South Africa is filled with all kinds of animals, but how many of you have heard of this one? The African Wild Dog -also known as the African Painted dog - because of its unique coat.
You may have not heard of them because this species has been seen as a pest to the region, so much so, they’ve been hunted to near extinction. But now, conservationists are working towards building the pack's biodiversity and, ultimately, saving the species.
This next film by director Emily Cross is called Part of the Pack. Make sure to stick around after the credits to hear from the filmmaker herself.

If there was a Disney type film made about these dogs I bet awareness and support will skyrocket.
It is bizarre to me that this is a little known species. I have known about them since the 90's.

mmmhhh not really unfortunately, look at rio (not made by disney but owned by them) those blue birds are still endangered and almost extinct :/ i think it would have the opposite effect where it would make people want to own them and poachers would have at it :/

@@julm7744 I think that, taking into consideration that South Africa has a population of approximately 60 million, it is important not to generalize, because surely nobody interested in the conservation of wild dogs has the intent to harm them. As for you calling us out as "your people", be more specific and don't make hasty generalizations. However, the culprits are probably motivated by negative perceptions on wild dogs.

3:25 Wish conservationist would take heed to my suggestion about since they can't stop poachers and setting traps n snares that at least try to get them to use something like nylin instead of wire bc then at least the AWD would have a chance to chew itself free using it's scissor like sharp sheering teeth to cut threw, where as the intended prey only have vegetation grinding flat molars unlikely to chew threw. That would likely help tremendously. We need to do the best and most we can to help ensure this remarkable species survival done it's man's fault for devastating their numbers, all bc of a misunderstanding, misperception, and sheer ignorance or hatred for them.
