i almost forgot, wd40 is fine for cleaning the knife, but know that wd40 is a kind of cleaning lubricant with hardly any proper oils in it. It does have alot of solvent in it so beware when spraying. i bought a couple of clones and have been trying lots of sprays/ oils/lubes combined with opening the knifes regularly. i even dremeled a new front catch-bracket that's attached to the spring out of a door hinge when the original broke off and got the knife back in action. i can say with certainty that every knife is unique and requires different amounts of oil. the knife i have now works best when on the edge of becoming bone dry, a couple oil drips too much and it loses power or starts to misfire. and to be honest, OTF's are tricky knives by design and require you being able to solve the little hickups or big problems. You could buy a microtech for warranty, but those knives also have a fail-ratio and if you dont understand the knife you probably are shipping it to microtech atleast once a year. i'd say, get yourself a decent clone and start tinkering with it and get comfortable enough to get the feel for these knives and the mechanics inside

Oiling did the same thing to my OTF gumming it up enough to affect the firing, once I took it back apart and got rid of the excess oil it worked like new again.

It goes against all logic - oiling other mechanical things cause them to run smoother in these cases they don’t - thanks for watching

You can put oil in an otf but you shouldn't put wd40 in an otf which isn't oil. If you have google you can avoid some of these mistakes lol

Yup google has all the answers … the can was there , my knife was there , I was doing Yardwork , I sprayed my hedge clippers, and I thought - might as well spray the knife that was hanging up - made a mistake ;)

You gotta take it apart and fix that. Can't have an expensive knife like that not working. I just got my first Ultratech and love it but man the switch is rough on my thumb. I'm sure it will break in.
