As a Broncos fan, I just want to say, I am thankful Canterbury exist.

Kent rips into any struggling team week in week out, then has a dig at gus for doing it..
Difference is once a journo thatâs what he gets paid for .
The other being Gus has just said to Barrett you canât be trusted to do your job and step aside . Gus is a hypocrite and heâs issue is like in commentary he thinks heâs always right and has a massive ego
@@danielkelly4487
Pretty sure gus is general manager of football at bulldogs.
Anything and everything is his job.
Poor bloke isn't happy with himself
Gus is the boss of football I actually like that he took charge and personally came down to rip heads off players instead of sending an e-mail or a memo that's the way it should be done
Amen.
All it is is a GM doing their job well. He's ultimately responsible after all. 1 session, means he doesn't trust the team. More than that, I'll begin believing a rift between Gus and Trent exists. Not before.
#istandwithgus đđđ€Ł
Good comment mate 100 true
All the coaches Gus effectively got rid of haven't really done much better since. Ivan is only gaining success now off the back of what Gus had done with reserve grade and pathway programs at the Panthers.
Jack Gibson was fond of saying : I donât have five years to plan things. I coach my teams to win the next game we are playing.
Far out man, the dogs literally have the hardest draw to start the season, they are literally playing last years top 6 besides Brisbane, they need to wait until they play the mediocre teams, thatâs when itâll really show what it will be like
I mean if they lose to the tigers which they play in 2 weeks, then there is a problem
@@m3rl707 tigers aren't easy beats now Hastings is back don't be surprised if they make the top 8
@@georgebigbush7261 Tigers play well against better teams and they fold against bad teams lol. But I hope Hastings helps them slide into 8th. It's been 10 years of disappointment lol.
But for now I still think Tigers a bench mark for the dogs and its still too early to judge where Tigers go next.
played the drongos twice and the cows once in their first 7. a half decent side would pick up more wins then 1 out of those fixtures
@@m3rl707 they used to, something seems different about them now. Jackson hastings has brought out something in the team that i havent seen since the days of Robbie and Benji. The team just looks more committed than previous years. Tipping tigers to make the 8 or sadly miss out again in 9 or 10. I dont see them losing to small teams anymore the way hastings controls the game
Are you seriously blaming in for stepping in for 1 training session, after the start we have had and after 4 wins and 31 losses? If this is the beginning of the end for Barrett, then its probably a good thing
Amen
Panthers wouldnât be where they are today without Gus.
Nathan and Ivan would be wearing Tigers colours.
Developement wouldnât of been as strong as it is today
People really do forget.
Nah bro, Gus wanted Bennet at Penrith. Nathan would have then gone to Ivan at the Tigers!! The board pre-empted this and went around Gus and brought over Ivan, which put Gus's nose out of joint and (in Gus's mind) made him look silly. I agree with you 100%, in that Gus did a huge amount of good things at Penrith, laying the ground work for success and correcting some wrongs - and many forget this... At the same time, Ivan has done an outstanding job proving himself beyond a doubt. So you have two different styles of leadership: Gus's "sledge hammer" approach, which is good for resetting and establishing a solid foundation - clean up a mess and get things on track. And Ivan's more modern approach: careful analytics, patience, respect. Ie. Notice what's working and continually refine it and improve. Both methods have a place but they are at opposite ends of the approach. Unfortunately for Trent, he will be a casualty of Gus's sledge hammer approach. But yeah, you are right in that Penrith wouldn't be were they are today without Gus.
@@eldorado111 excellent analysis and comment mate.
@@eldorado111 You literally just repeated what OP said. Just dragged it out more into a longer paragraph lol...
@@jasonwaller4895 hm.. yeah ok đ
Gus Gould played in an era of tough men. These guys are getting million dollar salaries without results, sorry it speaks volume to those players being surrounded by good teams.
Trent Barrett is rubbish he should be drummed out of Rugby League, he is the fruits of players not building a career outside of football. They go running to channel nine âplease give me a job, because otherwise Iâll be unemployedâ. This is why I say players should be investing in life after football.
Trent Barrett is the type who gives you sales pitch, without the results. When the results donât match, those guys leave the sinking ship so they can say âWell I got out of that one, no those people should be held accountable for those decisions.â
Damn! Most heated discussion in a long time. I'm not a Bulldogs fan, but I feel for Barrett.

Spraying Kyle? Thatâs a cop out đ€Š

By far
Good on Gus for taking charge. Bulldogâs are a 30 min side at best no guts, no grit, no determination and are unfit. They need this spray 10 times over just to let them know that all their jobs are on the line. Ow and Trent Barrett good guy yes however not a head coach, assistant coach at best.
Far out. Itâs pretty obvious to me (full disclosure I am a Dogs fan) that Buzz and the NewsCorp journos hate Gould. Gus has never respected Buzz, Gus sees him as a headline/clickbait chasing journo that doesnât understand or care about the game, only about his headlines. Regardless of where the Bulldogs are at this time, I am so happy that we have Gus at the club. Read was spot on that this was a ploy between Barret and Gus to give the players a spray. Dogs had their opportunities to win the game against the Broncos, and the players need to understand that (like the tigers) they are closer to winning games than the media will tell them. The 360 boys are making mountains out of mole hills. Keep the faith Doggies supporters our time will come
Long live King Gus! They were still against him after he got the result. He's done more in this game than anyone in the history of Rugby League. What amazes me is that people still question his desicions and actions.
What is your coaching record Buzz?
Surprise surpriseâŠ.whomever employed Barrett after his dreadful performance at Manly is to blame. Seriously how can you be surprised.
Could be worse, Worriors against Storm đđđ
However gus is the boss man and since he has the position he needs to do something regardless. Don't see an issue with the godly spray from.gus
The current Bulldogs board is directly responsible for their position at the moment. When they sacked Dean Pay, they undid 2 years of development, of a team of no-names, that put in 100% every week. Last year was wasted, this year is wasted, next year looks wasted.
And lets not mention the 'back ended deals' that were set up by Tod Greenberg and Railine Castle, created this mess.
Say what you will about Gus, but he did create an excellent system at Penrith. The system is working so well, that they cannot hold on to the talent they foster. The Bulldogs have been spending more resources trying to poach Penrith players than developing their own.
Completely agreed. I thought that the bulldogs team played with huge effort and constant improvement under Dean Pay, they had a worse roster to the rest of the competition and 3 million in the cap to spare but the sacked one of their own to let Barrett spend it.
Facts
As a doggie that was very refreshing to hear
Whats crazy is the roster they got and tigers are higher then them on the ladder đ
I could watch this instead of my warriors losing to storm
Lol so much Mayo, feel like I should've brought some chips
Kenty said he has lived through it before. You didn't live through it you were aware of it you observed it like everyone else. But only the coaches that you mentioned actually lived through it. What sort of person claims they have lived through it when they were just watching from the sidelines.
Paul Kent, Paul Kent does that he's been "around" so damn long and been friends with some inner people and no surprise it's gone straight to his head. Lol the man talks like he's been doing the hard yards on the field, disagreed and tried to correct someone like Cooper cronk on several occasions.
He didnt mean it literally you butt hurt dumbass.
I mean he has lived through it 4 times as a journo he never said he lived through it in the thick of things
Every head coach of every team in every sport brings in different people from different areas to talk to the team or someone else to run a part of the session or maybe the whole session. I don't see the big deal. As a former coach I've done it myself
And yet gould has acomplished 10 times more than any of these clowns on the panel
I guess the players needed that bake form Gus ⊠coz itâs heart breaking seeing our team performance every week ..
Kenty said it best though I must admit, if they win its because of pus Gould... if they lose its because of Barrett...
That was pretty entertaining đ!
This is proof that Barret is not first grade coaching material. Thatâs the second club he has failed at.
Barrett isnât working ! Didnât work at manly , didnât work at Canterbury ! Gus is right !
Ready is spot on without a doubt.
Gus sat back as long as he couldâŠ. End of the day something had to changeâŠ
Sandercock lol I bet that name made him tough
Maybe polished a few? lol
@@stuff1035 hahaha nice.
Dean Pay and Des Hazler failed to turn this team around in the last decade or so. Good players came from 5 or 6 different clubs and the only solution for this club will be having patience and giving them time to play togather as a group and create strong combinations. Gus, needs to use this time to create a stable and robust club administration. Also he needs to focus and develop the bulldogs academy. Changing a coach because 17 players didn't play well has been a norm in this club and is not the right solution. Time-patience from club admin/fans, and commitment-effort from players is the solution.
They all didnât know
Phil had Cam up his sleeve
I hear Kyle's old man ain't a bad coach and he's available.

He should. Gus is a Muppet who has no clue when its comes to team selection. He still thinks papi isn't origin worthy lol
Straight up disrespecting Gus Barrettâs not a head coach and if I was a doggies fan I wouldnât have a problem with what Gus has done they need results
People who work for Fox Sports bagging out a guy that works for 9WWS. Deffs no media biased here.
Barrett isn't going anywhere, it's a 3-5 year rebuild...not a 1 1/2 year rebuild. Gus obviously knows what he is doing, look at Penrith. Barrett will get this season and next to save his job.
RIP Trent Barrett
Suddenly they are holding the tigers up as the example of successful club coach management... 2 weeks ago they wanted the board fired and madge out. LOL absolute jokers.
Gould literally built penrith up, we didnt get rid of him and get a premiership, he built all the pathways that got us that premiership.
Lay off the dogs, Lay off the Tigers and get new material. Gus could forget more about the game of rugby league then Buzz and Paul Kent could ever know.
If Gus was with Fox and not channel 9 wouod this even be a topic....?? On channel 9 it would of course. Thank God we have 4 panelists with GM experience giving us their opinions...
Gus has a superiority complex, he actually thinks he's the god of rugby league. He will always be second fiddle to Wayne Bennett
Hes still a rugby league genius
I think Paul Kent is the one with the complex.
Stick to being extinct you silly old bird
Phil Gould is no fool and knows what heâs doing. Kent gives only one side of what happened.
would gus have won the origin series that made him famous if he didn't have joey john and other all time greats ?
This point it's players not giving 100%
Sounds to me like "ole 2 bob-each-way-Gus/everywhere is belting Trents team into the mud. NZs only rep side is still recovering from an outing by COVID-Gus. And its only now that the red&white illawarra team is recovering 3 yrs after Gus gave them a touch-up (too).
As a doggies fan hearing this is hard to listen to and scares me
Not a huge Gould fan because he can be captain deflecto but in this case I don't believe its him trying to exert his authority. Barrett was having major difficulties getting a rise out of these players. Also well done Trent Barrett for having the humility to accept help. Awkwardness is overrated .. if the right outcome happens - do what you gotta do. In comparison, you look at N Brown, R Stuart, B Arthur .. not having anyone to answer to and they're stuck in the same place. Anyone with half a brain knows that the majority of the hard work has been done by Barrett and Gus is just making sure that hard work isn't for nothing. Gus has made mistakes in the past with being heavy handed but this isn't one of them.
Up the storm
Bulldogs have the next 5 games that they can possibly win, so let's wait and see...
So far I was right...

This show should be renamed to NRL Witchhunt. Every week it's the same thing witch hunt a team or player. Next week it will be about dragons or tigers depending on who loses. Never anything positive.
So Gus dealt out a spray⊠whatâs the problem.
I don't know what the issue here is, putting this into a coporate context it's the equivalent of a salea team who has been underperforming for 2 years ie not meeting sales target, and rather than the sales manager its the COO or CFO coming in to lambast the sales team. Whats wrong with that, the dogs deserve it with the way there were playing.
How about some context to Trent Barrettâs coaching historyâŠ.When he was at Manly they didnt do so well with their season when he was head coach thereâŠand now weâre seeing an even worse run with the DoggiesâŠ
Iâm not a Canterbury supporter but seriouslyâŠBarret leading them has not done them any favours and if Gould has had to step in, then honestly- it might not look good for Barret having him come in, but Barretâs not really done himself any favours if you look at his coaching history since retiring from professional football.
This aged like milk boys great "journalism"
Gus loves speed
Bulldogs just versed manly, storm, rabbits, panthers and now roosters this week, these journos need to chill
It don't matter who is winning or losing, dogs, dragons, sharks or whoever..
It's a 2 horse race
Penrith or Penrith and maybe Melbourne coming in 3rd..

Kenty is a has been who never was and he's still salty about it
Well said kenty and buzz...also Barrett is a flop as a coach.
Well tigers are 2-0 so cant RIP madge this week
The Canterbury board needs to reprimand Gus to not over step ever again like he did. This has a negative trickle down effect on the entire roster reducing millions of dollars of talent to the mental waste bin. Also, Trent needs to be replaced forthwith with a more seasoned Head Coach. He has proven that he is only good to be Assistant Coach and is no where near Head Coach material. Stats don't lie. Neither does the score board.
buz is the reason gus is at dogs and is saying he is done haha bulldogs drama is your fault phill
Benerts no god right
Why hire a coach ( barret) who had been fired by the last club he coached at because he couldnât win any games. The blame lies on the prick or pricks who hired Barret.
