Janek trying to gain the trust of tourists is a great example of "it's easier to fool people than convince them they have been fooled" 😅
why should they trust him? this is exactly what scammers do, yell at people in a group claiming they have a "better way".
@@DawgFL if they are bored in line why not entertain him and find out if the website is legit, not hard to do
@@kennypowers2341 Because the website could be fake and the interaction could get awkward and messy. Plus a lot of people just don't care to judge what is right or wrong for themselves and are used to following the crowd.

My favourite thing about humans is how much we just join a line, we don't know what we're queuing for or care to look into a better way, we just take the route everyone's taking. I have the privelidge of witnessing this stupidity getting into my work car park every morning when everyone chooses to ignore the second lane!
I noticed this as well at airports and train stations where there’s two doors open to the same hallway but everyone keeps going through the one the first person walks through.
@@shroomer3867Well, at least you then know you're not stepping through a portal to another galaxy.
This also happens in my country when it comes to places to eat as we'll think that the place with longer queues is more popular as its food is better
I read a story about when McDonald’s first opened a store in Moscow. People were queuing around the block. A Journalist interviewed a woman in the queue, asking why she was there? She said she had no idea what McDonald’s was or what it even sold, but she joined the queue anyway because it must be good if so many other people we in the queue 😂
it's the most rational option when you lack information
as a middle aged german, i learned that lesson at a rather young age. regardless where you go in europe or the rest of the world, everyone wants your money.
that's why i always inform myself about prices and the providers of public services. great channel, keep up your great work. it is another form of positive advertisment for your wonderful country!
that includes germany too. I mean just look at the Schufa. Its like the same system just for the germany themself.

the scariest part about scams is how convinced the victims are that they're legit
to would be easier if the address was edalnice gov cz, not just edalnice cz. People think it may be scam because it misses the gov part.
It does make sense to trust official signs to a random guy. Pretty sure the official has been bribed to not put up actual signs
humans are flock animals
it is bizzare but it is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled. It is a natural defense mechanism of the ego. We dont like to think of ourselves as stupid or being prone to be taken advantage of.
nah people are just sheep. nobody wants to go against the grain and take a chance, they would rather take the "safe" option in their heads which is stay where they know they can pay, even if they know its more money in the end. its like how nobody gets up to turn in a test, until one person does and then the whole classroom apparently also finishes at the exact same time.
I wish I had seen this video before I went to Czech! @@DeathStar0420Well the things I can think of at the top of my head are:
Dont use tourist ATMs. They charge more. You can simply use one of our banks machines (at least when you are from an EU country).
Dont buy stuff from people on the street. Especially when they approach you and offer some discounts on "original products". Its always fake trash.
If you intend on buying something go outside of the tourist area. Same stuff will be much pricier in tourist shops.

Just so last week we had tickets for our local „adventure park“ which is also a destination for many tourists. We had 2 tickets but before we entered I realized that too many kids were around and we kinda felt uncomfortable as adults to go in. So we offered the other guests waiting in line that they can buy our tickets for half the price (30€ instead of 60€), we basically handing them out one ticket for free. Yet they were too scared to buy our tickets, we even offered that they give us the money only after they made sure the tickets are real, yet everyone was acting like the biggest NPCs who want to avoid to do something off script during their stay.
EDIT: I want to make clear that this happened in the heart of switzerland, in my 30 years in switzerland I never encountered any scam, probably the safest country in europe regarding scams and crime. Tbh I would reject that offer too if it was in a city like barcelona or milano. Never the less, I couldnt care less about the 60CHF I lost, I just wanted to be nice to the people waiting in line.
And in Centrale, Milano someone asked for help and as I'm used to scammers, I said no and made no eye contact. I saw him later with the cops asking for their help. He was a big African man and to be honest I got scared. Scammers are also usually African around there. I felt so bad about it later.

LMAO I’m from Milan too.
When I take the metro I usually buy a ticket.
The ticket lasts 90 min. But I’m usually out of the transports in 20 min.
Since I feel it’s a waste to throw it away, and since it’s not a cheap ticket, I usually give it to someone in the line at the ticket machine (the ticket is valid for all stops and can be used an unlimited amount of times in the 90’ arc).
Most tourists (Italians and foreigners) think I want to scam them. Some say “no no no, I don’t have money”. Someone look at me with a sardonic smile and say “suuure, and how much are you going to charge me?”
Most times I end up giving it to kids from Milan. They know the drill and don’t treat me as a scammer.
It’s crazy because I’m just giving it for free. There is no catch. Only advantages. And even when I explain I want nothing back, people still say no.
But then, big cities are scary for most people who have never been there… still. Kind of dumb to not take a free ticket.

This man alone is making his country improve
well, he has a whole team. I don't know the size, but I am certain he has someone on camera and I would not be surprised if he has writers and editors working (part time?) for him. He is to valuable/specialized as the face of the channel to edit videos, when there are great guys and girls that can do that better and/or faster, because they focus on their work getting more efficent, giving him more time to be on side or to research.
You should copy the QR code and make huge signs and posters out of them.
QR code T-Shirt
not to be that guy but scanning a random qr code on a poster someone put up is also a good way to get scammed ._.
Thanks guy! You just saved me some money. Also very cool that the minister got on board. -1 for not driving Skoda. We're going to Prague in a few weeks!
Went to Czech Rep. last month (from Austria).. Bought the vignette at the gas station across the street of one of those Scam office (I was very suspicious about their big STOP sign that looked shaddy....) The dude at gas station told me to buy it online (and even helped me like you did in your video)... skipped the 1h long waiting line... That's set the tone ! And didn't even encounter ONE scammer during our 2 days in Prague.. Like to travel during spring...
Thank you for working so hard to salvage our reputation abroad.
This actually happened to me with a tourist place. I saw like a big line of people standing at the ticket booth and there was a small board nearby with a qr code saying that u can buy tickets here. I simply did that and avoided wasting all that time. The board was slightly hard to spot and I was actively searching for an online option so that's probably why I found it.
,, f theqrcode,,, brainless humans.
Good job, man. I can't wait to visit your country 😊.
Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴
I am from Poland, and knowing Czech people I could not believe this cannot be done online.
I bought the vignette easly and without extra fees.
The problem is for Germans though. 50% of Germans dont have Credit Cards, and you can pay those Vignets online only with them. It would be really good if they would let us use Paypal.
@@dioritbajrami8283how do so many Germans not have a bank account? Where do they keep their money then, just lying around at home?
@@dioritbajrami8283 Wait, is that really a thing? That many people dont have debit cards in Germany? Or is it just misunderstanding, because if a Czech says credit card, on 99% he means debit card. We just talk about it as of a credit card for some reason
@@dioritbajrami8283 you guys don't have credit cards ????????
@@user-ru6ht3vs4ggermans have two card, one for online shopping and other one for their savings salary etc,its a scam from the banks, you need to have the second card to buy something online
My experience was, that when my parents went to buy vignette, they didn't know where to buy it so they went on gas station to ask a cashier. The weirdest thing was he actually told them to go to the tourist trap instead of official one, so that may as well be a reason why people go there. Thanks to your video, I remembered this was a scam and somehow after long effort I conviced them, that this place is scam regardless how "believable" it looks like, luckily some tourists as well believed me and went to the machine where you can buy the vignette for the price as it should be
the government should just make proper signs and posters at the border in multiple languages explaining how to get the vignette. The question is: Why don't they do it?
@@qritique Because it is expensive, and it does not stop the business owner from getting a bigger sign, placing it in front of the old one. Also, the road toll is paid anyway, so the country is not the one scammed.
how is this a scam?? its just business reselling vignettes
@@MrOndra15 We have different ethics. Interesting. I couldn't image you point of view before. Why do you see them "just as a business"? I see them as a trap.
@@qritique Have you heard of drop shipping? Isnt that basically just a resell business? I would love to hear your opinion if that would be unethical as well.
Totally true, during my Euro trip in 2023. I personally experienced this myself. I queued for almost an hour to buy the toll. On the second part of my trip I bought it online and was done within a couple of minute.
Thanks for the video.
Very nice of you to help people like this god bless you
To buy a czech vigniette it took me 30 seconds on their edalnice site, very easy and convenient. Great job Janek. Greetings from Poland.
The positive impact that you create on your entire country cannot be understated. I cannot believe that you guys are continuously so proactive in improving the experience that people have when visiting the Czech republic. God bless.
Really nice to see, that your video made a change.

I wish we had someone like you in my homecountry of Greece . You are doing God's work my friend, stay safe .
stay safe from what ? murderers ?
He would get killed if he did this in Greece. The people who hassle the tourists here are Georgian, Albanian etc and 90% of them are killers or did prison for drugs etc. I'm mostly talking about the night, during day in tourist areas for boat tickets etc there are normal people but still you never know who owns the business here so even if the Salesman is a normal person the owner could be related to drug trafficking or criminal organizations.
We don’t scam tourists for tolls, cause there’s no vignette system.
Ok, so Greece is now on my list of countries I will never visit.
@@Shannon4710 did you even read the appropriate comment?
We don’t have a vignette system because the tolls are paid on designated booths per mileage on the road.
The original commenter is quite ignorant, as tourist traps exist in all countries.
So glad I read up on this before entering the country and bought it online. Saved money, time and headache. Drowe past several long ques like this !

It is interesting to indicate that the sticker is free for electric vehicles (and I have one).
On the other hand it is quite difficult to obtain it in this case because the website asks for an "authenticated signature", except it is possible to authenticate your own signature yourself with Acrobat Reader (and of course nobody knows it)
So I was able to buy my sticker online and then apply for a refund when I returned to France, I just had to pay a fee of 75Kč (about 3.18€).
