Gad there's one singular question of importance that those in the public eye never seem to ask those with TDS. "IF" in fact a president believed that an election was sufficiently corrupted to alter it's outcome, what would you like him/her to do about it, understanding the short time windows between the election and the transfer of office? Should he gloss over it and allow such corruption to thrive? Or should he try to find ways to challenge? I would really like to hear people's genuine response to that question.

"Oh come on, you don't really believe that..." could be interpreted as "Everybody knows that..." or what's known as an "appeal to the people", appeal to popularity, "argumentum ad populum". I think I see that in everyday life. What it boils down to is that if the person it's directed to doesn't accept the speaker's "point of view", they won't be invited not just to the speaker's own birthday party, but not to the birthday parties of any of the speaker's friends, either. Because whatever the issue is about, they've already all agreed to "believe" the opposite. It's something I think most of us learn to do somewhere around sixth or seventh grade.

Do not know or follow Bill Maher at all. From the clips I've seen of him I have not seen anything that would lead any credence to marking him as erudite. He seems to have a better than average vocabulary which some may confuse with intelligence but that is just a collection of one field of knowledge (language) and it follows another misconception that knowledge = intelligence which it does not. (a dictionary has knowledge, but it can't think or draw conclusions). Likewise intelligence does not equate to wisdom which is another area of confusion in many. knowing HOW to do something for example doesn't mean the person understands if they SHOULD.

This is why in science the scientific method is so important. It cannot work without free speech. Free speech allows our ideas to be constantly confronted. I made embarassing mistakes in my professional life and was challenged. This neutralises the confirmation bias.
It is easier in the STEM because we hold most of our positions with a lesser degree of uncontrolled emotion.
I should point out that if a smart person holds a contrarian position (Einstein and his EPR paradox), the need to fight such a smart person even if he is ultimately wrong, can lead to a greater understanding of the truth. In the case of the EPR paradox, Einstein was proven wrong but that lead to 3 guys getting a Nobel prize. The fourth one, John Bell, is dead.

I think he was the one who was crushed a bit and pepper sprayed etc. I could be mixing up the various injured law enforcement from that day, but it gets under my skin when people are dismissive of that officer’s cause of death. Despite his TDS being near-record proportions, only beaten by Robert De Niro, Bill Maher is actually kinda important in his niche. As long as he's anti-Trump some people on the left will listen to him, and he keeps pointing out when they are being completely moronic about gender, Islam, etc. That's a message that needs to be put out there.

It seems that Maher is a smart wise guy but his mistake was to limit his trusted sources of information and that keeps him trapped and ignorant. This is why when he hears information that does not align with his sources, he is surprised but rejects it.

Perhaps this is splitting hairs, but lets try. I feel the distinction for Trump/Hillary is that Hilary was never President. The power was never hers to transfer. This is maybe the distinction Bill intends to articulate. Going for the jugular on this point seems a little trashy...and he's a comedian. Just saying. xxx

25:15 Well, Gad, I don't have any children, either, and I don't think that whether one has or has not children is a guarantor of one's capacity to maintain deontological vs. consequentialist principles. I will hypothesize that having children has an empirical tendency to swing a person's attitude toward manifestly motivated and consequentialist "principles", and I'll leave you to ponder the ways. In fact, I hypothesize that not having children has some tendency to free one for pursuit of truth in contexts in which someone with children may discover conflicts. One ought to study the situation statistically.
I listen to and appreciate your thoughts on various topics in no small part because of your stance on political correctness and "wokeness". I admire bipedal honey badgers for their tenacity, because I'm not a debater in real time. Even though I'm not a fan of philosophy, I like to think about things (but not forever and ever) before I make a decision. Perhaps I'm just not in the core of your target audience; I applaud in spite of myself, not least because of the way you go after arrogance. Those Greeks, though, used to say, "know thyself". A tougher task was never assigned.

I used to like Bill Mahr many years ago. Over the years, I still like his humor, but I despise his arrogant smugness. I am a former research physicist. My favorite criticism of myself (from others) is, “you change your mind all the time!” Yes. While doing research, I created hypotheses, and as evidence contradicted them, I changed them. I guess I flip-flopped in favor of truth.

Bill Maher is a smart fellow. He's also quite funny. And he's a Democrat but has seen the Democrat party move so far to the left that he almost sounds like a conservative. But he still cannot let go of certain left wing tropes. I think he will eventually. However, when I heard him (not necessarily on this video, as I've not listened to the end), that 3 police officers were killed during the January 6 riots, the co-called insurrection,I realized that he still hasn't learned that the left continues to lie about many things. As Megyn pointed out to him, NO police officers were killed. One, officer Brian Sicknick, died the the day later after suffering two strokes (and at his age and with his apparently appearance of good health, we can speculate later as to what might have caused these strokes). There was, however, a person killed at the riots. Her name was Ashli Babbitt. She was unarmed (and a Military Veteran by the way) and shot by a member of the capitol police force. Sure, she had no business climbing into the congressional building through a broken window and should have been arrested. But shot? That Maher is unaware of this whilst still spreading the lie regarding the deaths of three police officers tells me that he has a way to go before he is completely awakened from his remaining left wing bias.
