So, we don't need a million more guards. Just 30,000 guards plus 3,000 for sick leave and vacation coverage. Add on command-and-control infrastructures, surveillance systems. A total of 40,000 people should cover the manpower need at a cost of about 40,000 * $100,000 per year = $400,000,000 per year labor cost. I think we can afford it.

Thank you Governor Abbott for securing our border and thank you Texas National Guard for doing your duty for making our country feel safe.
Abbot is not protecting the border, and more importantly he doesn't care about illegal immigrants. If he actually cared about the effects of millions of illegal immigrants he would not have bussed them to the interior of the country, and would have done something 10 years ago when things started getting bad. I grew up in south Texas. Spent many afternoons at Shelby park, and even spent some time attending sports in Brownsville. The areas that are razor wired are about 1 square mile each. It is nothing other then a political gesture, and they do literally nothing. Any migrant capable of walking an extra mile is currently taking a quick walk around the parks and going right across to a federal border agent. Look up shelby park on google maps, and you tell me if you still think that is protecting the border.
I want to hear the word treason more and impeachment would be icing on the cake.

Active surveillance and manned interdiction are the only effective way to turn back the walkers if we are willing to fund it. Do the math, 2,500 miles, 3 shifts, 365 days a year. 2500 miles of border, one guard every quarter mile that is 12 men per mile (3 shifts), 12 x 2,500 = 30,000 guards. So, we don't need a million more guards. Just 30,000 guards plus 3,000 for sick leave and vacation coverage. Add on command-and-control infrastructures, surveillance systems. A total of 40,000 people should cover the manpower need at a cost of about 40,000 * $100,000 per year = $400,000,000 per year labor cost. I think we can afford it.

According to military training the world over, wires are useless unless there is a 2nd line of anti-personnel mines behind the wire and a third line of armed sentries. Are we as a country willing to authorize and deploy such measures? The East German found out that the short Berlin wall with guard towers was ineffective against defectors, East German still manage to get across to West Berlin
