Guinness Review - The Gravediggers

  • This one was special...
John Kavanagh's pub, or as most people know it, 'The Gravediggers' is a pub steeped in family history and you can feel it the second you walk through the door.
Never have I felt more pride being poured into a pint of Guinness and the result speaks for itself. If you believe that there is such a thing as the perfect pint, then this is it...
Huge thanks to Ciaran (7th generation Kavanagh) for being such a good sport.
This is why we do what we do, for nights like this...

Went here for the first time on Friday, just to return on the Saturday to spend hours and hours in this pub. It lived up to the hype and more. Absolutely fantastic pub and the best pint of Guiness I ever tasted.

The famous irish term.. "going for a jar" originated in the gravediggers !! Due to a shortness of glass in the 2nd world war, there was a lot of ceramic jam jars in circulation so the gravediggers themselves would have their jars filled with their drink !!

When I visited London I stepped into the No. 2 Rose and Crown Mayfair and sat down to have a beer. I was lucky enough to sit down just as a lively debate between the barkeep and two gents on what makes the best Guinness. It didn't take long for the barkeep to say the temperature and cleanliness. He didn't say the glasses, but one would think that if it is important then the glass must be part of it.
He went on to say " We clean our hoses daily with a brush just like a sweep would clean a chimney, and that's why I believe we have the best glass of Guinness in this part of London."
