so long. I love the books I’m such a booktube junky.
I can completely agree with what you said about alleviating anxiety. I hate confrontation and so if the characters put in a confrontation, I will skip ahead to see how it resolves itself. Then go back and read again from where I was. Also I do write in my books but only like self-help books or workbooks not regular fiction stories or what I have you. Anyways so good to see you back in your element I have missed these types of videos so much! I think in honor of your 10th birthday I'm going to dedicate today to reading. Thank you for igniting that passion in me again. Here's to the many wonderful amazing stories we have yet to read in our lives. Cheers! XxX
I was watching some musical theatre clips on CZcams last night and I stumbled upon Britain Got Talent Finale of last year. They did a song from Les Miserable and I said Hey wait a minute I know that girl. I was so happy to see you up on that stage.
What I used to do, but don't really take time to do anymore, was take a pencil to underline interesting quotes in my books while I was reading it, and once I had finished I would go back to my anotated pages and write all the interesting quotes I had gathered during my read in a little notebook. So I have a sort of quotes notebook hanging around with the book title and author on top, all the quotes I liked from that book and then a separation line to separate each books. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who does that but it's really nice because I can just jump back in all the parts I loved from all the books I love in one really practical notebook ^^
I always have 3 books on the go, one in my desk, one next to my bed and one that’s a go book. As in, it’s a book that if I’m going somewhere I’ll bring it with me
Ooooo, one of my favourite CZcamsrs mentioning another one of my favourite CZcamsrs (when they don't know each other) was surprisingly exciting! I've been watching both of you for years, so yay for you finding Ariel, Carrie! She's great. ^__^ Also I kind of miss tags. Not many people do them these days. I'd love to see you do more of them actually, for this reason. :) (Also a bookshelf tour, of sorts. I'd love to see how 800+ books look on your new shelves. ;P)
My rule for dog-earing pages is, "never dogear a book that isn't yours.'
You should do a bookshelf tour.
That is a fair rule!
I agree with this rule and this suggestion. If anyone dogears or cracks the spine of one of my books they won't be lent a book again. You can treat your own books exactly as you'd like.
THIS VID MAKES ME SO SOFT, GIVES ME A LOT OF ITSWAYPASTMYBEDTIME NOSTALGIA AND I LOVE IT 🥺❤
the #auntiecarrie vibes are immaculate
absolutely adore you AND YOUR MAKEUP
you crossing over with my old time fav british youtubers is something I did not know I needed but I really do
Carrie turning into a booktuber is the transformation we all need, but don't deserve
Turning *back into a booktuber lol
Jack Edwards coming up in the recommended is just so right
I never thought my musical theatre Carrie obsession and my study tube Jack Edwards obsession would collide but I’m so glad they did

Those bookshelves are fabulous. I wish I had my own place to do that. It was really hard going to uni and only being able to take a few books with me.

Love the bone season! I’m also rereading it right now to read the fourth book
Omg the Bone Season!! I read that a few years ago and didn’t know the 4th book has come out, I’ll have to read it!
I just started the Bone Season and love it!!!

Hear for a good chuck of those 10 years- it’s been a ride and have I loved it. You have given me joy for so long. I love the books I’m such a booktube junky.
Don't worry Carrie, I dogear books too. Loving all the bookish content xx
This video feels like coming home after a long day at work 🌞
I can completely agree with what you said about alleviating anxiety.
Cheers! XxX
Your bookshelves are absolute goals and it will now be my mission to get bookshelves like that at one point in my life 😍
Can’t tell you how happy I am to have Carrie book content back!!!!
This makes me feel like I’m a teenager again with so much hope and joy...thank you, I’ve missed that feeling
You should check out padded book sleeves for when you're traveling with books! Etsy is great for them. And they save SO many books.
If you have Spotify, there are lots of reading friendly playlists on there 😀 this video brings back so many memories and I love the shelves
I always have 3 books on the go, one in my desk, one next to my bed and one that’s a go book. As in, it’s a book that if I’m going somewhere I’ll bring it with me
OOOOOH OOOOOH I do the same with the dogearring the bottom of a page to come back to something! So happy to know others do the same! 🤓 📖👍
im so happy i found someone else who dog ears the END of the page for the interesting content they want to revisit/remember!!!
Hi Carrie, hoping you are keeping well. Can't wait to watch your new musical :)
Yes can't wait it's like old Carrie!
Cannot wait for the booktube content! :)
Ooooo, one of my favourite CZcamsrs mentioning another one of my favourite CZcamsrs (when they don't know each other) was surprisingly exciting! I've been watching both of you for years, so yay for you finding Ariel, Carrie! She's great. ^__^
Also I kind of miss tags. Not many people do them these days. I'd love to see you do more of them actually, for this reason. :) (Also a bookshelf tour, of sorts. I'd love to see how 800+ books look on your new shelves. ;P)
I am so happy book videos are back😍💛
