I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at age 18 but my Mom said I had symptoms from age 3 on...I'm 48 now. When I was diagnosed the stats for Canada showed approx 200,000 Canadians had CD. I am appalled to see how much it has spread in 30 years. Thank you for this informative video Dr. Mike. I wish it had of been around when I was diagnosed because I think it would have taken the fear out my diagnosis. And for those who are suffering and haven't heard yet there is a vaccine going into human trials December 2016 in the UK...I truly believe we are just a few years away from a cure for Crohn's!!

This is great. i've had UC for 12 years and I still learned something! BUT I think it's important to remember that diagnoses are not always set it stone. Sometimes what presents at UC at first may evolve into something more systemic, like Crohn's or manifest in allergic reactions.

I think rather than UC that evolves to crohn's, this would probably be a missed diagnosed colonic type crohn's disease that started to involve other areas.
I'm 11 and have been diagnosed with severe UC ( pan colitis ) I had to stay in hospital for 2weeks I'm still on steroids now because I keep having flair ups and nothing seems to be working I'm the only one in my family with it but this video helped me understand it a bit more .thank you
bibi Baldwin I had Pancolitis too. Ask about Entyvio. It has me in remission.
hey, you should have a gluten free diet. Diet free of WHEAT. it's really inflammatory to the gut lining and can exacerbate any gut issues. Dairy does this too, but wheat is the worst. Hope you heal, sorry to hear you are dealing with this.

I think I have this . My gut swells up and digestion at times is beyond slow and I'll have blood in my stools sometimes. I'll have the urge to go but nothing will happen. I hate this .
+GeneralSantucci1st I know how you feel man.. I have it over fours years.It has ruined my life, I used to box and do MMA.. I also feel like there is a golf ball stuck up my backside, pains in my lower back, and always the feeling of needing to go to the toilet. Sometimes it feels like there is no help. I still havent got diagnosed with anything. the only thing I know its a rough battle with body and mind.. Be strong and I hope you get better soon.........
The pain in your lower back might be caused by inflammation in your bowels that radiates to your lower back area.

Oisin O Lochlainn you sound like me my friends I was an athlete too and started having these symptoms since then I have not been able to train I am always fatigued and if I force my self to train or run I start having palpitations... and the worse thing Is I have had endoscopy and colonoscopy and bloods etc done but they have said everything is normal.... I am so nauseous right now with stomach cramps and redness on my skin with joint aches but when I go doctors all the rest are normal... it so challenging it’s crippled my life man... can anyone help please :(

I have crohns disease. Started when I was 15 and needed tons of pills, injections of medication, and surgery.
if you stop eating wheat and dairy this is huge help to healing.
And start drinking hemp seed milk.

Thanks for the video. I never had any issues until some bad dentistry led to three rounds of Clyndimayicin which led to a Cdiff infection. Ever since think I have had flare ups. Going in for a scope in a few weeks to see what's up. I'm a 56 year old male and this will be my 3rd scope.

I’m in the UK and I have all these symptoms. I’ve been struggling for over a year and UK doctors here are so shit every time I talk about my symptoms they say it’s “stress” honestly I’m at a point where I’m about to give up on life :( and these telephone appointments with the doctors are doing nothing but quicken the process. I can’t deal with this pain anymore

I’m only 27 but my life is hell very similar to what you just described. Im a strong believer in herbal medicine, a friend of mine suggested Kratom and I have been using it since, it’s honestly life changing. I will read about this doctor and contact him soon. Kudos to the video!!!! I know this feeling because I had also suffered from IBD A few years back I also had a huge pain in my abdomen. I took many Allopathy medicines but it was all waste. Then I took the IBS care pack of planet Ayurveda. and used it for 5-6months. Now I am better.

I have an IBD but no real diagnose on weather it's CD or UC, but I think it's the latter. And I'm being treated with cortisone.
So do I, I take pentasa tablets. I have it very mild though so I'm lucky

Dr, Mike i still continue have bad stomach pains and nausea and throw up. But all docs say im fine? What can it be? I take pain killer to relive my pain and then it goes away after a 2-3 hours. And then ill be fine all day. and sometime it won’t return until a day or 2 and the same issue will happen. I have lost 40lb since becoming ill

Sounds about what I've been dealing with for the past two years. I can't fucking do it anymore. I had a endoscopy done in December everything was fine. I'm scheduled in a week for a colonoscopy.. after starting a new job. It has completely taken over my life. The flare ups and night sweats and feeling like death on the toilet at night is the worst for me.. I'll keep posted. Idk man but this time I hope I get answers. This is just getting ridiculous and unbearable 😭😖

Having the Crohns disease, already had all the tests ( blood and poop everytime, colonoscopy, ultrasound an CT luckyli not that often), having the biologic treatment since start and now Im 2 days before surgery of the narrow infected parts of the intestine :/....
