Bear Grylls Knife is available here: amzn.to/2gIghbD What is you experience with the knife?
Survival Lilly du bist deutsch habe ich bei survival mattin gesehen weil du deutsch geschrieben hast.
Survival Lilly I wish you would do a video on the proper way to gut a dear, you would prob have to warn people but I think it would be helpful, God bless.
I personally have a good experience with the knife since I speared a hog.
Bradley Sjolander even tough bear grylls is a tv show person I am still sure he will survive a real survival situation, longer than most people
I have this knife and I've got to say it's very good. Like you I've only needed to sharpen it once. It keeps the edge. I lost the firesteel though. What's not to like about Bear Grylls? He's awesome.
"I've had this knife for a couple of months...so far it hasn't let me down." Now let's see if I can destroy it. Way to treat a friend...
HA HA HA HA HA
Lol
This is a delicately well thought out comment... Well put.
really not nice way to treat a friend. i agree with u
I've had my knife for about two years and it's holding up quite well. Granted, I'm not out to purposely destroy it and I take care of it. I personally like Gerber products and have been using them since the early 90's. Great video as usual Lilly, have a nice day!

Not a survivalist you say? This is some of what he’s accomplished. Yeah jealousy is the root of most of his detractors. He doesn’t ask anybody like him anyway, but he’s accomplished more as a survivalist/ adventurer than anybody mentioned in this thread.
From 1994-1997, he served in the British Army with 21 SAS.[24]
On 16 May 1998, Grylls climbed to the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal, 18 months after breaking three vertebrae in a parachuting accident
1997, Grylls became the youngest Briton to climb Ama Dablam, a peak once described by Sir Edmund Hillary as "unclimbable".[30]
unassisted crossing of the north Atlantic Ocean, in an open rigid inflatable boat. Grylls and his team traveled in an eleven-metre-long boat and encountered force 8 gale winds with waves breaking over the boat while passing through icebergs in their journey from Halifax, Nova Scotia to John o' Groats, Scotland.[31]
Grylls created a world record for the highest open-air formal dinner party, which they did under a hot-air balloon at 7,600 metres (25,000 ft), dressed in full mess dress and oxygen masks.[32] To train for the event, he made over 200 parachute jumps.
In August 2010, Grylls led a team of five to take an ice-breaking rigid-inflatable boat (RIB) through 2,500 miles (4,000 km) of the ice-strewn Northwest Passage.
TCL well said 👍🏻
TCL
Bear grylls tor apart a car to make a shelter (a car is a shelter ).he sucked elephant shit and piss from a snake skin for water got sick and puked 10x as much water as he got .
Most if not all if the TV phony survival shows and youtube fail to teach about survival poaching ( hunting) .hunting deer at night is the best way to get one an option that shouldn't be over looked !
But if you want some real survival info .find a book called how to stay alive in the woods by bradford angeirs ( not sure of the spelling ) . All the stuff in the sas and most other so called survival books and shows are taken from his book . It should have been called living in the woods . There's is 10x more stuff in that book than any of the book the youtubers and TV jokes put out .real world stuff .not commie show approved crap .
Bear grylls showed mostly that you can't survive not how to ! (Politically correct bull shit )
Dale Carpenter : if it makes you feel better to bash BG go ahead. My first post listed a few stone cold accomplishments of his that very few people can put on a resume. His TV shows are entertainment and that’s all they are, I applaud him for making a good living and taking care of his family. So if you appreciate the way someone else approaches survival skills and generally living their life-- great!
TCL
If your talking about he sucks elephant shit comment ? I wasn't knocking him ( then ) he did suck elephant shit on his show ( and got puking sick).but his show blows any.but all the stupid survival shows suck not just his .
Those shows are commieized ( palitically correct bull shit )to the point of being useless stupid entertainment ( but there not entertaining)
But one of bg shows he take a car apart to make a shelter ( a car already is a shelter !). Now they may have told him to do that ? But he's always telling people to drink piss ( if you drank piss before your dehydrated maybe it would help ) if you drink piss when your really dehydrated its moztly salt .if you want to throw up anytime drink really salty water .but if throw up when you are dehydrated it it could be the end !but then again maybe the producer told him to do it .
Most of the shows show doing risky things that you wouldn't do because of the risk ( even a minor injury could be fatal when you can't go to a doctor ) so you don't take risks risks and i havent seen any of the shows show anyone deciding not to do a risky thing because you are in that situation .
Non of the sgows even on youtube show the best survival tactic .which is night survival poaching deer .if youre not going to show that even like the first thing to do after shelter and fire then is shit .youtube shows individual skills but not night survival poaching ( because hunting at all is not pc i guess?).
21st sas is a reserve unit btw
The best review on this product I nave seen . Totally unbiased and extremely fair.. Lilly tested everything that needed to be tested. Obviosely in her close up shots of the knife she keeps a good edge on her blade, and she has a lovely communication style, Well done Lilly.
One of the reasons there was so much hate online for this knife was because the original one had many flaws. They fixed it later but the steel was still subpar and that reputation followed it to this knife since many people are incapable of understanding that this is a different knife. The Ultimate Pro is actually quite good and would be better if they stopped with all that orange. Coodos to you, Lilly, for giving this knife a shot!
its orange for the novice who set their knife down and then cant find it because it looks like the forest
Coodos is spelled "Kudos"..Just so you know..lol
Jay Wanders Out
Amd it was marketed the same
I think they should rather stop making knifes black or green or brown. Next to impossible to find once lost somewhere in the forest
Agreed - except for the colour thing. Why would you need a knife to be black or camo unless you’re trying to hide it? Which means you see it as a weapon instead of a tool.
The orange colour makes it easier to find in the wilderness if lost and it shows that you’re not trying to hide it for whatever reason
Gerber makes great knives and I was very impressed by the tests, so I guess I'll buy one or two.
What a great video Lilly. I loved that you did a long term test on the knife before the destruction test. To many just do the destruction test and never really get to know thee knife. And thank you for the unbiased opinion. Love your work, keep it up.
i love the bear grylls knifes!!... i have abused mine for like 4 years now and it’s still as good as when i bought it
Nice to see your still going strong Lily. Keep up the good vids. appreciate all of them.
Holy test! That was very comprehensive! Thanks Lilly.
Btw, sorry about the comments - I didn't see what was going on until it was too late.
I’ve had this knife for roughly 4 yrs now and beat the hell out of it..... It’s still going strong!!
Ginger Bowman just picked up the BG Ultimate for $36 price was to good to pass up ,now I’m thinking I should of went with the Pro ? Your experience has been with the Pro model correct?
Ray Caroli.... yes I have the Pro model and I beat the snot out of it. I’ve chipped the blade on more than 1 occasion put it to a stone and its good to go. The Pro model is a full tang the Ultimate isn’t
Ginger Bowman thanks !
great video. ive been looking at this knife for a while and havent seen just how tough they are till this video, so thank you. I hope to see plenty more in-depth videos.
Alot of people love to hate on this knife cause of its designer and older brother (first version), and so I dont think it gets a fair shake. I'm happy to see someone be honest about it and talk about it fairly. I bought one a couple years ago now, and it has performed just fine. No fails. No breakage. Edge and steel held up fine. Plus, it has so really useful features on the sheath and knife itself, the hammer pommel comes to mind which I really like. I wont replace my ESEE's or other knives, but I wont be getting rid of it either. Gave it to my wife as a beginner knife for her and she really likes it and uses it well. Good size for her, comfortable handle and weight. Steel is great for a beginner as well since its not a super steel it wont be too hard to sharpen for them or someone who just has a hard time sharpening knives in general, but is also a decent toughness and holds a decent edge. I really dont have anything bad to say about it. Good review Lilly.
Survival of the Fittest were your fingers tired after that
Lilly . . excellent video quality.. sound and camera. I watch you because you are not a braggart, do not preach, and project the approach of the common person.. not some expert demanding that they know best. Your videos show you sometimes dropping something, or missing with the hammer, or other things that happen to real people. You are.. um.. real! Thanks
Thoughtful comment John. I too agree.
I have owned one of these BG knives for the past three years. This knife is amazing, I can't fault it. Good on you Lilly for keeping it real.
Bg ulti pro vs hydraulic press next !!!!
Based on your video I purchased one. I am totally pleased with it. I have never had a knife that was delivered so sharp. Thanks Lilly.
I can't wait to see your knife design. I hope it comes out soon.
I know right. Looking forward to purchasing one and then compare it to Joe Robinet's knife.
@Lilly just make sure u can top the MsK 1 an have a better price an u will dominate 😎
I'm holding out for the Lily knife.
Thank you Lilly for your honest assessment of this knife. I've owned this knife for years and Never 1 malfunction. Spot on with the grip notation. A friend of mine had one before me and just the grip alone sold me on it over others I was thinking about buying at the time. I have this knife on my SHTF armor vest....GREAT REVIEW!
A great comprehensive review, you may change my mind about Bear Grylls knives yet!
Thanks, unfortunately this video got restricted for under 18 year olds, thats why the views are quite low. :(
Survival Lilly no it knows I am 10 and I can see it
@@thesurivorthatwillsurive7324 yo, you just need to sign in I feel. Nothing on CZcams asked me my age and I have been watching everything.
for the money, can't beat it. really love ur videos also sir, good job.i tell all my freinds to watch the canaian prepper, smart man right there
I have had the same knife for about a year and a half, it has never let me down, I think it is a great blade
Glenn Cook yep me too
I own one of these knives, the design is great, works as advertised and is priced right.
Lilly,
I have a Gerber Dime. I keep it sharp and I take care of it otherwise. I carry it almost every day, on the other days I carry a USAF issued Camillus pocket utility knife. In addition I carry a pair of pliers. My favorite pair are about 60 year old Japanese drop forged slip-joint pliers. There is no brand name on the pliers. If I’m going hunting or fishing I carry a Case brand hunting knife that is about 60 years old.
I have found that the brand is not that important. What is important is how it looks, feels in one’s hand, how easy it is to maintain, and it’s utility.
When I go to the woods I carry a cruiser axe and a bow saw, and an entrenching tool. My entrenching tool is some Northern European army surplus. A cruiser axe is a single bit axe that is in size between a hatchet and a splitting axe. My entrenching tool has a shovel on one side and a pick on the other. I have learned that the females in my family want a latrine and fresh water for cooking and sanitation and hygiene so finally, I carry a bucket.
I could go on all day about this but I’ll stop here.
I enjoy you site.
I dont know why people are down on Bear, I think hes great and started a great thing, helping people see you can survive in survival situations if you just think. Loved this knife, seems to be a very durable one, enough to get you through the toughest survival situations, thanks for sharing.
Thank Lilly’s , you honesty is refreshing .
Thanks Lilly! I have the Bear Grills hatchet and love it. Now I need the long blade. Love your teepee! Great channel.
Nicely done! I appreciate your thoroughness and fair-mindedness. And in addition to that I also appreciate your willingness to ignore the kind of people you would never want to be stuck in a survival situation with anyway! Your review demonstrated that it is a very good knife at a very good price. I’m going to go ahead and buy one of the knives based on your video results, and I will buy it through your store. Thanks.
Your vídeos keep getting better! One of my favorite channel
I had a few of the Bear Grylls knives - I even keep one of the small folders in my purse with me at all times. Loved them. Great knives.
As always very informative. Love your videos. Keep them coming. All the best 👍👍👍
just bought mine today, Thanks Lilly for a great review.
How is it so far, now that it's been 2 years later?
Love the destruction testing, please keep the videos coming.
Good stuff! I have had this knife for a few years and I havent used it as extensive as you have but I still havent had any problems with it!! Thanks for the review!
Love bear grylls and have used a lot of his survival techniques when out in the woods or camping with nothing but a pack and no food for a week great experience while in the bush
I've had this knife for about 3 years. It's a good knife and I love the pommel.
In your opinion, do you think the pommel can be used as a glass breaker?
@@richardvoisin6080 I think a glass breaker needs a more pointed handle. This handle can easily be a hammer. I've driven many stakes with it.
Lilly, can you do a comprehensive comparison video of all of the knives you've used and rank them? Please compare them in a complete way. This knife comes with the integrated sharpener, survival manual, and fire steel in a nice compact design(IMO from looking at it online). All of that right on my belt is appealing to me. I'd like to see how they all line up including price in terms of value, and how they compare against one another from your perspective.
I'm not a consistent viewer, but I still enjoy your videos very much. You take a good approach to things and have good information to share.
I have had the original (3rd generation) with 7cr17 steel and it has worked just fine. I've used it a lot the past four years and it simply works. 1st gen. knives had a problem with the pommel coming loose, but Gerber quickly fixed the problem. I like mine.
That’s pretty amazing! I heard lots of bad things about his first design and that he made lots of changes in the newer one. It’s good to see that it took the abuse you gave it.
I just bought this knife this morning based on this video. If my experience lives up to my expectations because of this video, I am keeping this knife & planning on taking it on my next long hiking trip. I am also going to Alaska this summer & if possible I will be taking it to Alaska. I don't feel comfortable this knife is made in China, but after watching this video & other videos about this knife, I had to put my reservations aside & I wanted to try this knife for myself, I also know I can return it with a full money-back guarantee, if I am not satisfied, so I'm comfortable about that. Thank you for this video.
Great knife test
I feel like theres just some subscribers that dislike the video just to dislike it, I see nothing wrong with it, let alone all the other videos with a few dislikes. I could never find a reason to not like them, keep up the greaat work!!
Hi Lilly,
Thank YOU! I have had this knife for well over a year. It is great. I think people are too easily influenced. The grip is very good. The balance is correct and the spine is good for a fire steel. I am pleased that you made your own opinion. Respect!
I have purchased this knife because of you review. Thanks Lilly!
Thank you SL! Now I know it will survive my annual backpacking trip and will likely last me a really, really long time!
Well just as an advice or information about stainless alloys and that is the fact that almost ALL stainless steel will rust eventually, especially in salt or acidic environment.
Hey, even your pots for cooking will start to get a milk-like tint inside them after awhile, especially if you use a dishwasher, why? because the dishwasher tablet is acidic, and maybe you use salt when cooking let's say pasta so that's probably way your knife rusted when visited the Mediterranean.
So if we sum it up unless they make knives in 316LSi (or higher stronger alloys) they will rust, period.
Titanium won't rust or corrode anytime soon, it is said to "rust" about 1mm per 10000 years in seawater, but it will chip when abused, doesn't like oxygen when heated and so on.
What makes a good knife for a given application is no mystery....just many makers don't care and rely mainly on hype to move their products. Gerber did a really good job on this one and can offer it at a really decent price (in N. America it can readily be found for $60 US). You can easily spend twice as much and get half the value. Having once lost my knife in the leaf litter, I can really understand the use of screaming orange color in a survival knife. Nobody wants to lose their primary tool. As for the comments regarding Bear Grylls the man, this is a review of a product not a TV reality show personality. I've never met the man and doubt I ever will. What he does for TV probably has little to do with his true off-screen character. I know a few reality TV types and they are anything but what they portray on TV. They get paid to entertain and that is what producers are interested in.
Me: this knife is amazing!
Lilly: its not a bad knife 😩
I have waited this video for 3 months ago because I really interested in your opinion.
Totally agree with you nice video👍🏻
Me to
Grazie Lilly per le tue conoscenze condivise!!! É bello guardare i tuoi video....continua please!
I love alot of Gerber products and Bear Grylls he an entertainer and he's fun to watch his survival scenarios are just that they're just scenarios of what could or might happen but in a more dramatic and fantastic way it is after all an action show. I have no doubt that was his skills he could actually survive in a real survival situation for an extended period of time.
The blade and sheath are built for being ambidextrous in mind. You can turn the blade to wear it on the left side or the right side.
I have this knife too. Had my doubts initially, but the knife has been performing just fine. No complaints about it except for the glaring branding everywhere. Nice video Lily, keep them coming!
Thanks Lilly, great review. I also have this same knife and it is my only survival knife I have so far and I take hiking and occasional camping. Mine won't get a beating like that, good to know it can take a beating and survive! I'm glad I have my Gerber BG Ultimate Pro knife, I love it, the ergonomics are nice and it's comfortable to use. Your review gives me more confidence in it!
Thats one great knife, ill look into them. Thanks Lily, stay safe
You are awesome Survival Lilly. Thanks for all the great information and for taking the time to share. You should design a knife.
A well-designed, well-made tool is the thing: good designers need only to be that. Adventurers of any generation are only that; yet, public figures are both revered and hated. Let the products do the 'talking.' Your review of the knife was honest and fits very well with other reviews by 'hard core' users. This straight edged blade appeals more to me than the earlier blade with serrations right where bush crafters get the best leverage for cutting furz sticks (some say 'fuzz' sticks.) I don't cut a lot of cord in the outdoors. Gerber touts the 'rust-free' nature of the improved steel in your version of the long-lived knife...but they didn't match it against exposure to salt water on your week-long adventure...and even in your application, the oxidation didn't penetrate beyond the surface of the blade. Thanks Lilly for a useful and fair review of a fairly affordable knife.
Mine has served me very well but have had the back end come loose and I re-glued it and all is good for now
I like the way you have decided 'fuck the haters' and have tested this knife to its limits.
critics are "haters" huh?, go on, anencephalic fan
both hate all you want but the proof is in the video
a8 Some "critics" has grossly overstepped decency, just attacking her person, bad mouthing etc. thus label themselves haters. Brad Griffin talked about haters (see, the word "haters" is used), not critics, don't put words into others peoples mouth please.
Brad Griffin : me too.
ghanaboyz
I don't care about the "person", all I care is *objectivity* Vs. subjectivity; and "DESTRUCTION test" is a "new term" found after some of those so called "haters" espressed themselves after her misuse of a knife in the name of win some low quality viewers, creating a kind of..."trend" for those LQV and for the above mentioned end.
But you, of course, can call me "hater".
I love destructive tests about stuff I actually own!. I have both the ultimate and ultimate pro, just because I happened to get them at 50% rebate. Great knives, especially the pro, but you also need a better carving knife (a Mora is great for this budget range) for a great bushcrafting experience. Thanks for the test!
I have my doubts that Bear Grylls had anything to do with the design of this knife other than letting them put his name on it. That being said, I have liked and used Gerber knives for over 50 years. They are well constructed and their blades are not too hard, not too soft. You can get a comparable knifes, even other Gerber, for less money since part of the price of this one is the "BG" on it, which adds nothing to it's performance.
Duck Landes Your most likely right. I suspect that B.G. probably likes military type knives, and is use to that style because of his training. Gerber wouldn't have had to go to far out of their comfort zone in order to come up with a compromise.
In that case, can you point me to a comparable model that will save me a few bucks? :D
Thanks for your shared experiance
@@BowChickaHonkHonk1 may condor bushlore, real steel bushcraft gerber strongarm.I have my A1 Fällkniven
You convinced me when this video was first shown how good this knife really is. I had promised myself to buy one but still haven't. Being poor has its limitations.
I use the older version for all day hikes, and camping, in my videos its always attached to my pack.
thanx for another good video Survival Lilly
You did a really good job testing the blade. I will be looking it up for purchase.
Nice review Lilly!
I've always been happy with my Bear Grylls knife!
Hello from Oklahoma! That was some abuse alright! Made me cringe when you picked up the rock and tin can. Keep up the good work! God Bless!
Looks like an awesome knife. Greetings from Andreas on Off Grid Sweden
8:00 Don't do that please.
Yea I was cringing hoping the disaster didn't hit :(
Interesting, I tried Cold Steel and Mora knives (because of the price) and found the tips (of the Cold Steel brand) bend fairly easily, like when whittling a hole for a bow drill set and Mora knives are not full tang (although this may not matter since I never baton with a knife, I use a hatchet instead). Your testing far exceeds anything a knife should be subjected to, so I am highly impressed with the toughness of the Bear Grylls knife.
The main drawbacks (for me) are the size and the price. I use a $7 dollar knife I found on Amazon that has a 3.5 inch blade and does everything I need (whittling trap parts, skinning and gutting game, making feather sticks, and as a fire steel striker.)
I watched a movie (based on a true story) a couple of years ago about some African children (I think from the Sudan) who wandered in the wilderness for hundreds of miles with only a broken piece of glass as a cutting tool. I also found out that some indigenous people (where I live in the desert southwest of the U.S.) would simply use a sharp rock as a cutting tool and then discard it once the cutting task was done. Based on this information and my own experience, I think expending resources on a good quality knife so it can split wood is a waste. My bushcraft kit has a small knife, a hatchet, and a small saw. The total cost of everything is far less than the Bear Grylls knife, yet I think it is far more versatile.
My Favorite knife, Sentimentally was my First Purchase Of outdoor Gear. Mine has Developed much character in the time I've Owned it. I have used mine for Foraging tree and ground Fungus. As well as Everyday tasks. such as Fire starting. Skinning and Carving even. Excellent Destruction Test Lily. Bravo. Love your Series and Style of Presentation and Cinematography.
Hey Lilly,
I have several Bear Grylls items including this knife, I bought them because they were affordable. They all perform as advertised. I have always liked Gerber knives, I own quite a few. I get teased quite a bit about the mighty Bear Knife regardless it has never let me down, it does what I expect it to do and after a good bit of abuse it will still slice a tomato.
Lilly, we can't buy the Hoodies for man anymore, there are just Smalls and XXL's left.
Is it possible to chanze this?
I have the same opinion about the ultimate Pro.
Its a pretty good performing knife and i love the grip on the handle.
(Truly), just comparing with Mora or the Esee 4, but still the most comfortable handle of the 3.

what makes you think it wasn't sponsored. You don't think she actually bought it herself do you! If they give you a free knife to test, thats a sponsor.

Good job, appreciate your honest appraisal :-)
i really love your content keep doing what your doing
I’ve had one for a few years now and apart from the coating and ferro rod, it is still as good as new. I’ve carved hundreds of fish bones with it as well
decent knife for everyday use but not tough enough for actual survival situations. i got this knife as a gift from a friend and i used it everyday around the house and in the woods for a year and a half with no problems. one day, i decided to torture test it to see if it can survive abuse and it broke. the strong arm is way better option than this guy if you're looking for a budget survival knife. the strongarm with it's USA 420 hc and good heat treat made the strongarm a beast of a knife.
Wanted to say we love you and keep up the good work
I very much agree on the fact that ultra hard modern steels will chip, while the cheaper but tougher 440 type steel are much better for a survival knife. And a well hardened and tempered 440C will perform splendid as a hunting knife. I would get the Gerber Strongarm though - but that is just because I like the design better.
Good testing. Good information.
Thanks!
I just bought the Gerber Prodigy Fine edge, 420HC, same as the Strong Arm..I really like the value, and its thickness..
This was actually my first backcountry knife. I managed to bust about 3mm of the tip off by throwing it at a tree, missing, and finding the only stone in the area. Alcohol may have been a factor.
Aside from that unfortunate incident, I found the knife to be excellent. Holds a great edge, easy to sharpen, and very tough.
In the end I bought a Benchmade Arvensis because I wanted something bigger (and stainless) for battoning larger wood. Totally different class of knife, but I recently went and held my BG knife and it really is very nice. Comfortable, balanced, well built, and well thought out. Brought me back to the adventures I'd had with it.
I think your assessment is spot on! Keep up the great work. Love your channel! :)
They make GREAT products for battonning wood...they are called hatchets
Hatchets are great, and I do have one (also a Gerber). But, a) it's extra weight, and b) it can be dangerous.
One night I was about 5km out of basecamp, alone, -20C. It was so peaceful and beautiful I decided the stay the rest of the night until dawn (told them I might), and built a fire. I was processing firewood around 4am, tired, and was swinging away at a large log that was suspended in the air at an awkward angle.
I glanced it, and my hatchet bounced off right toward my shin. Poor technique, exhaustion, awkward positioning.. whatever it was, I sliced through my snowpants and missed my leg by no more than a centimeter.
Needless to say, I was rattled. I had no radio, and only a basic medkit. I was at least an hour's hike through rough terrain, and it was 4am. My whistle would have done no good until the morning.
If I'd gotten myself good, I could well have bled out. I decided to stop carrying a hatchet out in the backcountry after that night. I carry a Laplander and a big knife; battonning works absolutely fine, and the risk of injury is much lower.
Obviously correct technique would have prevented this, and hatchets *can* be used safely. But for me, it's not worth the risk; one slip is all it takes.
Well said Gordon. I've had people say just carry a hatchet, like they are experts. And at home, an axe is great, driving out to a campsite with a jeep, you don't need to worry about weight. But when you're hiking on foot, especially when it's miles, you want to carry as little weight as possible.
Also battoning with a knife is far safer than chopping with an axe or hatchet.
This knife has been a good one to me. I've used and abused it a lot. I'm not a fan of Gerber for certain reasons but this is a good knife despite what some negative online reviews say about it.
Nice review Lilly! And thank you for saying the truth about this great knife!
Oh, my, all of this Bear Grylls hatred! Now, I am not a Grylls fan; everyone knows that his TV show, MAN vs. WILD, was a fraud. However, placed in a true survival situation, he would survive much longer than any of the haters here! As for the knife, why hate it just because it has his name on it?! It is a good knife. People can be so ridiculous!
@@redw0lf848 Didn't say he was a fraud, I said his show was, as is well documented.
The Bear Grylls brand got off to a rocky start with Gerber, but they corrected some issues to the point where their large fixed blade is actually a decent knife for the money. Not the best, but decent. As for putting a knife through a torture test, if that's the measure of a knife you might want to pay a few bucks more and get a Becker BK2.
The les stroud/camillus knives are generally considered a bit better overall.
You should test one.
It would be interesting to see a comparison of a few knives in this price point. I don't like how flashy that particular knife is but it preforms quite well - what else is there?
FromThe Prairies Gerber price range . Smith and Wesson
Cold Steel G.I. Tanto for less than 30 bucks and made of high carbon steel
FromThe Prairies This knife runs for about $71 on Amazon. You could try wildernessoutfitters.com and look at their knives which are all made in the USA and range in price from about $40 and up. I bought a knife from them and I love it.
FromThe Prairies a bunch of better knives !
Very professional. Nice vid
Nice video! Thanks. I just discovered you through "the Canadian preper". I've had this knife for almost 2 years now. Yes, it's a very good knife. I did not buy it because of Bear Gryllls but because of the good reviews. Heck, didn't know who Bear G was until researching this knife. (don't have cable).
Mad respect for bear grylls and I love this knife. I got it on amazon for 40 bucks on sale and that's a damn steal
Profanity
Based on this review Lilly, I have ordered one of the knives.
Likewise, and that was 2 years ago. It's still going strong after my abuse, I just need to put a good edge back on it. Ordered a knife sharpener to do it, because I don't want to ruin the blade with cheap/dumb methods.
On an unrelated note are those onesie pajamas hanging over the tent entrance?
If you had to choose the mora garberg or bear grylls ultimate pro which one would it be?
I have both the 3/4 and full tang versions just because I stumbled on them at half price. It is a perfectly good knife and works just fine. I have done stupid stuff with them, and found they actually are very resistant knives. There is nothing wrong with this knife, well, maybe because it is sorta corny to have a knife with Bear Grill's initials on it, but I would trust these more than many regular brands. The haters definitely never tried them or swear by 300$+ knives only (which means they probably never tried them...)
I own many Gerber - Bear Grylls branded - products; three of which are these knives - maybe the larger blade later generation editions. I have had no problems with any of the Gerber products.
I'm just fortunate to be able to get the Gerber products on discount first when they hit the shelves.
