    Nothing challenging or complicated about his antenna. Just wrap around 19' of 22 gauge coated wire around 15' of rope. Add 8' of Squiddy ground plane and THAT'S IT! Tune it by cutting or folding the end length to get a remarkable 1:1 SWR. IT WORKS! Just watch to see.
    Huge Thanks to VA7BIX for the support and inventing the Squiddy. This will not be as awesome without it.

    You might check out the SurvivorCord from Titan Paracord. It's 550 paracord with additional filaments including "a 30 AWG metallic alloy utility wire making it perfect for small hunting snares, HAM radio antennae extensions, and other survival uses."

    I'm working on a random wire rubber duck. So far the toroids I've been using haven't been behaving as expected but I still have lots to try before giving up and using nonscrap.

      I've used poly twine from electric fence for radials. Cheap and yellow so people see them.

    Love your channel and your videos Wes! Curious what the rope adds? Couldn't you just pull the wire up in the tree?

    • @MrMudsHamRadioRadioTime
      @MrMudsHamRadioRadioTime  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Great question. The total length is shortened by winding on the rope. You then don’t need to throw your line as high but at a cost of efficiency of the antenna. It was just a fun project and a start of other projects linked to this set up.

    Did u use an antenna analyzer?

    • @MrMudsHamRadioRadioTime
      @MrMudsHamRadioRadioTime  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes I used a nano vna to sweep it during the build to see if it would even work. The sweep result is in the video.
