  • The Acura RDX is all-new for 2019 with a longer, wider body and longer wheelbase for more space inside. The RDX is now powered by a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 272hp and 280lb.-ft. of torque through a 10-speed automatic and then to the super handling all wheel drive or SH-AWD. The rear torque vectoring system is paired with a front brake assist to make the RDX carve through the corners. The all-new 2019 Acura RDX has room for 5-passngers over two rows of seats. the interior is beautifully built with a new 10.2-inch centre screen that is controlled by the new Acura True Touchpad. Every RDX comes with a standard , led headlamps and tail lamps. The top Elite model of the RDX gets adaptive suspension but this is not available on the sportier looking A-Spec model that is equipped with black 20-inch wheels and more aggressive trim.

    I agree. The adaptive suspension should have been offered on the ASpec but also the heads up display is only available on the top model and not the Aspec.
    Finally, why is the blue exterior with red seats not available in Canada? It’s shown on many of reviews and in the states only.

    Still driving my wife's well cared for Gen 1 RDX. Most forget that this new one is closer to that game changer when it first came out then the last cargo hauler version. At any rate this is "again" on our list of crossovers to drive next year along with the Alfa, Porsche, Jag, Merc, and Audi. I do agree that the suspension option, HUD, etc. should be on the A-Spec not another option level. However, I am sure they didn't miss the mark by doing that--lot's of bean counters made that call. Still...I hope by next year they would consider the Turbo 6 in this ride...my guess is the MDX will have to have a performance option so this one is what it is.

    I bought the top of the line Acura AWD for 2019, absolutely LOVE IT!!!!! It has LOTS OF POWER, beautiful gray leather upholstery, folding side mirrors, very very tight turn radius (wonderful), heads up display, roomy. This is my second Acura. I bought my first one in 2004 an Acura TL, never had a problem with it, beautiful car and drove like a dream. Because I loved my Acura TL, I decided to go with another Acura. I love the RDX. Fun to drive!!! When I want it to mooooove, no hesitation whatsoever, great for freeway driving. It handles beautifully. Highly recommend it. By the way the mouse pad control, love it. I learned it in 5 minutes so don't worry about the comments that might be negative. It's a snap to use. Bells and whistles? This car has everything. I'm thrilled with it. By the way, I've had it going on 8 weeks, so I'm still in the "thrill of the ride" of it all.

      Only thing killing it is the halogen rear signal when the CRV has a nice LED signal and not being able to move the 2nd row seats like they added to the 2014 MDX, Helps a lot in versatility for cargo.

    Good stuff but pair the 10 spd auto to the previous 3.5L v6 and it would have been faster than this 2.0T. I think the acceleration and mpg improvement is more attributable of the 10 spd than the turbo. Plus, the v6 is smoother, has proven is long term reliability, and a matchless exhaust note.. . To me, turbo 4 will never be as good as a v6. «No replacement for displacement» :

  • @danpollutro
    @danpollutro Před 6 lety +1

    Thigh extension only available on highest trim, either Acura's dumb or it better be a typo? They really screwed up the options list, Aspec should get more as standard with adaptive suspension being a must. The new blue is only on Aspec, so if I want color I need to lose options.

  • @joed6096
    @joed6096 Před 6 lety

    The big thing in new cars is the additive safety features. The lane keeper, which doesn't work in the 2017 RDX on tight freeway curves or the stopping feature which doesn't work under 35 MPH, which means BANG. How about evaluating all those features.

  • @tntmyth
    @tntmyth Před 6 lety +6

    Wow. Acura really kicked up the price. The 2018 RDX was really a great SUV and an excellent deal. I like the looks of the new model inside and out but it might be too gimicky for me personally. So I guess you have to reach around to the bottom of the dash to plug in your phone charger? That's not so easily accessible. The drive mode knob in the middle of the dash might be cool but it's also obnoxious for something I will probably end up leaving on one setting and not using most of the time but I always have to look at it. It would have been better to make it a button next to the shifter. Oh that's right... There is no shifter. Maybe I'm getting old but I like having a lever like I have used my entire driving life and putting my car into Reverse and back into Drive and Park without having to look at the shift mechanism every time. And why pump fake engine noise into the cabin? It's a luxury SUV not a race car video game at a 1990's arcade. And the part about having to buy the upper trims to get leather is really insulting at this price. There are lots of other choices at that $50,000 price point and for less too. I think Audi has it sorted out best for what buyers want with their Q5 in this category. Fast, quiet, luxurious. No artificial noise. Standard AWD and real leather standard on every trim level. Conservative and classy. Depends what you want I guess. Some people might want something with more forward design and outside the box and the RDX is that.

    • @dysonmyson449
      @dysonmyson449 Před 6 lety +1

      Gary Brown The RDX isn't for people who pay for the badge. People who care about the badge will buy the German option even if the RDX is better.

    • @josephsaric401
      @josephsaric401 Před 6 lety

      You are clearly old and no longer understand numbers/price points. Try building a Q5 with similar lay out as this trim and tell me it isn’t $50K+! Stop fearing change and learn how to shift without looking down considering it only takes pushing a button which would be faster and require less effort then shifting a lever. How are you going to complain about throttle noise being sent to the cabin? It sounds great. It’s not wind noise or the sound a car makes when going over a pothole. Literally not a single gripe you mentioned is legit.

    • @tntmyth
      @tntmyth Před 6 lety +2

      Joseph Saric, if you look around, most car journalists comment that the push button controls are not intuitive. If push button shifters were so great they would have caught on with the Edsel Teletouch. And the shifters that snap back and forth are not optimal either. Accidents have happened and people like Anton Yelchin have died because they didn't know what gear the car was in. And the whole thing about fake engine noise... It's fake. Let the engine sound like it does. Why not make a Tesla sound like it has a V8? Nothing wrong with quiet acceleration if that's what the car does.

    • @Lucky8s

    Great, great review Zack. You managed to point out a couple of facts no one else has mentioned before in their lengthy reviews. Glad you brought up the $cdn pricing increase because the previous value is no longer there. No question the RDX seems to be a great, much improved vehicle but I don't see how I would not take a Q5 Technik over the top of Platinum Elite (same price). Also depending of your priorities you can even get a Q5 cheaper than the RDX.
    Acura should be careful. They remind me of Cadillac who upped their game a lot but then tried to charge the same price as the German competition and we all know how badly it failed.

      Ben Haze Some people buy what they like and some buy what others will like. A lot of people buy the badge and not the car. You can too.

      True, of course. But you are missing my point completely by trying to belittle my statement and bringing up the badge. Unfortunately a lot of people are not able to appreciate the level of engineering put in a vehicle. You are likely one of them.

      he is way off on pricing. RDX starts at around $37,300 and tops out at $48,395. Don't know where he got his information from but is completely wrong.

      no he is not. he gave canadian pricing and we do not get apparently the same value as the US does

    I like the 2019 Infiniti QX50 much better.....much larger vehicle especially cargo space and that cool new engine they have.....but this one certainly has me scratching my head as to perhaps I should take it for a test spin.....

    A solid effort by Acura but not totally sold on it just yet, you can buy a Kia Sorento with as nice an interior with more features in the SX plus trim. It gets 8 km/l with more power and has 2 extra seats if needed, just saying.

      Go with the Volvo Xc60 or the Q5.. if you want a luxury vehicle the Kia won't ever hit that base.
