Here are the 3 tips and the prompts to use ChatGPT for your Etsy shop:
1. Shop Structure
- Prompt: Use these keywords to write me a short two sentence introduction that I can use for my Etsy shop: [your shop name], [niche], [target audience].
- Prompt: I enjoy [describe your creative process] coming up with designs that will resonate with customers for themselves or as gifts for others. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family. Write me a two sentence summary that I can use for the about section of my Etsy shop.
2. Listing Components
- Prompt: Use these keywords to write me a listing title that maximizes the 140 character limit for an Etsy listing, use a long tail keyword phrases starting with [your strongest keyword].
- Prompt: Use these keywords to write me a short product description with two sentences for a [product type] [niche].
3. Product Design Ideas
- Prompt: Give me 20 funny or snarky phrases for a shirt or other product design that only a [target audience] would understand.
- Prompt: Give me 20 design themes I could use for a [product type] for [target audience] who also enjoy [activity or hobby].

Interesting. My way of writting titles, is using the first words to describe what product i'm selling. I've come to that conclusion, because i've put myself in the position of a customer and searched for various products that i would like and i saw titles that first were describing the subject of the product instead of the product itself (which is the most important) and also the photo didn't really help, so for example i was looking for metal wall art and i clicked on something that i liked and it was eventually an SVG digital download. That was really frustrating, trying to find what i wanted. So for example, if i was selling T-Shirts, i would definitely start with the words "T-Shirt" and then the subject of the design on the T-Shirt, writting though a normal sentence. Not short phrases separated with commas, because that was another thing that made it hard for me to realize what people were selling. For example if i was selling a T-Shirt with an 80s retro design of a supercar on a road by the beach, it would be something like this: "T-Shirt with an 80s retro design, of a supercar on a road by the beach". No capitals in the middle of the sentence, no repeating words, just a simple title, so the customer would instantly know what the product is as they were scrolling. Because i've noticed from myself that while i scroll, i don't spend time pausing for every product, reading the whole title. And capitals here and there, repeating keywords, dashes, etc, make it harder for me to read it without pausing. A normal sentence is always super fast to read. Sorry for my english
Love this video! You're so great at teaching, thank you Mandy! I have a question. After I make a sale I usually message the customer right after the purchase to thank them and then after they've received their item and the review window is open I message them again to ask how they are loving their item and if they would kindly leave a review. I get so mixed up on which ones I've messaged and have to go back and sift through all the orders. Do you happen to keep track of this on a spreadsheet or something? I'd love any tips, I have a feeling it's only going to get harder to keep track of as my shop grows. Thanks!

I wanted to ask what you say about putting up a Halloween listing now that the holiday is already a month away?
I would move on from Halloween. Instead, focus on building more listings within specific niches (professions, hobbies, etc). Within your niches you can then have a mix of both Christmas and evergreen (non-seasonal) designs.

The phrase is actually just under application stage. You have to look for a registration number for it to be a fully registered trademark. Lots of people apply for them but they don’t all get approved. Given the sheer volume of products already on the market with this phrase I would be shocked if they approve it (or that people haven’t appealed it), but stranger things have been approved! 😅 In the meantime, totally fine to use!

What would you do for a title for matching outfits for dogs and people? I am having so much trouble with that. I don’t really even know how a person would search for that, in Etsy, or even Erank.
Niche down and make them for specific breeds and then focus on the ideal buyer (so let’s say it’s for matching shirts for a doberman and their person). So: Doberman dog mom matching pet shirts, gift for dobie owner, doberman pinscher dog lover
This will make sure you show up in searches related to specific dog searches (which do really well) to then catch the attention of specific ideal customers (who may not have even thought to go with a matching option but will now see it!)
I started my first shop two months ago and still wondering how to compete in prices. Sweatshirts 18000 selling at $18.84 with free shipping. Would be nice if you can make a video regarding this issue. The same sweatshirt I can sell at $27 and need to charge shipping too and after all deductions I have a profit of $2. Thanks Mandy

Don’t compare your prices to others who have different strategies and are likely handmade. Focus on research and building your expertise on creating designs that resonate with a specific customer. Good designs will sell, it should not be a race to the bottom 💜
