SAF sure knows how to wayang.. 90% of drivers are malays. choosing a driver with an american accent is a hell of a way to boost the image of the drivers in the saf..

      Prove yourselves.
That you are willing to risk your live for this country.
      They will promote you.
From recruit to officer to Potential Battalion Commander.
      Its had happened to me
I was a Chinese Communist Party sympathizer from young,
      By the way.

Not sure if it is SAF you were serving @ Cheung Min Liow
In the SAF, when servicemen of certain other vocations are Corporals already, servicemen of some other vocations are still Lance Corporals, or Privates, regardless of how hard you prove yourself.
There's always that bunch of forgotten soldiers in the SAF that are in the above category, whom combatants just make blanket statements as being 'chow geng' or doing 'easy jobs', when their jobs are simply misunderstood.
I was a General Equipment Supply Assistant (storeman) with the RSAF, all of us storemen of our unit work very hard, just as hard as the combatants, if not harder. We were still promoted slower. We still hear the combatants make blanket statements of us being skivers doing easy jobs.
You may ask, how much slower were we promoted? When the combatants reached their 1 year in service, they are already Corporals. We Supply Assistants got that same rank when we were 4 months from ORD.

@@kohjunwang5 It’s because it is SAF guidelines to have a different promotion timeline for combat and non combat vocations.

@@kohjunwang5 which year were you in service ?
I also work in company qm back in service.
right now is slightly better already .
During my time in service , most of us will get cpl about 4months before ORD [provided you were promoted to lcp on time / met the time of service and eligible for it/ passed ippt for combat storeman(pes fit) / directly posted to unit after SA or watever training]
rmb this because those of us get cfc , will get it about 2months after cpl and about 2months before ord .
so cfc is like tell ppl going ord liao 😂.
      right now is slightly better.
Everyone regardless of vocation will pop as private after bmt , other than commando and diver which will still be pte after bmt but continue Their training.
so im guessing since you get pte earlier , your time of service for promotion to lcp and cpl will be earlier.
i was the last batch that were rec for a few months after pop

This has got to be the best episode of "I'm a Soldier, Sailor, Airman". I love the filming of this episode as it is much more professional than the previous ten episodes and covers more in depth. It is inspiring. It has portrayed transport operators in a good light, and shamefully, most people have had the wrong perception of them. Looking forward to more of these. (:

Hi! Just giving my humble opinion, since I've had a taste of both countries' education systems. I do agree both offer a holistic and excellent educational foundation.
But, we aren't taught to think for ourselves as Singaporean students, nor are we encouraged to think out of the box. Conforming our thinking according to the marking scheme is the only "way to go".
Here in Canada, the freedom to think with reason and logic is what I'd call an education.
    Just my two cents.

Pls do for storeman and CQ also.let people know what the logistic do in army. We went to bme and atec with their battalion and during the mission they need to dig shellscrape, camo. Vehicle, defence, high alert. During MBOS we got our belrex and shellscrape test. But we getting what? Logistics have the lower paid in army because we don't have combat paid but we do a lot of infantry staff if you in combat unit.
We need to do road March also. I holding CPL rank but my paid lower than the infantry pte. I understand the trooper got a lot of training and outfield so they have combat paid but in combat unit when come to battalion exercise logistics also need to do the infantry staff already. How about let the combat cq and store man get the combat paid also when they doing battalion mission. What. Army call us? CSS(combat service support) but we don't have any combat paid even we always support the combat mission and do our own mission. My cq paid is 880(3rd sergeant) and the infantry sergeant when they are cadet they have $900 already. Wow cadet paid higher than the sergeant?

Even drivers get featured, but storemen don't.
It's no wonder that General Equipment Supply Assistants are among the most demoralised members of the SAF - they work tirelessly providing the essentials for the running of the units, yet the whole SAF seemed to have either forgotten their existence, or are of the view that they are condemned chow geng kia sitting around half of the time. They see soldiers of the same batch as them getting CPL while they are still LCP.
Dear MINDEF, time to do something about that, wouldn't you agree?

@zombie766 Singapore is a developed country with a standard of education that is far superior to anything we have here in Canada; or The USA, or Europe, or China and they even give Japan a run for their money on that! As well, Singaporeans is a proper noun, and as such begins with an upper case S. That alone obviates your point of grammar! Perhaps we see you trying desperately to transfer your faults onto others in an attempt to feel good about yourself. Singapore has much to be proud of.
