- Want to see the process of staining a cedar fence? This video shares how to stain a fence with Ready Seal. PLEASE NOTE: That there will be overspray when staining a fence with a sprayer (I didn't mention this in the video) and you should place old sheets or something like that, behind the fence to prevent any overspray onto unwanted areas. I used old sheets clipped to the back of the wood to prevent this, just to make you aware of what I forgot to mention!

People are commenting asking what color and what kind of wood she is spraying. She said both of those things in her video. Pay attention and stop being haters. This is a video of someone trying to help. Not a professional painter giving you professional instructions. It’s a great video showing you how SHE did HER fence. It looks great to me.
I just decided to use a 6 inch foam roller after watching this. At 150 a 5 gallon can i don’t think the air needs to be stained.
Great video. I’ve used this product before and needed a refresher before re-staining my deck. Keep up the great work 🙌
Thanks for posting this - I'm considering using ready seal for a driveway gate and fence project we're about to start working on, but wasn't sure about what the colors actually look like in practice or how hard it would be to apply. Watching this helped a lot!
Thanks for sharing this. It helps a good bit. Excellent job! I agree on the color. It seems different from the color on the can.
Beautiful job!! We are doing our new cedar fence same stain brand and color!!!
Awesome solutions for wooden project is woodprix.
Nice job! Can I use cedar naturaltone stain on micro pro sienna wood fence?
How has it held up after 5 years? I think you may have been happier with the Pecan color with less red.
Great Job! It's beautiful. I love the color.
Thank you! 😊
Does the neighbor need a tan, great video and explanation where overspray goes and how to prevent it thank you
Looks great 👍

What brand stain and color did you use?
@@journeymusic The brand is Ready Seal and the color is Natural Cedar.
How is it holding up or how long did it last? what type of wood was this applied to? Pine? Cedar?
Hi sorry, I'm just comment back. It has been two years and it still looks great. I applied this to cedar.
This Young Lady could be April Wilkerson's Younger sister!
Nice job.
Did you do both sides?
What color you use?
What color stain did you use?
We used Natural Cedar. I have provided a link in the video description.
What is the color and product love it!
Hi! It's Ready Seal in Natural Cedar
Did you used a different color for the gate?
No, I stained everything the same color.
Ok thank you. It looked different. I like the tone the gate took more. I'm about to do my fence and new deck with the same color. Thanks for the inputs
@@AB_thingsDFW The gate is probably different because it is dry and the other is wet. Good luck!!!
Do you still recommend this product? How’s it holding up
Hi, I still really like this product because of how easy it is to apply. I did reapply the stain after three years. You can see that video here: czcams.com/video/wJFw6fX-H0c/video.html.
Hi, what color is this? And brand?
I used Natural Cedar by Ready Seal
Is that redwood color stain ?
No, the stain color is Natural Cedar by Ready Seal
so, how does it look now?
Last fall, I restained my fence because it had been over 3 years and it is recommended to restain every 3 to 5 years depending on your location, and in my location, we have lots of snow in winter and 100-degree summers so it needed a refresh to waterproof the wood again. The stain still looked good but was looking dried out. This time I decided to roll on the stain and I determined that rolling on the stain does get more stain onto the fence but it takes a lot more time plus it was difficult to get everywhere with a brush/roller. So if you want to get the job done fast or have a lot of fences to stain, I would still recommend spraying the stain on because there was not that big of a difference but I guess time will tell on how long the rolled on stain lasts. Hope this helps!
@@TwoFeetFirst did you prep the fence in any way for this new application? You are suppose to powerwash and then us a bleach/water mixture to bring the wood back to natural look. But if you simply sprayed on top of what you already put down, it would be interesting to know how it looks and if it lasts.
Did it bleed trough your neighbors side?
Hi, I wish I had an answer to your question but I am not sure about this because I actually stained both sides of the fence to protect the wood (asked my neighbors first!).
TwoFeetFirst ah ok, thank you... since you said you did both sides it’s kind of hard to tell without checking it. I was assuming you did only your side and see if it went through since you did a spray. I guess I’m going to just do the old way and paint brush just to be safe. Thanks for your help, have a good day!
@@Jomievolution8 it does penetrate through pretty well. My stingy neighbor didn't do his side of the fence {and he didn't share in the cost of the fence either). And my cedar fence is 25 years old and still doing well.
@@gosman949 thank you !!!
Did the fence turn out blotchy at all or uneven? It kinda looks that way in video.
Judy Rogge When the stain dried it was not blotchy or uneven, that's the cool thing about this stain. In the video it does look that way because it is not dry but you can see images on my website of the fence after (link provided above).
Megan Taylor how long has it been since you stained and how does it look now? Has it faded?
Judy Rogge It has almost been about 10 months and the color is not as dark as it was after applying but I do not feel like it has lightened from the dry color. I am curious what a summer will do but it held up amazing in winter.
Thank you for your information. While watching your video and other videos, I'll be looking for a new video from you after the summer!
It is self leveling, they call it goof proof, runs and drips will level out that is the most positive im getting while i do my research, so it mimust do a great jo
Dude could you find a smaller spray pattern. This might work for spindles but they could have finished faster with a 5in brush or mini roller. As far as spraying these products can be sprayed with a $10 pump sprayer no compressor needed.
a hand pump sprayer would need a young wippersnapper like you to keep it pumped up!
Use a pump zero. It is a battery powered pump sprayer, sprays 20psi continuously@@gosman949
Don’t do this on a windy day!
Quick easy access to many projects with Stodoys plans.
what about the overspray? You should put cardboard behind the fence when spraying paint because it will go through the pickets and into your neighbors yard.
exsxpx1 I shared this in another comment but I put an old bed sheet behind that fence to prevent over spraying.
who cares about the neighbor unless they shared in the cost and stained their side of the fence.
Spraying and polluting the air is not the way to go. You can do that in a spray tent. This is not the right way to do it.
That is a fantastic idea to use a spray tent, I wish I would have thought of that when I did this project. Thanks for sharing this tip!
