Fabi has no ego, that was so cool
Fabi has a healthy ego where he doesn’t act narcissistically but still moves with the poise and confidence justified by his skill level. I don’t think he has no ego, but rather just the right amount as an elder statesman of the game.

I’d really like to see Fabi be #1 for at least a moment, he deserves it, the more I watch him the more I really like him.
This was Anna’s plan all along.

Yeah, 12:51 - 13:02 for those that missed it. It was a draw by repetition.
EDIT: this does not seem to be a three-fold. The position was only repeated 2 times.
This is not some high level tournament rules don't apply here.

@@roadwheels1 There was only a two-time repetition. The same position was never repeated three times. When Anna said "and now I can´t go back" she was aware of the repetition and avoided getting it a third time.
Fabi clearly saw the Mate in 44 in that final posistion, thats why he resigned :)
I think he saw the win way before he resigned.
Civilisation is playing chess, chatting nicely and having good manners. I felt so happy watching these two winners be civilised.
I never understand why grandmasters insult you, try to trick you, or play mind games, so I'm glad there are at least some decent high-ranking players out there. I really enjoyed the vibes in this video.
The thing is, if all GM's behaved like Caruana, chess probably wouldn't have got that much attention. Chess in this time and age is entertainment too, hence the success of people like the Botez sisters, for example. Guys like Fabio just don't sell.
In tournaments that behvior is illegal.

It's not about "who sells", Magnus didn't become a 5-time WC because he sells, he became a WC because he's great.
Neither Hikaru waited for the moment to become one of the best chess players in the world to become adversarial and kind of a dick sometimes.

I'm just saying that chess wouldn't be nearly as popular as it is today if the top players were all like Caruana, and that the players who contributed the most to chess becoming popular (Gotham for example) did so because they are able to sell the game due to being entertaining, and not solely because of their chess skills.

So true! And kinda sad... apparently they cut the horns off so frequently that humankind doesn't even remember they grow horns.
They cut them off because you should not have so many animals in one space, they get stressed and hurt each other. One way is to give them more space, the other way is to cut off the horns.
I think it depends on breed, but I am not an expert on bovines.
Fabi is my favourite. The way he glides the pieces across the board it’s so fluid - almost like a flow state. Makes it look absolutely effortless.

Fabi played that endgame so beautifully!!! I didn't know two rooks vs one could be so difficult to play! It didn't seem at all that Anna had a whole rook of advantage! That was the most grandmaster moment of the game for me!
I hope Fabi wins the championship 2026. The man is such a class act.
I so love how chill and nice Fabiano is! When Hans Niemann recently lost to Levy Rozman he was devastated. I understand these guys don't lose often. But it's nice to see some humility and grace among the giants of the game.

Fabi wins opening naming game for sure. The Cow is the Bull (half a word) opening, and his opening was to be the Goat. Such a quick and subtle wit.

I didn't know that Fabi's playing style is aggressive. Now that I know, I think you both have similar styles (tactile and do some deep think calculating lines). He has such a calming demeanor. It would be interesting to see more people playing the cow so you can get stats on its win rate. I wonder if the cow really does give you a bad middle game or not. Good job on the win. It does seem like Anna's and Fabiano's energy meshes well together, like their vibes get along.

Cows naturally have horns, not just the bulls. The horns are usually cut off by farmers, because it's easier/cheaper to keep them that way.

Congrats on a wonderful experience.
I hadn't played chess for years, because when I would go to this library years ago, there was a guy there that would play speed chess, and he would just beat me relentlessly, to the point I didn't want to play, he was a nice person, but he thought that was how someone would learn, but I never learned a fucking thing.
But I got "simply chess" on steam, for free. And just played a game, expecting to lose, against the computer.
But I actually won. And I did, at least the first 4 moves of the cow opening that I could remember.
I really have no idea what I was doing with the opening. But now I will try to understand openings more.
I was just shocked I won. I was still so traumatized from being blasted every time I played that guy, I almost ended the game part way through. But then I realized I might have a chance of winning, I found I could see moves. But the game wasn't a timed game.
