They have done many homes and they're all beautiful but this crazy little shotgun house is my absolute favorite. Put a smile on my face to be able to see it again.
Chip and Joanna!...this is very, very inspiring!...such a union!..thank you for being an example to many, many couples!...keep going!...Amazing!
From a design perspective, this house is a masterpiece. God is in the details. The iron work: how on the outside it was all vertical rails, but on the interior railing at the loft, it is a grid, which is so much safer for a small person learning to crawl. Not to mention how wonderful the geometry is, and how it is reflected in the windows and other elements. You can usually tell the difference between spaces that are renovated and those that are new, as the new spaces are created from one mind. Usually. Renovations are always compromises between budget, programming and time as they meet and conflict between old and new. Can you match materials? If so, good, if not, what do you do? Rip out the old (and lose the history and rich beauty of old wood, for example)so it's all new or mismatch it? Jo never loses sight of the design requirements and never gives on her aesthetic. The result is something that looks like it was always there and always just like that. Kudos to the two of them - they really do produce amazing results.

This house looks so small from outside but it is designed to be so spacious n big from inside. Hats off to u both for transporting the whole new home n making it a masterpiece a dream house
I had to find this video again, I watched it a couple of days ago, I just stumbled upon it again featured on another channel where this house is available to rent as an Air B& B. Renting for $284 per day.
While there were at it, they could have moved couple of more houses, for a bigger house :)

This reminds me of that 10 dollars mansion where whoever owns it has to tear it down because the city already approved the land to construct another subdivision. Whoever owned the house has to physically move the house or tear it down.
Wouldn't it a lot more cheaper if they just build it from ground up? Esoecially with a house that size?

They said it was 5k to move-I’m not sure if they actually had to buy it from the developers-so they probably got the house for free or next to nothing. Trust me-at 5k it’s cheaper to move than build. I’m looking at a small barn rn and it’s slightly smaller but is going to cost more to build than 5k-and that’s just with a bare bones inside
@@ggaffgaff3072 the house was free from developer that about to demolished all those old houses, so they only paid for someone to moved the house.
I love the OLD....when a person can preserve the richness of the past, there's richness in itself....😊👍💪

The bare land was $30,000 (or $35,000? Not going to rewind it to listen to the exact amount! 😜) plus $5,000 for the move... But, still thinking that having to demolish all but the upright sticks is pretty much building from scratch... Except demo takes longer. And time costs money.
Chip and Joana is a marriage done in heaven making a lot of people really happy. This construction and design is just one of those examples. I mean who are they really?

the design is amazing as always... the method I am not sure about. Also the scale of the house isn't really cohesive with the rest of he neighborhood.

I don't see why anyone would move a house like this! It's tiny and has no charm. Might as well build something new with the needed space and configuration rather than adapt with such a staircase

Oh FFS just let them demolish the old house and build a brand new shotgun shack elsewhere. I don’t believe it cost only $5k to move. Not when you have to take off the roof and all that other foolishness.
