      I don't think Knighton is going anywhere faster and I predicted he would fizzle out two years ago when Lyles edged him out and pointed at him. Think about it, at 17 he runs 19.49. The next race he runs losing to Lyles something like 19.68. I don't think he's equaled those times since. Look at Tabogo. He's got a good sense of humor that will soften the down times in the future. Mark my words, he will become an interesting interview if he keeps improving and I think he could very well become the face of track if he closes in on Bolt!

      Absolutely, I think the other 3 on the team are getting slept on a little bit. The overall time was a 2:54.xx. Even with Tebogo's 43.04 split if the other 3 runners averaged 44.00 Botswana would have got a 2:55.04 if my math is correct. Since they were under this time it means that the other 3 (not including Tebogo's 43.04 to bring the average down) averaged under 44.00 between the three of them, & that includes one of those legs being from blocks without a moving start. All 3 of them are close to if not already Olympic/WC 400m final caliber or close to it.

      I did not expect anyone to even be within 50 metres of the US team and I wasn't expecting the silver medalist to be Botswana either. I was thinking it would be UK with Dobson and Hudson Smith.
      They did very very well considering how much global championship experience the US 4 by 4 relay team has. I seriously think if anyone else had done the anchor leg besides Rai (with the exception of Quincy Hall) they would have lost to Tebogo in the final straight.

Though he did PB on all 3 distances this year, all of them in Olympics so clearly he IS in shape of his life. Just thinking there could be potential for him to be WR guy, on both 200 and 400.

      The 100 and 200 and 400 are all about the hype and the adrenaline, you're right. Diamond League and other meets usually get WR's in the distance disciplines.
      Assemble the best men or women in the world in the 100, put an Olympic gold at stake and eternal glory and a chance to etch your name down in history and you will get the fastest possible times there are. Of course there will be folks who run faster earlier in the season like Omanyala and others at obscure meets but that's the exception not the norm.

      @richardgallimore5976 Před 25 dny +1

      @@ashleymusihiwa A 9.9 curve will make the next 100 slower. A curve is also run slower than a straight so a 9.86 100m straight runner can't really run a 9.9x curve, 10.0x at best. Bolt could run a 9.9x curve & still finish because 9.9x on a curve is like 9.7x~9.8x on a straight speed & since he can do 9.58 straight he can run that speed without completely dying at the end. Whether it's Lyles or Tebogo I think they'll minimum need 9.7x 100m speed (so Lyles has gotten there, but barely at 9.79) & then they'll want to do a 10.00/9.18 split to get the record imo. Or even 10.05/9.13. Any split under 10.00 when that's basically their max speed around the corner would end up in a 19.50+ race I think due to not being able to keep the speed (maybe 19.30+ for tebogo has he has better speed endurance than Lyles being the 300m WR holder).
