- This is an end game strategy, be wary of spoilers! Using a combination of items and specific blade setups, you can farm over 120+ legendary core crystals per hour using this tactic! In this video, we use Overclocking Bangles, Gold Chips, Beta Scopes, Fast Switch Aux Cores, and the Driver Combo to farm legendary cores from the Relentless Arduran or the Reeking Douglas at the end game. This guide shows how to get each required item and explains some of the troubles you may come across in a quick and efficient way.
Time Stamps:
1) Driver Combo Cycle and Concept (0:36)
2) Monsters to be Farmed (1:33)
3) Gold Chips (2:35)
4) Overclocking Bangles (3:26)
5) Beta Scopes (4:07)
I hope this video helps you hunt down those rare blades in Xenoblade Chronicles 2!
Thank you for watching! Stay tuned for the next one.

UPDATE: Patch 1.3.1 fixed this method to restore it to its former glory! Grind away my friends!
WargasmicGaming
Yeah!
Thanks so much Wargasmic! Quick question as someone who just completed the game. Would you recommend this a good place to start the endgame or perhaps attaining max level? Thanks!
WargasmicGaming a question:
I started the NG+...Now i am finishing the game again.. can i restart the game again as a NG++? Or i can do it just once? Thank you for the answer!!
Olindo ventotto you can play new game plus as many times as you want. Won’t be ++
PlayerOne Lycren and all my gains Will remain?
Wow, no wonder Arduran is so angry. All you fed him was a bunch of freaking charcoal stumps.
The first legendary core i awakened was a common blade.
D3 Gaming ‘twas all 60 or so that I opened. Compared to some of the poor souls that I’ve seen in his comment section, I was lucky to get all my rare blades in about 700 cores total- commons included.
D3 same
Nice
same then ursula then i died because that quest
I just now awakened a legendary core and guess what that darn common said "HEY YOU JUST WASTED YOUR TIME LOOKING FOR ME ONLY TO GET A COMMON CAT RING BLADE"
This is probably the best core crystal farming guide I've seen so far. Too many guides either tell you to farm common/rare cores from Krabbles or don't go into enough detail, this video hits all the bases. Good job!
Thanks! The Krabbles definitely have their place early, but when the grind starts you gotta go big :]
For added referance the *Beta scope* is easily obtained from a level 75 bat unique monster in the gormott province, fast travel to zenos deadbole and go northwest to a cave to find it
Thanks pal
Thanks
honestly for the gold chips, if you're already high level i would recommend farming the vampire bride marion you can use the driver combos to get multiple chips and it's easier to respawn it from the tombstone.
Where is it?
Uraya. Go to the head and teleport to Cataracts of Rujah, walk straight, past a few bugs. You'll see it as you walk in, its a giant bug.
Thank you
Good stuff. Easily the best video I've seen on legendary core farming. I slaughtered that arduan on first sight but managed to obtain my last blade kosmos by farming that bastard Douglas!
>Giving time stamps at the start of the video.
I LOVE you for that!
I love the rare blades but it sucks how some don't have their element mastery
Found that out with Agate last night. Super annoying for field skill checks.
@@Matadurr I swear none of the Rare fire blades null Pyra and Brighid have Fire Mastery
Arhg, finally this is most decent guide EVER! Very helpful and keep up the good job like a sir! lol
I'm part of the nerd squad who only got this game because of smash. I just gotta say, this is a pretty awesome YT video, you explain everything so thoroughly and effectively, its super impressive.
thx a lot
I just got into the game and I'm loving your videos.
(LATE GAME LOCATION SPOILERS AHEAD)
Another tip, for finding Fast Blade Switch V Aux cores. If I remember correctly you can get 3 free ones that I know of.
1. Merc Mission "Mysterious Life form" Tantal. 2. Chest just before the end of the long platform, left side (World Tree>Mid Level>7th Perimeter Skyport). 3. Chest at the end of the street, don't remember which end (First Low Orbit Station>Upper Level>Hill Overlooking Elysium). Hope that helps, please correct me if I am mistaken :).
dude your videos are helping me out a lot thanks my dude!!!
Awesome guide, thanks!
Works like a charm for me. Thanks a ton! I just had to be sure to remove a special from Poppi that gave her a topple ability because Tora kept switching away from his launching special to try to topple after he broke them, but Rex had just toppled it. It kept happening and was frustrating. Plus, Rex won't freaking launch for some reason with Agate, but it doesn't matter because this way they alternate almost perfectly. And I find it hard to get the rubberband method to pick up everything I need, so I'm sticking to manual, but it's not bad at all. Thanks again!
Great video man. I will be doing just this.
Followed this list. Got Kos-Mos (final blade) after 10 legendary cores. Of course I was holding every dark common blade in existence so that probably helped in some kind of way. Going to get 99 legendary and 99 rare before I get into New Game+ and the DLC blades. Thanks a whole bunch.
I actually received a legendary beta scope from a Vay Toas. Good guide. Helped with getting that monster to level 99.
Thanks for this great video 👊👍
Kind of annoying they didn't just give you the ability to swap core chips in and out rather than overwriting what you've got equipped, the gold chips are a pretty big downgrade for me, but farming my last blade (Agate) is taking forever.
I totally feel you. The reason why I used Tora as a 3rd with gold chips is because I spent all my good chips on Morag XD! Common blades are always an option!
Surprisingly enough my last blade was Zenobia, KOS-MOS was the third out of the final 8 I needed
Agate was one of my first blades soon after rescuing Nia but before the first Mórag battle
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. After I burned through all of the legendary cores I got with the expansion pack, I felt helpless
Now I have that accursed Android and can mark this as complete, cheers to you!
Ended up trading the Uraya bard in NG+ for Legendary Cores.
I just got my last remaining rare blade just minutes ago! :D
Awesome! Thanks!
Love the video, you explain it so good
One question, what blades do you recommend for the others party members?
It works! As I am level 75. I have to do it against MK. VI Gerolf. Thanks dude!
Love the game and thanks for this video
THANKS SO MUCH, DUDE. Within 20 min. I was able to get 13 Legendaries and 33 Rare crystals.
Because I only used 2 gold ships, that is. But even so I got those crystals very quickly ;)
Thank you for this awesome tip! But can you list on what blades my party should have for this farming? Also what equipment besides the one for rex and the party?
Thank you SO much
*Its probably going to be that Emeru Tut Relentless Ardun that I killed by accident in the beginning of the game.*
I havent even watched the video yet
no haha F. I almost killed that by accident. I’m so lucky
I killed it too.. i hope it respawns in new game +
I was legit about to start up this guide again but I literally just pulled Kos Mos from a rare core. Im only on chapter 8 I am so happy I dont need to grind core crystals again.
Leonine Sadie in Temperantia is only level 95, and drops legendary cores very rapidly just like Arduran. if you cant be assed to feed the ardun, maybe you already killed it, or youre too weak for Reeking Douglass, go to southeast Temperantia.
Reeking Douglass has very low hp, and youll spend a lot of time respawning him, then killing him in 2 or 3 combos. Leonine Sadie has millions of hp, and spawning her once can be a 20 minute battle of nonstop core grabbing!
god tier guide
KOS-MOS was actually one of my first 5 rare blades... I'm still missing Newt, Finch, and Vale.
James Marino I have all blades except KOS-MOS. Feelsbadman
You have my deepest condolences.
Finch and vale were part of the first three I got early game, the first was Kora
The most insulting thing for me is I KEEP SEEING NEWT'S SILHOUETTE. It's so frustrating seeing her shadow appear and just never getting her. Missing her, Dahlia, Gorg, and Agate.
Lucky man! I'm still missing Kos-mos, Vale and Zenobia.
You can also put Treasure Sensor V on all of your versions of Poppi. It doubles the enemy item drop rate (100%)
Just wanted to say, this is a fantastic guide. Normally I dislike these videos ever since GTA V launched, cause everyone and their mother wanted to be the "Hey guys, like, comment, and subscribe" tool, but this is is very very well done.
Weird thing is, Tora is like the only one of my party members that actively switches his blades to do the full smash combo while the others focus solely on using only a blade for an element combo so sometimes tora will do a smash combo by himself as soon as the enemy is broken
Excellent guide ! As of 2023, I'll add you can also farm Gold Chip with the unique monster "Vampire Bride Marion", which I consider more efficient because she has more hp = more combo, can also drop rare / legendary core in addition, and you can spawn her at will with her tombstone !
Where is she at? And what level should I be to fight her?
Got all the stuff together and spammed Relentless Arduran for about 10 cores, my third one was KOS-MOS..... Thanks!
I am fighting against zeoths, but I don't have any gold chip, is this method available right now?
Cool! I'm around eighty, so I'm doing that to Vampire Bride Marion
. It's good ´cause it drops the gold chips I need, plus Legendary Cores, also, it's a unique monster so it takes a while. I also read through the comments and am gonna try the cloud save thing.
Thanks a lot!!!
Need some help, i have been 1 hour farming gold chips and i just got 1. I always finish with chain attack and i have equipped the comet choker for every one. Is there anything im missing? Or is just the gold chip drop that s**ks?
Keep on with your vids mate :)
That's a bit shocking! It was a lot smoother for me. I would say make sure you install your Gold Chips as soon as you get them. There should be an exponential increase in drop rate as you get more chips. Once you get a few, they should be droppin' like candy. Perform the Driver Combo more often as you kill them and that could help, as you force item drops after the end of every driver combo! And thanks :]
WargasmicGaming, thank you very much!!! Andd Happy New Year.
I just figured out my problem, i was just stacking orbs and chain finishing the mob. Now i break, topple, launch and smash oftenly and i get 3 chips from a single mob. Took me 10 mins to gather all 9.
Alvaro Benito Ortiz why did you censor suck LOL
I did find my own method of farming. From what i can tell, whenever i use chain attacks and get an overkill while bursting orbs, i am guaranteed a rare core crystal and sometimes even a legendary core as well. I dont know if what i had equipped helped but it worked multiple times. Legendary cores vary but rares dropped frequently each time.
Dunno if you're gonna see this 5 years later but do you remember which enemy you farmed for guaranteed rares?
@@Diamond_2403 I remember it was unique enemies. They tend to drop rares or legendaries more often than any other enemy. Enemies that are higher level also have a chance to drop rare cores as well but is not guaranteed.
Using the break, topple, launch, smash combo is the common farming method but drops are random. Uniques grant the highest chance. There's an Armu you need to nurture and grow and once it reaches full maturity, it becomes a unique and then becomes farmable. It's an end game farm however.
first of all i have to say that the guide is really good and it helped me in the beginning, but i found that for me farming cloud sea king ken (giant squid lv114, great pillar passage at foggy weather) worked way better. i made around 8-15 legys per run + all the moonmatter chips, only draw back is the he is of course way stronger(started arming him at lvl 85 w rex nia and morag), but that just means u can get more smashes in. i also have the feeling he has a little less breack resistance then dougless (that being said i have 2 legendary beta scopes). One run with him takes a little longer but if u allways keep ur blade combo on and get lucky with the break u can basically keep smashing him all the time without him giving you to much trouble
Dang,so in the end you should complete the games first...
But thank you, theres many great tips you gives in this video too
How do you get the right blades on the right drivers? like what if i get a healing blade on not Nya? Is farming the core switch item thingy the only way?
I played XB2 now around 90-95h and i'am in the World Tree right now... and damn me i killed the stupid Arduran... besides that i missed out of doing all the indol stuff... now i feel like i screwed up big times. Is it worth to Start Over or isnt that stuff not that important? I mean i could probably finish the game and wait for the New Game + Update or not?
Malicious Dimitri in Land of Morytha can also drop Legendary Core Crystals through Driver Combos. I got quite a few since Jin can preform Driver Combos on his own.
too bad he's temporary
@@arikaaa69 No, play in Torna and you can use him 24/7 to get legendary cores!
@@nintendofire622 yeah jin is permanent in Torna, but how does that help me get legendary cores with him in the main game?
@@arikaaa69 I'm joking around!! Homestly I'm struggling too, but I've found that if you dont feel like doing too much to farm, killing the Insectivore Malcom in Gormott a few times can get you a couple good core Crystals :)
I thank you for the guide but he thing is, i’m only in chapter 3 and i cant get these items or do anything you said so can you make a video like this for beginners? I would really appreciate it.
Is there a good way to lvl up? I'm at lvl 76 now and that farmable monster is lvl 99. I've had my ass handed to me enough times....
Almost finished a video on this topic to be up this Saturday! Until then, I'd recommend you level from 76 to about 81 by fighting the Tirkins in the Lower Level of Tantal. I believe they are located on at a landmark location just Northeast of the Central Ether Boulder. Maybe it's called the Lumos Pedastal? Forgot :S But then go for the giant T-rexes in Temperantia until level 90!
WargasmicGaming Thanks! Will look forward to the video too
Nobody here is gonna believe me but my first rare blade from a core crystal was COS-MOS on my first playthrough. I’m in new game + now but if I sort through my blades chronologically on the Manage Blades screen, from the very bottom it goes Dromarch, Uzuki (my common knuckle claws blade), Poppi Alpha, and then COS-MOS. I have no other friends to brag about this to because they’re not into Xenoblade so this has just been burning a hole in me because of how cool this is and I just need to tell SOMEONE.
Do you recommend I beat the game first, then try to get all the blades, or blades first, then story?
the seprond don't seem to drop any items for me, so far i only got a laughable amount of money. I even decked my party out with luck boosting stuff, not even a common core so far
Nice haruhi suzumia outro
What do you recommend for farming monster for lvl 80
So far I've been using insecticide Malcolm
What monsters would you recommend around Level 60+ on Chapter 6 or so? I'm only missing about 7 random Blades, luckily, though two of those are ones I really want (Adenine and Ursula). xD And I'd rather not wait until endgame/postgame just to get some more, if possible. But I'll take it as I go...
Chapter 6? How are this high leveled?
^ just do the quests and rest at the inns. I was level 58 walking into Tantal for the first time.
Make sure you cap out on cores even after you get every blade to be already set for the new blade dlc
Okay so just a quick question, but does having Pyra out nullify the effects of Mythra and any chips, aux cores, etc, or is it like the field skills such as where Pyra's cooking can be used even if Mythra is active? If it is the same case as the field skills, then you could have both blades equipped with gold chips and aux cores, or even have Pyra with the gold chip while using Mythra for the arts refresh for continuous topple capabilities? Has anyone confirmed this or is it just speculation?
when i farm with Mk. VI Gerolf, at lv.3 Alioth in the world tree, he didnt drop legendary cores, could it be becouse i have only 8 blades? Bc i use Tora, but i haven’t poppi’s final form.
I have a question guys
A gold chip increase the chance of drops by 50%, but the Poppi RAM treasure sensor increase the chance by 100 %.
Do they also stack with the others, then it would be more efficent.
Thx for the answer :)
Great guide for people who are at level 99. I'm at level 65 so I guess I'll wait
Did 1.3.1 fix the drop rates back to pre 1.3? I just used this method a few minutes ago, and I got more Legendary Cores in that run than I have in weeks.
Just got my second to last Rare thanks to his method. As for KOS MOS, yeah I’ve given up hope of ever getting her. Might as well have a 0% appearance rate with my shitty luck
This is definitely the best method I've seen. I went into the battle with 21 rare cores and 0 legendary. I just set up seal stench (I don't know how much it mattered because I still don't even know what stench does, I just know its breath attack was annoying and it had stench.) and driver comboed it until it died and left with 99 rare cores and 39 legendary cores.
DaOrangeJuice Basically Stench os probably the most worthless debuff in the game, all it does is make your blade move away from you, but for some reason, the distance they move away doesnt even matter for affinity distance
It’s supposed to make you be unable to use specials since you have to have an affinity link with your blade to use them. However it’s kind of bugged at the moment, so the affinity line distance increasing items are just extra money in your pocket.
IIRC the effect of gold chips only kicks in if the blade that has it equipped does the killing blow/smash art, so i don't think you need it on every single blade in your party
I got the gold chips I needed, as well as the overclocking bangle. For some reason, I can't get the multiple legendary core crystals to appear. Maybe it doesn't work for everyone.
The ardun is not getting break and I'm using one legendary break and two rare break is legendary a must?
I remember hoping to get vale and my friends laughing about how if I want vale i'm going to have a worse time getting kos-mos when lo and behold kos-mos summoning happened. They stared and I screamed I don't want you I wanted vale. (was back in ch. 9) Beat the game opened a core I got from the final boss and got T-elos, immediately opened a second one and got vale. Then burned through 70 ish rare and 10 ish legendaries and no floren and nim. Oddly got Zenobia and ursula in ch. 2.
1:00 Viewing this from near the end of Chapter 6, how does Rex have Pandoria? Isn't she linked to Zeke, and unable to be delinked (e.g. to go on Merc Missions, or replaced with another Blade)?
Is this NG+, which I *know* removes this linking?
There's a point where Rex gets the ability to engage any blade, including the character-exclusive blades. If you engage one of those blades, it frees up that slot on that character, allowing them to have 3 of any blade they are bonded to.
For me, AI Rex kept taking aggro from AI Tora and dying. With the controller set up, Nia missed a few legendary cores. In the end I let Rex and Tora do their thing, collected cores with Nia and, healed Rex when needed. If you have cloud back-up via nintendo online member ship you can save scum core awakenings. Just make sure you disable auto-back-up. My last three blades in order were Adenine, Ursula and KOS-MOS. (early-mid chapter 9 but that doesn't really matter).
when you finish the game does it just reload and just gives like a star next to your savefile (like uin the style of zelda botw) or does the post game actually happen in the way where the world is actually saved and you can talk to malos or stuf like that???
(I'm at the final boss right now and can't beat him tho)
you asked so i’ll answer.
No there’s no post game you just get sent back just before the final boss. Although after you finished the game more unique/higher level monsters become available in the game titans.
And yes you get a star. xD
If you can’t beat it try to make a team setup to allows you to get a lot of orbs on it fast,
You can call for pneumonia 2x once before and once after the cutscene.
If you are able to get 4/5 orbs you should be able to kill it.
thx.. every time I die to Aion's *PROMFEUS* (the giant ball of fire that just 1 shot's my full team)
and no I don't know how to spell it
Don't forget you can actually have 10 gold chips equipped as Pyra/Mythra both count as active blades
Can you please show your party in detail? I'm working on getting the items on your video but what are the other items you have equipped? Do I have to wait till level 99 to try this?
In general, the items I have showcased are the most important! You can just throw other random items on to help you stay alive and fight. Players in the late 80's should be high enough level for this if they are careful, but being in the low 90's is more likely the best place to start.
I am in the stretch for my last rare blade. Obrona will be mine soon
About Gold Chip, if I put it on Pyra and use Mythra instead, does her gold chip bonus activates?
Also Zeke can break and launch too with Ether Cannon and Greataxe, is it ok to use him as well?
You've probably already figured it out/settled on what to do but, Adednine has a similar effect through her passive, which people have figured out does not activate unless she is actually out in the field at the time of the smash/kill- so you can assume that the same goes for Gold Chips. That said, everytime you switch blades you get your cooldowns back so you could have Pyra set up with a Gold Chip, and Mythra set up with stronger chips- that way you have a blade for smashfarming, and a blade for actually killing the boss (Mythra) without wasting chips swapping back and forth inbetween fights.
Ventus S no pyra and mythra have their own separate builds so if you want it to work with both of them you will need gold chips for both of them
This is really helpful, but I killed that little bastard when it was 1LV LMAO
that outfit makes rex look like mega man x
On my first playthrough I only miss kosmos, then I gave up and started a new playthrough and got her as my fifth resonation
Unfortunately for me, i can't equip any gold chip because i am in NG+ with some of the best end game chip on my blades. I don't think replacing core chips give me back the one the blade were holding. So, for some of the new blades, i may just have to farm the ardun as best as I can or just chain attack it to kill it. ANother good way to farm legendary core is to go to gormott and use the lv 75 UM vang. He is super easy to kill and drops legendary cores semi regularly, especially with the gold chips. You can also farm gold chip from the vampire bride UM in uraya i believe.
I can’t seem the get the materials to refine the fast switch aux cores. Is there a way I can get materials like golden cogs easier?
Definetly seems like a method I can get behind. Now only If I can get the hang of setting up orbs for a full burst....almost 80 hrs and I've only done 1
Is there really much to do after you defeated the game and have reached say level 99? Seems there are just a few high level bosses like level 130 or so, but doesn't seem like there is really anything left in this game to do, but kill high level NPC's. What else is there to keep the fun going in this game?
-Thank you for this video!
-affinity charts of rare blades
-affinity charts of the drivers
-Side quests
-Unique monsters in oracle of chaos difficulty
You can do challenge arena missions for exclusive character skins.
im not level 99 yet, only about level 60 or so, and im not good with equipment spreads >.> just going to find a good unique monster i know i can beat and get the full combo off on since i dont think i could pull this off
* Raised and fed a baby Arduran and is now a grown adult *
Xenoblade fans: " Time to keep killing it over and over again for hours on end "
So i was going through the comments and saw that you can miss things and later be locked out of places while progressing through the the story. Can you tell me which places they are?
A place called Indol will be locked some time after chapter 8.
All you can really miss is the dev, dialogue, salvage point, and like 4 quests.
I have all of the items and a fully leveled up Arduran but it keeps resisting break. Am doing something wrong here?
I followed your advice and on my first relentless i got 28 legendaries and about 60 chips that were better than my 8 precious forest chips i had been hoarding since my level 80 days.
Haha I totally forgot about those chips! They drop like crazy!
Qusetion
I'm like on chapter 9, is some side quest locked off forever in the game if you don't do them in previous chapters?
Yes, some quests in Indol if you haven't already done them. However, there are only ~3 to my knowledge and they aren't too exciting in the first place.
WargasmicGaming Another qusetion
Can you say every location i can Get to farm to get the relentless ardun like feeding him
Tora can Driver Combo all on his own once he obtains Poppi QTPi, a fact that REALLY shouldn't be overlooked.
at what point does the superbosss in the video spawn in chapter 9 or half way in 9 or after chapter9
this is really helpful, but do you know any tips for people who just beat the game and haven't leveled up much? roughly levels 65-70 to be specific. I just beat this game but am nowhere near the levels needed to beat these unique creatures or level 100s so i'm kind of out of farming options. or will I just have to grind the hell out of this game to get to lvl 100 anyways?
Alex315 you just get to level 99. I find it easier to just kill the final boss over and over again since he does give you 99999 exp everytime you kill him
josh ua woah is that true!? I can't wait to try this out! Thanks!
I honestly just explored a lot of the side quests in the game after beating it. This got me to about lvl 80 and I farmed the dinosaurs on temperantia near the great arch or whatever it’s called to get to lvl 99. Each kill gave anywhere from 17k with no chain attack finish to 37k with. And this was with the exp boosting item equipped on two or three of my characters.
I found it quicker to farm common cores; fill up your blade list with dark element blades; and bond away; got kosmos and perceval pretty quickly using this method; let all other common blades go of other elements
I do need a bunch of legendary core crystals so I can get 4 Crown blades to I get overdrive protocols so I can switch my blades around because most of them are on suboptimal characters. Prisons I have Electra on Rex and Rex sucks at using hammers. As for giving blades to Rex I can just use ultimate driver because I'm almost at that point in the game.
Im only at Act 4. But i have to ask.
Is there something missable ? Like heart-to-heart moments, blades, quests ..... ? Can i do everything after i do the main quests ?
Completing Chapter 8 will lock off an area you are introduced to in Chapter 5. Trying to avoid spoilers here as you haven't visited it yet: this area has a Gormotti refugee camp and a very extravagant palace. Therefore, you should complete all the quests available that are associated with this area before completing chapter 8. Vendors and stuff from this location move elsewhere, though.
ahhh thanks for the head up. Im only at chapter 4. But this area you are talking about , will the story lead me to it , or is it hidden for me to find ?
Nasko K. Dimov The story will take you straight to it, can't miss it. Enjoy the adventure!
Thanks. Happy New Year
What 2nd accessory do you recommend for Rex?
i am at chapter 7 now. is there a good way to get rare or legendary cores?
I don’t know what it is, I’ve done everything in this guide, I got legendary Beta Scopes, I got the Overclocking bangle for Rex and I’ve done everything the video said, yet every single hit, it just resists break and I don’t know why
Edit: I wasn’t at max level, so now I can fix that
Looking for help here and hoping someone can give me some input. I'm trying to put a Farming Driver Combo together using Zeke, Nia and Morag. All 9 Blades have gold chips. I also want to utilize Adenine's passive so I want Nia to be my Launcher and I put Break (Ether Cannon), Topple and Smash on Zeke. I used Sheba as Zeke's break and even with Beta scope, she never lands it on UM's. Especially TT. Any suggestions? Should I try a different Ether Cannon? Thanks.
