    Great video...love the outtakes too. I love, love, love my stealth belt pro. I purchased mine around a month after my surgery last year. I'm glad to see that after your long use it still looks great. That makes me feel even more confident in my purchase. I did base my decision from your original review. The price was higher but you definitely get what you pay for. I also discovered that they sell what they call "bloopers" which are belts that they may have made for customers that cancelled or changed their mind. So not only did I save money getting a "blooper" I was able to get it sooner. They do need a few days to check their stock to see if there is a match to what your needs are but it was definitely worth checking into. I do find myself wearing it less as it adds bulk to my clothing. Do you think that it is better or necessary for me to wear it more often? Thank you Eric once again for all of your insight.

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 7 lety +1

      +Don DePasquale Thanks for letting me know about the "bloopers". I had no idea they had those available. Wear it whenever you like. Sometimes, these belts bands, and accessories are only worn when needed, not all the time. I like wearing mine all the time, but it's bit necessary.

    Very good information between each one. I have an ostomy but my stoma is on my belt line and the problem I have with the StealthBelt is the material being very slick. Now of course I purchased mine 12 years ago, so not sure if they have changed. This causes my pants to slide down off it and find having to use suspenders.

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 7 lety

      Hey, Glen. The material is still what I'd consider to be "slick". Beltline stomas are more of a challenge, and these belts work best when the beltline is below the stoma. For stomas at the beltline, I tend to prefer hard stoma guards.

    Hi Eric, after 4 mths.w/ Stealth Belt Pro, I have some issues. I only wear it for outdoor activity, but would use it for dressing up. Belt looks like the cummerbund on my tuxedo.
    1.As an avid hiker, its slips up & down & pulls on my stoma.. The smaller hole makes it worse. As i mentioned before, Grainger makes blk. window molding in many widths & heights. I put a 2-4" pieces across the back side, on either side of my spine, where it is highest. Cheap & available at Loews.
    2.Belt collects sweat like crazy & soaked like a sponge. I saw your linty beat up belt & I suggest Hand Washing only. Greatly extends the life. I have clothes that look like your old belt, machine washed.
    3.Volume is an issue. My output is often high. The smaller hole makes it hard to manipulate removal & emptying. Had 2 leaks & spattered my hiking shorts in a public toilet, yuck. Hollister told me to go easy on the oil or stop.
    4. I find it has too much velcro. The secondary strip will rub my "love handles" raw. Have to play around to ease it.
    5. My stoma got bigger & was warned by MD & RN of prolapse. Coughing vs PT? The belt rubs on it. Will try one of the stoma guards, I saw on your video.
    If anyone experiences a prolapse, Immediately sprinkle sugar on it. It will shrink & retract. After 41 yrs in Medicine, I've seen Huge rectal prolapses, called the surgeon & he asks for Sugar. I once said: Doc, would you like a cup of coffee with it? HAHA

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 3 lety +1

      Great tips. FYI: I spinkle baby powder behind the belt and that greatly helps with sweat. Alternatively, use some unscented antiperspirant - crazy, but it works.
      Yeah, hand washing is the way to go. I only hand wash my ostomy stuff now, and it does extend their life considerably.
      I suggest giving StealthBelt your feedback directly as they may incorporate some new ideas into future designs :)

      @VeganOstomy  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Phil. I don't know if they'll work better with a stoma that's high up, but they shouldn't be worse! My only concern with wearing it higher up is whether it would ride up a bit - this would depend on the shape of the person wearing it, I suspect ;)

Ps I'm a female with my stoma on my right side

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 5 lety +1

      Generally speaking, how long it will be before needing to empty your bag will be about the same when you are wearing it sideways as it would be in the regular, vertical position. Some people may find that they empty less often because of the support that the belt gives. I hope that helps. Enjoy your flight!

    On the belts.. how does it drain into your pouch if it's sideways? It seems to me it would not drain into the pouch.

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question. It will still drain, but it will use the width of the bag, not the length. If you have thicker output, then you can often "push" the output to the side to help flatten it out and more evenly distribute things, but it's not necessary for everyone.
      It's important to remember that wearing your bag sideways does reduce the usable capacity of your bag.
      That said, StealthBelt has a vertical belt that offers great support and allows normal flow to the bottom of the bag ;)

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 2 lety

      I won't think that it would help because it reduces the capacity of the bag. A larger, high-output bag might be more appropriate, and of course, more frequent emptying of the bag (if possible) would be ideal.

      I know this is old. But I got my ileostomy in Feb 2013. Sept 2013 I was surfing again. I tried with my wetsuit on and no other Ostomy accessory products. It went flawless. Surfed for hours. It did feel "wrong" at first. Laying on a flat hard surface while wiggling as I paddled. I was sure my barrier ring and wafer must have shifted and planned on changing as soon as I got home. When I did I was surprised to find both were intact.
      I also tried trunkin' it. No shirt. Just a pair of trunks and an Ostomy Secret's wrap. This did not go well. I didn't feel protected enough to stay out there.
      But with a wetsuit? Good to go. That 2 or 3mm of rubber supports the bag perfect.

    • @VeganOstomy
      @VeganOstomy  Před 7 lety

      +cj perello I don't use anything for hernia prevention, but I have seen some hernia belts from Nu-Hope that I would consider if I needed to get one. I'd have to get a prescription for insurance to cover a hernia belt. I haven't used Comfizz products, so I don't have an opinion on those. I will say that most hernia belts are custom fitted so they have a hole for your appliance to go through, while offering support around the stoma and the surrounding areas.

      Я ношу эти ремни во время езды на велосипеде в течение всего лета. Они создают больше тепла и пота вокруг живота, но я считаю, что компромисс того стоит из-за поддержки, которую они предлагают.

    Do you have a colostomy or ileostomy?

    My husband has a very large hernia around his stoma, would this be helpful. We do use belts to hold pouches on.

      A hernia support belt/band would be more appropriate as these will not give the proper support. Hernia belts should be fitted by a qualified person or stoma nurse as there are several measurements that are needed when ordering a custom belt.

    Stealth belt pro is disappointing. Every video, image or instructions shows a reasonably fit individual wearing the belt around their WAIST. The problem is, most urostomy stomas are either at the same level as the navel or slightly below (always to the right). The stoma is too low to wear this belt around the waist. I also note that this simply adds more bulk to a bag your trying to hide. I will be returning mine asap.

      Hey Catherine. I'm sorry that you haven't had the best experience. It should work equally well at the navel level. But it really depends on your needs. What is the reason why you purchased one? For me, it works extremely well when I'm jogging or cycling, and I use both the horizontal and vertical versions. For concealment, yes, it can add bulk, but this can also depend on the wearer and wardrobe.

    They don't show a vertical belt how to put on

      The vertical belt goes on the exact same way as these horizontal belts, but you leave your ostomy appliance in the vertical position.
      I've been using several of the vertical belts for a while and love them!
