- Loten Namling ist einer der aktivsten und bekanntesten tibetischen Musiker in Europa. Auf der Flucht seiner Familie im Himalaya geboren und in Indien aufgewachsen, setzt sich Loten seit vielen Jahren für die Freiheit des von China besetzten Landes ein. Seine Lieder erinnern an die reiche Tradition und Kultur des Tibets; in der Gruppe Porok Karpo bringt er zusammen mit dem Schweizer Gitarristen Patrick Lerjen die überlieferten Melodien in Einklang mit erdigem Pop und alternativem Rock. Lotens kraftvoller Gesang schreitet dabei stolz über eine zerklüftete Landschaft aus harten Beats und aufrührerischen Gitarren, nur um wenig später wieder filigran in sich einzukehren. Der Kampf für ein unabhängiges Tibet hat wohl noch nie so frisch geklungen wie bei dieser Band.
Loten Namling est un des musiciens tibétains le plus actif et reconnu en Europe. Né dans l’Himalaya pendant la fuite de sa famille et grandit en Inde, il s’engage depuis longtemps en faveur de la liberté de ce pays occupé par la Chine. Ces chansons rappellent la riche culture et les traditions du Tibet ; avec le groupe Porok Karop, en collaboration avec le guitariste suisse Patrick Lerjen, il concile les mélodies anciennes avec la pop et le rock alternatif. Son chant puissant s’envole à travers un paysage crevassé par des rythmes rigoureux et des guitares subversives, pour se recueillir ensuite en filigrane. La lutte pour le Tibet indépendant n’a probablement jamais eu un air aussi rafraichissant que ce groupe.
