John Stevens had an entire town rallying behind him, which is probably the only reason he made it as far as he did. He went to high school with my brother, I was in middle school at the time. I remember everyone voting for him like crazy, my family included, regardless of his performance.
I remember when he got eliminated, and I was pretty disappointed. He was good, and much better than John Stevens. But from what I can tell, John Stevens was shocked that he ended up staying. I think he probably secretly felt that JPL deserved to stay more than he did
Actually your both wrong. Stop sucking up to stupid Fantasia if that’s who you are thinking. She may be the Idol winner but I think she won because she was a teenage mother and people clearly felt sorry for her. Second Idol was clearly racist at the time. Didn’t you notice that all of the contestants that were safe were mainly black contestants? The bottom 3 were the white contestants. Race was clearly voted in this season. First voting all the white contestants in the bottom and claiming it was a popularity contest, voting out the favorite guy in JPL which young girls loved made those fan outraged so the next week they put the three divas in the bottom 3 and voted for Diana Degarmo and John Stevens. Something was CLEARLY wrong with the way the voting was done. Also I like to point out that Jasmine was the only contestant who was obviously from a different country and that was the Philippines 🇵🇭 and she was voted every week because Idol was SO huge in the Philippines 🇵🇭 at the time. That’s why she ended up in the Top 3. She was voted because the country was huge for Idol. However if they didn’t screw around with the voting 🗳 here, LaToya probably would have won instead of Fantasia. Still fans didn’t like that those black contestants were voted so much. It wasn’t just based on popularity but racism too. Could Idol had been voted by racist, popularity and sexism? Yes in my opinion.
Jpl was dreadful lol it was the likeable factor that got him all the way to the top 8 and not his singing. Absolutely a waste of good talent that got elimated to early this season (eg katie webber & lisa leuschner)
Jpl was awful, if it werent for his silly dancing and innocence he would never gotten this far. Darn those preteen fan girls. A character like him might be fun for reality shows like this, but it shows that it doesnt get you anywhere in the music business; never heard of him afterward.

I was the 6-year-old girl that loved JPL. 😂😂 I was devastated when he was booted out.

Based on just the previous night John Stevens deserved to stay. He had his best performance that week.
