The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee hosted an Iftar at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (July 15, 2015).
In his Ramzan message, the President said "Ramzan, a month of blessings and forgiveness reminds us of our duties towards the poor and less-privileged as well as the need for charity and generosity towards all. Let us during this holy month pledge to spread love, affection and mutual trust among all. May the spirit of Ramzan instill in each one of us a sense of unity and pride in the composite culture of India”.
Dignitaries who attended the Iftar include Janab Mohd. Hamid Ansari, Vice President of India; Shri Rajnath Singh, Minister of Home Affairs; Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information and Broadcasting; Shri Najeeb Jung, Lt. Governor of NCT of Delhi; Shri Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of NCT of Delhi; Shri Mufti Mohd. Sayeed, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir; Smt. Sonia Gandhi; Shri Sharad Yadav; Shri Sharad Pawar etc.

Look how rajnath singh affectionately asked Shiela dikshit to sit next to him, though they are bitter political rivals and also in very next frame, Arvind kejriwal is greeted by Shiela dikshit, with lots of warmness, though she was defeated by the same man in delhi elections, after being CM of delhi for 15 years...The celeberation is not only for the pious moth of ramzan but also for the vibrant democracy we live in where even political rivals acknowledge and respect each other.
Try to look another side of coin.
Thats why corrupted criminal leaders , political persons never sent to jail or no actions are taken,as they all are working in same field , they all are friends by mutual consent as they all are enjoying and having thousand crore of properties from tax payers money and resources of India.
They are seen false bitter enemy in front of public.

People giving Gyan of appeasement politics should understand that in iftar parties Diplomats from various countries also comes and this helps in building ties with nations and projects India's soft power.
Sometimes these events have their own strategic objectives in foreign policy.
So according to your gyan, iftar becomes an important affair but other festivals are not a correct occasion to gather , enjoy and discuss important things ??
