Actually this car was styled to look un-excessive
It shows that by the late Fifties, even styling geniuses like Harley Earl and Virgil Exner were running out of innovative ideas.
Size and luxury can't be separated. This car has 10 times the curb appeal of any lozenge cars today.
This car does not appear to have factory air. Lincolns in 58 - 59 had dual AC compressors; the lines ran on top of each fender under the hood.
Not fond of the design of that generation but a nice time capsule.
