I was there that night. I was in a state of shock for the last few minutes after the last goal was scored. I can’t believe this was 25 years ago.

I was a young boy watching from my home in nova scotia. A massive brodeur fan and it was the happiest moment of my life at that time. I can't imagine being there for it!

How did the city react? I was way too young at the the time, but I'd gotta imagine people went crazy

@@iridescentskink9031 The Devils were still playing at the Meadowlands then. The parade was there. Thd state, more than East Rutherford l, showed its happiness, including then Governor Whitman.

It's crazy that Head Coach (Jacques Lemaire) and one of the Assistant Coach (Larry Robinson) of the Devils won a bunch of Cups with Scotty Bowman as their head coach during the 70s.

I'm a Rangers fan through and through. That night, I cheered the Devils. They earned it and I always thought of all the Cup winners they had that this was the most complete team they had. It was most moving seeing all of the players try and share the moment with Fetisov as much as they could as he just missed it with them. To see Peluso, a noted tough guy, reduced to tears on the bench. Being a fan of another team shouldn't make you cold or heartless when it comes to the raw drama, emotion and accomplishment of another team.

I've been watching hockey my whole 52yr life and this was one of the most emotional and heart warming celebrations for a team that went through so much in it's existence. I was never so happy for a team other than my habs in 86 & 93 then I was for the Devils this year. What a great hockey memory

Not to be dramatic but I’ve been looking for this video of the HNIC broadcast for 25 years. Thank you!

Wish they'd show the MSG broadcast someplace. The post game was epic, doesn't anybody remember? They were threatening to move, and the Governor got on saying they needed to stay - and the destination was Nashville, and I remember Mike Crispino saying, "Nashville of course is NOT a hockey town..." :O oops!

1995 was actually the first year of a new TV contract for the NHL, where all conference final and Cup Final games in the US were on national television (no more home team RSN broadcasts). This ended up being the first time in many years that the Cup was presented live on network television in the United States, which only happened because it happened to be a Saturday night. It also so happened that FOX’s lead play-by-play voice in those years was Mike Emrick, who was also the voice of the Devils. His call was a very intentional declaration under the circumstances: “The championship to New Jersey!”

What broadcast was this? It showed the NJ Devils coaches instead of the players when the game ended. I've seen other versions showing the players all going straight for Martin Brodeur in the final seconds.
