    Yu is so accurate... That Qh6 was really surprising and it gave the only chance to get something of the game.

    Anna, hope to be watching you play for many many years to come. Jennifer Yu is a strong player, still a great watch.

    Game was tough from the start. Jennifer Yu is such a strong player and US Women's Champion for a reason. Watching was like she was skating on ice and you skating on quicksand. You tried your best. Enjoy your off day and get ready for the game vs Alexandra on Monday. Go Anna, Go! 💗

    Great game and stream. Favorite part though has to be chat completely freaking out over the amount of tabs Anna had open during the post game analysis.

    6... Bd6 got me worried. Be7, breaking the pin, is better. It would improve your game tremendously to have an opening repertoire that enables you to blitz the first dozen moves and have a good position.

    Of course, it's no shame to lose against a player, who even beat Irina Krush, but perhaps playing more intuitively would be better, than investing 20 or 30 minutes in individual moves.

    Yeah, here is my commentary after the game: I think you play too passively, not actively enough; it might be what holds you back from getting higher. Like, in your after game talks, you are always so afraid of certain moves that you shouldn't be. I also think you didn't develop the pieces enough and have them work together towards an active plan. I think she won because she's better at positional play, too.
    Positional play is something I don't get; I need to work on that. Yeah, high elos don't seem to blunder often, so you have to win without taking advantage of them. I think there was one move she did that was marked as a missed opportunity or mistake, but you didn't find the move to counter it with due to time.
    1 draw, 1 win, 1 lost. It doesn't seem too bad. Alex game should be fun on Monday. If you win that one, you are doing pretty good, I think.

      One thing I've always wondered is why doesn't Pia coach Anna to become a better chess player and fix these issues? Maybe I'm wrong and she does coach her or maybe Anna doesn't want to devote so much time to chess I'm not sure.

    • @AnthonySouls
      @AnthonySouls Před měsícem

      @@cankercanison92 I think Anna depends too much on blunders and trick plays, so higher elos don't make as many, then it comes down to who has the better positional gameplay and tactics. I don't know how important opening theory is, but I thought Anna talks about how she needs to study it, yet she hasn't yet. Perhaps that is why she gets into positional problems with high elo players.
      Also, it probably doesn't help that Anna gets nervous and psyched out by higher elos, IMO, like she becomes more passive than usual. Those are just my observations; I could be wrong.

    • @AnthonySouls
      @AnthonySouls Před měsícem

      @@cankercanison92 Oh, I forgot to add that I think both parents coach her, but I thought her dad coaches her more in tactical gameplay, while her mom is positional.

    • @emilys3757
      @emilys3757 Před měsícem +1

      @@AnthonySoulsI’ve definitely noticed as well that she plays far less confidently against higher rated players.

    • @hieu1807
      @hieu1807 Před měsícem

      @@AnthonySouls Opening theory is a must at master levels. The reason why she always gets into time trouble is mainly because she just doesn't know openings. She usually has to figure every position out on the spot, which is a recipe for disaster against stronger players. In early 2023, she said she would start to learn more openings. After 1.5 years, it's apparent that she hardly studied anything at all. It's fine that she's focusing on creating contents since it generates much more money than playing chess professionally. She's an adult now, so her parents can't always tell her what to do.
      By the way, Anna might have reached her peak around 2100. Advancing in higher levels of chess is extremely hard for 99.9% of the people. As a fan, I'll be here for the vibes and Pia's knowledge. Not expecting anything, result-wise.

    But what if Pia Cramling doesn't know that she is pronouncing "opponent" incorrectly and really wants to pronounce it correctly? On the other hand, I think it's totally cool if she knows she's pronouncing it wrong but wants to pronounce it that way. Respect for that. If that’s the case.
