Looks like a male , beautiful one too. I have a 16inch male jag with a 10 inch Red Devil female. He’s very timid and shy aswell , he’s not aggressive at all towards the Red Devil, they get on great.

Thanks, yea my guy use to be super shy, now he almost acts like a dog and follows me as I move along the tank. Definitely interested in seeing your tank setup
