With their third generation Combo, Vauxhall finally delivered us a really space-efficient compact van, with both short and long wheelbase bodystyles that together aimed to satisfy almost every buyer in this segment. With frugal running costs, smart design and unbeaten practicality from this Fiat Doblo-based design, it's everything a small LCV from this era should be.

Outstandingly detailed clear and concise review. Fantastic. 🙂
Thank you kindly!
I had my 1.6 remapped 3 yrs ago due to living in a hilly area. 140bhp with 263nm and 50+mpg. It's made it far easier to get about. I love my van but the only issue to me is the hilariously bad turning circle. You need a sense of humour in supermarket car parks😂
will keep my astra van going as long as i can .
Love my combo
The only thing i advise with combo's and doblo's is get your cam chain changed earlier than they recomend there milage life is only about 145k miles before they die so highly recomend regular cam chain changes before you get stuck in the middle of nowhere with no phone coverage and the road recovery people cant find you for 6 hours!!!! And after you finish paying 7k for it just days after !!! And regular servicing helps the 1.3 isnt worth keeping past 100k without doing the work...
100% correct
Turbos go around 80k and timing chain snap without warning 1.3
Aye the 1.3s are wank
I can confirm.......turbo dead at 59k, timing chain snap without warning at 64k.

Okay 👍
id turn this modle into a micro camper van to get a better price for it
i have a 2013 1.6 short wheel base, and i would not be with out it
Does the vauxhall share the same engines as the fiat doblo? I am looking at one of these to upgrade from my MK1 transit connect, i will not look at the new connect due to the weak engine.
I believe so, i've just purchased a late 2018 Fiat Doblo with 1.3 multijet diesel 95hp, it appears lots of parts same as Vauxhall. This 1.3 engine is used by Ford, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Suzuki, Tata, Chevrolet, Citroen, Peugeot, Opel, Vauxhall, Fiat etc. Apparently change oil regular and all filters. As with any engine always helps with engine longevity!

Smokey, smelly, unreliable and possibly the worse van I've ever owned, expect it to constantly let you down, mine is currently broken down on the drive with the BCM failing. 97000 miles. If you love throwing money at your vehicles these are for you, Ive spent thousands keeping it running for the last 10 years, Its taken me to the edge with frustration. Avoid.
What one have you got? About to have a look at a 2019 plate combo
