Tien using the Kamehameha was a real curveball for me; very unexpected, but cool.
Only shows how skilled Tien is being able to perform a technique after only seeing it twice
Dragonball is just the best. not even DBZ DBS can compare to the quality of fights it has. the technique execution cannot be seen in next versions of dragonball due to the power increase although they do bring it back time to time especially TOP did it well.

Still though, people still do learn techniques just by looking at them. Like everyone Krilin threw his kienzan at. Buu learned the Kamehameha from Goku, and you should see Super Broly. Broly also did the Kamehameha....along with other techniques used on him. And then there's Raditz and Frieza showing how undisciplined they were. And then there's Cell making a mockery of everything he copied, even Super Saiyan 2. He was so bad, his ability to regenerate saved him from being killed so many times.
Legit my favorite fight in the entire franchise.
This entire arc is a masterpiece of character arcs and fights.
Goku VS Krillin was absolutely amazing.
Also, that victory hurt Tien more mentally than anything else Roshi could've done lmfao.

Tien is the first to fly in Dragon Ball with Chaozu and the first to do Solar Flare
This episode and the next couple are some of the best fights in the series

This Tournament has Some of the Best and most interesting Fights in all of Dragonball ! I love the choreograpgy of these fights and i Like that skill and technics mattered a LOT.
Just a few episodes away from the end of the tournament and the beginning of the saga that literally changes everything.
Tien was the originator of the Solar Flare technique.

Not sure why the dialogue was changed so much again. When Son Goku asks Kuririn "why Jackie Chun is still talking to Tenshinhan" and then looked at commentator with big eyes, in the original he asked "how did the commentator know what's happening in the fight" and Kuririn explained that it's because he has sunglasses that protect from bright light.
Yeah it's a very annoying thing with dubs in general.

they did remake dragonball from the beginning up until the red ribbon saga as a movie. it has great animation.

Roshi definitely had a lot of tricks in his book that could have won the match for him. But his goal was to start Tien on doubting the Crane Hermit's teachings. He accepted that his legacy was ending and a new one would begin. Main reason why he accepted to let Goku/Krillin take it from there. I believe had Roshi used the Lightning Flash Surprise Attack it could have guaranteed his victory.
Meh, Tien was probably still stronger. They'll talk next episode, Roshi will admit it's possible he would have lost. But yeah Roshi didn't use either his lightening technique or the buff kamehameha (which drains all his energy). But Tien didn't use his arms technique or the kikoho. If I remember the official power levels at that point well (even if it doesn't say everything), Tien had a higher one.
Well it was long proven that higher power level never meant a clear cut advantage. Roshi has so much experience it trumps Tien. You are correct. In terms of power level Tien is higher than Roshi. However in the Dragonball universe technique and tactic can help against tougher opponents.
Roshi himself stated in the manga that both Goku and Tien were clearly stronger than him.
@@TheImmortaI You're not wrong. But pure strength can be beaten with tactical knowledge. All I said is that Roshi decided against going all out for a win. Once he knew Tien had his views changed he was happy with the result. Hence why he gave up willingly rather than let Tien knock him out.
@@Skrulzie Roshi still had some tricks up his sleeve but Tien had just as many still up his. And really all Tien had to do to win was use tri beam and Roshi's only options were to take it and likely die or dodge and go out of bounds.

I would love to see OG get a non filler Anime. Like Dragon Ball Z Kai. I've heard that One Piece is doing something similar with a new studio and cutting down the episode count to around 300. I believe they are calling it "The One Piece".
I recommend you to watch movie version of it. It is more funny and emotional. I think it's mystical power or path to the power maybe.

Because of the Goku / Roshi finale in the first tournament, I always thought it was a countdown to stand up - but those were special rules made for the particular occasion.
FYI this is the first and ONLY time Tien used the Kamehameha.
If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say that at some point, Roshi discovered that he couldn't win the fight outright, so it became more a matter of trying to get into Tien's head. I'd say he succeeded in a big way, not just with the bits of advice and wisdom he offered, but by just walking out of the ring like that, giving Tien a victory he felt he didn't earn. Tien fixated on how he won the battle, which in turn made him think of everything Roshi said to him during the course of their match.

In the first tournament he only entered because he was afraid no one would push goku.
By this point krillin, Tien, Yamcha, chotzu and goku would all push each other no matter who won. Meaning the false rival Jackie chun wasn’t needed anymore.

3)Goku vs Krillin was one of his closest battles.
Roshi himself stated he can't win if both fight at 100%, he also says that Goku surpassed him, it's clear Goku and Tien were the strongest at this point of the story.

Roshi and tien should have around the same powerlevels here, tien is younger and roshi is more experienced but his stamina is weaker, tien still didn't use the tribeam and other moves in the fight so who knows

@@jaycienlovelace3123 Goku never needed to destroy the moon but that doesn't mean he couldn't do it. Also Goku is the protagonist and a Saiyan so it's obvious he surpasses everyone the more he battles. Also Master Roshi had techniques that he hasnt used during that fight like the Lightning Surprise and his Sleep Spells. Abilities that Tien might not have had a way to counter.
Tien is the reason is my favorite human in all of Dragon Ball 🔥💯
