As a layout creator, i often lately find myself building a 45 seconds of the layout incredibely fast and then just slow down a lot, and just closing the idea off. Then i remember after some time that i made a solid part of a layout once and actually decide to continue it. Great video btw and its really relatable (tho not on every field for me haha)!
There are three types of featured creators: The ones who make two shitty levels and then a bunch of epic rated levels. The ones who only got their 1.9 levels rated because they couldn’t make good 2.0 - 2.1 levels And the ones that put as much effort as farting into a level and it still gets rated for some reason.
“If you decorate bad, don't” Maybe i got the message wrong but i relate to it so much, i just gave up decorating and started doing only layouts because i SUCK decorating, since then i enjoy creating a lot more
Honestly a super accurate video, great job. But I think for me, stage 9 and 10 would be swapped. I've gotten a creator point but recently I've been feeling a bit demotivated to create or even start something. Though not every person's creating journey is the same, this is still a really good video. Take my subscribe. 👍
I was originally wanted to be a player, instead of a creator. Unfortanetly my device's inputs were 0.5 second late, and also stopped if I reached 5 cps. So I gave up on that, and went to be a creator, which I never tried before. (I have literaly no idea when should I use commas, I'm bad at english.) I was on the same road, but something happened, that made me leave this track. I realized that creators with creator-points won't collab, with a guy who has 600 stars, 5 demons and no creator points. (These were my stats, after 3 years, don't ask me how) So I asked random nobodies, like me. Most of them accepted it. We did not stop after 1 collab, and I learnt from them, how to create. At that point, we are a community, not a team. Maybe some of the guys there will read this. If yes, then hi, the leader of The Hidden Gemstones was here.
Oh cool! Iv never personally had a collab before so its awesome to see some people have (also my stats also suck, iv been playing since 1.9 and still dont have 1000 stars 🙁)
The Creator tab in gd is what really makes this game different from the other platformer games, also im glad you uploaded this because I KINDA saw this coming😀.

Currently at stage 9, my deco and stuff is bad but I improve every day. Making short, bad but levels around 20 seconds long which teach me more things, how to make levels look good. What good styles there are, what are bad. It's truely an experimental stage and I aspire for stage 10.

Right now I'm in-between stage 9 and 10. I can usually start a level with feature worthy decoration and gameplay, but lose all ideas after finishing one or two parts. I've been here for about a year now, but hopefully one day I'll manage to finish a level and have it rated.

9:09 this hits me hard because I was not only aiming for the creator point but for the likes.There would be a time that I posted a preview of a layout or a level that i made it with my full effort and manage to post it for feedbacks but sadly no one is telling me about advices at what aspects just i need to be improved in creating and worse, it got less downloads and never noticed my previews rn unless checked by the levels made via profile of the player.I was so downed by that time that I was going to quit in creating layouts / levels but I just realized that if they will not gonna help you then why don't you help yourself? reflecting every mistakes I made and trying to fix it to the right path, and now I noticed myself that I have improved a lot in making layouts and levels despite some of them just have small amount of likes and downloads but just to accept it. I created ‘megalodash’ and it got rated Harder but when I improved and made the full version it didn’t get rated. I didn’t really care too much because I had already gotten rated before though.
Great video. I quit gd for half a year because of demotivation of creating. Now I’m back and in between stages 9 and 10. I haven’t gotten a rate yet, but I’m working on my xxl passion project, just because it’s fun.

Ive been wanting to get the full version of gd since i was a kid and i got it during the release of the 2.2 update. After watching wulzy's old tutorial video, i jumped to level 4 instantly and made a cool easy to medium demon layout lol. I know it's not getting rated, but it's a very nice personal creation. ( I haven't verified it yet because i made it over my skill cap in order to get better) I'll go from 1.0 style to a 1.9 style to something hopefully rateable
I subbed, this is great! Also, i've been in stage 9 for a while, never really gotten too good at deco or stuff like that, though I've made a few things im proud of. I might get far in a layout, but I barely ever really finish one, in fact I think I've only ever finished like one, maybe two but I only finished like one long one. I tried decorating that level, but obviously, my deco skills were, and still kind of are, sub par. I made a cool little part in a make your part level now though (that was a lil while ago now though), and I've made some cool little block deco levels & stuff. There's currently a layout I'm making that I'm actually really happy with, and I'm going to try my best to finish it. I think through all my layout creating I've gotten pretty decent at gameplay! I also know a couple things about decoration, so hopefully if I actually finish the layout, I can possibly decorate it and release a decent level? I will probably upload the layout when I'm done, which includes when I'm done filling space with structures and bugfixing, etc. Sorry this comment is so long, I kinda rambled. Anyway, I'ma go work on that layout!

For me, I would be stage 9 (no frequent uploads, always starts and never finishes levels) I haven’t gotten to the “Why isn’t my level getting rated” stage because I never expect them to get rated. I don’t make for a rated level, or creator points. But for The finished result. (a rate would be nice)
The true stage 11 only becomed truly meaningful when you know why you create. Stage 11 is the realization that you may be able to master creating but you won't reach the skill ceiling before the game itself does. I am stage 10 but even then there's still a lot to learn about the aspects of the editor.
i'm actually surprised how my experience wasn't like that. like, i don't look at other levels, don't take inspiration from them, i don't even care about standards and make whatever i feel like making, which is always layouts (because i lack creativity), which people seem to like, and i seem to make a unique style with a lot of clicksync. if only it wasn't for the fact that almost no one will bother to use a NONG to play a layout. it feels so weird - making seemingly good layouts, that you have no one to share with, simply because it's nearly impossible to find a good song on newgrounds, and tons of good stuff isn't allowed on gd, or isn't on newgrounds at all. wonder if there's a place where such levels are liked actually, since the large/important projects are the only ones with NONG songs that actually are being at least somewhat noticed, i've started to work on a large project of recreating the rhythm heaven minigames in gd, although that will for sure be out in 2.3. for now i'm making what i can. and, speaking of that, i think it was worth mentioning the trigger creators, shame they're not mentioned, aside of the short moment with mastergame overall, good video, even though i can't relate to it, probably one of the best gd videos i've seen also, this isn't even related to the topic of the video, but damn, i'm really glad i left gds so recently, because if i didn't, i could have ended up in this video

But i can see why they arent as popular. Also yeah, i had a whole section about triggers on the old script but after literal hours of debating i decided to scrap it. I sort of regret that now tbh. Also thanks for the kind words at the end, it means a lot to me that people are liking my content. Id been stuck at 100-200 subs for over 1 and a half years at this point and seeing my channel finally doing well feels amazing :)

Stage 7-8 i really like effect levels and i almost got my level rated but it wasnt enough but it was ok but im close to stage 9 im slowly getting to stage 10

Ive been wanting to get the full version of gd since i was a kid and i got it during the release of the 2.2 update. After watching wulzy's old tutorial video, i jumped to level 4 instantly and made a cool easy to medium demon layout lol. I know it's not getting rated, but it's a very nice personal creation. ( I haven't verified it yet because i made it over my skill cap in order to get better) I'll go from 1.0 style to a 1.9 style to something hopefully rateable

I subbed, this is great! Also, i've been in stage 9 for a while, never really gotten too good at deco or stuff like that, though I've made a few things im proud of. I might get far in a layout, but I barely ever really finish one, in fact I think I've only ever finished like one, maybe two but I only finished like one long one. I tried decorating that level, but obviously, my deco skills were, and still kind of are, sub par. I made a cool little part in a make your part level now though (that was a lil while ago now though), and I've made some cool little block deco levels & stuff. There's currently a layout I'm making that I'm actually really happy with, and I'm going to try my best to finish it. I think through all my layout creating I've gotten pretty decent at gameplay! I also know a couple things about decoration, so hopefully if I actually finish the layout, I can possibly decorate it and release a decent level? I will probably upload the layout when I'm done, which includes when I'm done filling space with structures and bugfixing, etc. Sorry this comment is so long, I kinda rambled. Anyway, I'ma go work on that layout!

When I started to create I wasn't at stage 1 probably 2 but now I think at 3.
For me, I would be stage 9 (no frequent uploads, always starts and never finishes levels) I haven’t gotten to the “Why isn’t my level getting rated” stage because I never expect them to get rated. I don’t make for a rated level, or creator points. But for The finished result. (a rate would be nice)
The true stage 11 only becomed truly meaningful when you know why you create.
Stage 11 is the realization that you may be able to master creating but you won't reach the skill ceiling before the game itself does.
I am stage 10 but even then there's still a lot to learn about the aspects of the editor.

this is so accurate, exactly how i started creating as well haha
i'm actually surprised how my experience wasn't like that. like, i don't look at other levels, don't take inspiration from them, i don't even care about standards and make whatever i feel like making, which is always layouts (because i lack creativity), which people seem to like, and i seem to make a unique style with a lot of clicksync. if only it wasn't for the fact that almost no one will bother to use a NONG to play a layout. it feels so weird - making seemingly good layouts, that you have no one to share with, simply because it's nearly impossible to find a good song on newgrounds, and tons of good stuff isn't allowed on gd, or isn't on newgrounds at all. wonder if there's a place where such levels are liked
actually, since the large/important projects are the only ones with NONG songs that actually are being at least somewhat noticed, i've started to work on a large project of recreating the rhythm heaven minigames in gd, although that will for sure be out in 2.3. for now i'm making what i can. and, speaking of that, i think it was worth mentioning the trigger creators, shame they're not mentioned, aside of the short moment with mastergame
overall, good video, even though i can't relate to it, probably one of the best gd videos i've seen
also, this isn't even related to the topic of the video, but damn, i'm really glad i left gds so recently, because if i didn't, i could have ended up in this video
Thanks for the comment! Honestly, making whatever you want is great and imo, its not worth making a level if it isnt fun for you. Also i layouts with NONG songs are cool! But i can see why they arent as popular. Also yeah, i had a whole section about triggers on the old script but after literal hours of debating i decided to scrap it. I sort of regret that now tbh. Also thanks for the kind words at the end, it means a lot to me that people are liking my content. Id been stuck at 100-200 subs for over 1 and a half years at this point and seeing my channel finally doing well feels amazing :)

and, you said you scrapped the part about triggers. if you didn't delete it, perhaps you could upload it somewhere for not just me, but all of us to see what could have been there?
and of course, that little rise in subscribers is what most people need to start growing, since more people will find your videos, it's an exponential curve, so keep going!

Stage 7-8 i really like effect levels and i almost got my level rated but it wasnt enough but it was ok but im close to stage 9 im slowly getting to stage 10
I can accept that my levels won't get rated but I'm at stage nine in the sense that I just make short layouts that I never finish.
Yeah, iv seen a few others at that stage too. I also make a ton of unfinished layouts myself
