I have the xf650 and I have 400 miles on it, only thing I would say is that it's a big bike and quite heavy, also the tyres are very noisy for road use. As for the hand throttle and power restrictions,
they are east to overcome and it's very unlikely that anyone will notice. Electric bikes are great fun I love mine. Great review Mark.

Thorough review, thanks. I haven't seen what the front and rear suspension travel is. The rear pivot looks beefy as hell, looks good. The front axle dropouts look a little sketchy with the smaller bolts holding the axle in place. Overall, it appears to be very well made and the handling looks impressive, from what I've seen.

E-bikes are the same in terms of restrictions all over the European Union. They are limited to 25kph after which the electric motor assist cuts out. You can buy unrestricted ones but they count as an electric motorcycle and will have to be registered etc as would a ice machine.

@@stevetaylor8698 I don't doubt that's true, but in Spain hire bikes seem to be generally unrestricted and are usually throttle operated. It's probably illegal, but that's Spain for you.

I don't know any ebike users that actually use 250w legal ones. My area in south Wales is extremely hilly 250w is absolutely no good unless I want to travel everywhere at 5mph. My 1000w bike does those same hills at 15mph, 20 if I'm helping the motor out as well by pedalling.

Doubters should try one, e-bikes are amazing and you do get s good workout as Marc said. Good review Marc but when talking about individual fit the distance between the seat post centre and the bars centre is as important as seat height. That body stretch can become very uncomfortable on a long ride if for example your reach is too stretched, sore back and wrists are the result. But they are crazy expensive.

Save yourself £1200 and buy the Shengmilo MX03, I have put 2500 miles on one of these, with just a replacement rear tyre, the front and rear shocks on both these bikes are not up to any serious off-road use, but that's not what they are about, you would go for a mid drive bike with quality components if that's what you want, but for road use with some very light trails, they are very good, but £2600 is too much for such a bike, incidentally the comfort commented on is due to the tyres.

It's been a decade since I was into mountainbiking but I see the manufacturers are still shady even when the bikes are the price of a kidney.
Don't get me wrong, it looks nice but for that money they could've put a decent kit on the bike... the rear derailleur is second to worst (last) out of 8 total shimano mtb groupsets (or out of 10 depending if you count Zee and Saint) for that price it should have at least been SLX.
When I see things like that it makes me wonder about the quality of that (unbranded?) rear shock, front forks definitely, the brakes, etc.
I might be a bit cynical but for 3 grand it is prudent to have a bit of a cynical thorough look at a bike.
