They literally took out a chunk of his personality and he's this funny
They took out a part of his frontal lobe, the only thing he lost was probably his sense of law and shame.
dude he aint that funny if im honest you must have a low standards
@@BadBoyBobby85 what does the back left control? Got a fuckin back concussion hitting my head back there and have wondered ever since lol... but really though
@@TheLoStBoYs89 or...maybe you're the one with low standards for not liking him...hmm
@Mentally Awakened lol finally! Thanks
For those who missed the punchline: It was very sophisticated, but subtle. What do comedians call it when performances go very badly? Dying on stage. When he posed the question to the doctor, everyone in the audience was expecting him to go to the dying punchline. But he didn't. Instead he drew out his own joke, and then commented about failing in comedy by drawing out the joke too long instead of cashing in (via the character of the doctor.) And then he skipped his own punchline altogether. He orchestrated a small, metaphorical death on stage, comparing that to the actual death he would have had if he hadn't had the surgery. As Daniel Chavez said, and a lot of people after him, iit was meta as fuck.
If they're the sort of person who missed that punchline, I very much doubt they'll have read through all of that in order to understand it, Captain Redundant.
You are unkind. I hope you work that out, for your own sake. Good luck.
Interesting tid-bit. I was genuinely captivated for this lengthy comment.
I appreciate that. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
Wow. Didn't notice it till I read your comment. Now it makes a lot of sense to me. Thanks!

TJ Miller can't not be funny. His delivery would make reading the phone book entertaining.
I prefer Nick Thune's delivery.
That's when you know you've got someone special

The way he ends his set is brilliant...
LionKingSDJ Seriously, I thought it was a really under-appreciated ending by the audience.
LionKingSDJ I didnt think it was a great ending..sounded like a small thing mid way something

That ending is pretty good. It’s a joke on itself and a joke on what’s more important, life or being funny. The joke framed both options and provoked the audience to think. All and all it made me laugh on the joke and then made me think on the question.

So that horror movie "unfriended" was TJ's idea?
Exactly what i was thinking
there's actually a movie called 'the den' that came out right after this standup set that is the exact premise.

Had a seizure once. I don't remember a thing before or when it happened but I'm with my dad at the time. He witnessed everything and was traumatized by it. I guess, witnessing a seizure is more terrifying than having one.
My younger brother has seizures, can attest.
Absolutely terrifying.
yep I had two after a bike accident and my gf is scarred. but it felt kinda peaceful.
I had a phase of having them very regularly when I first dated my now husband he was terrified 4 years later he goes oh no not again 😂 hes the master of catching me
I personally have never had one. I’ve seen it and it’s scary.

I just had my second in 18 years. The first time, the doctors essentially concluded, "Um... stress?"
It's amazing how he managed to turn such a horrifying event into a hilarious yet touching standup set. Respect.
Always been a fan of his. His storytelling is better than most and his timing is second to none.
My aunt was born with an AVM. She had some weird symptoms that she ended up going in and getting an MRI for in her 40's and the doctors found it.
They gave her the same option- either leave it and know that one day it can hemorrhage and it will most likely be fatal or attempt the surgery and possibly have complications/lose her life during the process...
She chose to leave it and live her life like everyday could be her last.
It finally was in February of last year when she passed away at the age of 70.
She never complained. She never pitied herself or took it easy just because she had a ticking time bomb in her head... She just lived. RIP Aunt Bev 💜
They have to stop putting the punchlines in the fucking intro .....
Seriouisly, its like showing the monster in a preview for a horror flick
But oddly enough its the only hook that gets me into watching it long enough to the end.
I am a big fan T.J. he's always a cool..........amazing presence on stage, film, radio or whatever. Real talent.
You can’t tell me that isn’t Bobby Lee laughing in the background. Even if it isn’t, then that person somehow manifested him into their own body.

This type of story/joke is written with the idea of being clever in the eyes of your peers. The truly funny stuff of that nature takes a moment to process, and therefore doesn't usually get the BIG laugh. But it does make you appreciate the writing and gains the admiration of your fellow comics. This was absolute textbook. BRAVO!

I love this program. However if I could give one what I think is useful critique for the editing. I really don't like that they use a main punchline from each story in the beginning intro. It really takes away from it when it is told in the story.
this is why i fast forward through the intro. i don't even want to know the title of the story, it all goes better if it is a completely unknown subject
yeah they didn't listen
Guarantee you missed the ending punchline it revolved around the whole story about dying on stage and in real life with the doctor and shit
It’s called a teaser, it’s proven to be more affective at drawing viewership than not using it. ... or they’d be avoid it’s use.
Shadoe Haze yeah I usually use that to gauge if I think it’s gonna be funny or not...this one totally sucked me in

Malnutrition and dehydration leads to my seizures. (severe abuse as a child; inability to maintain appetite)
I would NEVER wish them upon anyone.
Literally the worst experiences of my entire life. Waking up 3 days later not knowing anything at all is actually scary folks.
First one was not so bad. Recovered in two days. The second one, my heart stopped and I had to be resuscitated. They called it a grand-mal seizure.
I had 3 more, one where my heart went afib and again I had to be saved.
I'd say what I found to fully treat my loss of appetite, but I love my job.
All I will say is that nature long ago came up with a natural solution which has no adverse medical effects.
It has been 9 years free of that horrible feeling I associate with deja-vu on steroids. And I am glad someone was able to lighten the mood on one hell of a scary topic.
