- Full expose on both games coming soon!
EDIT: Wow this blew up, ill be making a full thought out video soon, finally getting this channel active again.
Also: Red Barron 3d is available on steam, called Red Baron Pack for $9.99 if anyone sees this video and wants to experience some nostalgia you wont need to set up a virtual machine and dust off your cd rom drive like I did! - Zábava
Red Barron 3D was awesome for its time.. the only real drawback was that it did not have playable two-seaters
I KNOW RIGHT!!!
I'd usually just carpet bomb the aerodromes with the infinte bombs. Mission success! :D
This was the first 3d free upgrade, also was available ad a mp game, that as also one of the very first ww1 games on dial up connection to the Internet, played many hours on this. Now prob more than 25 years later playing il2 flying circus with full VR.
My only complaint with modern IL-2 games is that the gameplay is more centered around multiplayer low level dogfights. Not what actual WWI and WWII missions with a full squadrons worth of aircraft were like or how long they were in the air for . So maybe this is what it’s like to fly a WWI or WWII airplane, but what was it like to fly a WWI or WWII airplane in combat on a mission over Europe in WWI or WWII?
The aesthetics in that game have lived rent free in my head for the majority of my life. This was an awesome comparison to experience!
Super glad you enjoyed!! going to be going a full long video soon!!
I agree, IL-2 Flying Circus is a dream come true! Realistic WW1 flights sims are rare, and compared to the easy, quick fun War Thunder gives, a lot of people are being discouraged by its difficulty...
Are you flying multiplayer? I'm Von Karstein, CO of J18, and I thank you for this video adverstising this great game! 😀
Take you back even further to "Knights of the Sky." That was pre Red Baron. I agree, IL-2 is a dream come true for WWI afficionados.
I started on the original red barron along with Aces Over Europe and the Pacific. When Red Barron 3d came out I spent all my time after school playing. I am so glad to see how far we've come, and I can't imagine where we will be in 20-30 years!
Me too, Sierra's Red Baron in 16 colors....top
I spent a huge amount of time playing Red Baron II. Had some epic times. Yeah, I used cheats like unlimited ammo and fuel, But I played a lot with the damage on. I had one pilot who was a freaking Houdini. I made every effort to soft land on the friendly side of the lines, but when I came down in no-man's land I was usually captured, and this one pilot career the guy just kept escaping after a few weeks. Back to the front in a new kite, eh what. Had so much fun in the DH2, though hated the lack of power. I could get it out of a spin pretty easy. Limped one home without a rudder. Fun times.
I USED TO DO THE SAME EXACT THIS AS A KID WITH MY BROTHER!!! We would play campaign mode and see who could survive to the end of the war with the most kills!
Flying Circus + Virtual Reality was the dream come true for me. Those planes are PERFECT for VR. You can duck and twist your head around to track them when they vanish behind the upper wing, fly in formation close enough to spit on your wingman, and you don't have very many instruments to tell you what's going on other than the (virtual) seat of your pants and what you can see and hear immediately around you... it's fantastic!
@@rampantcoyote3136 I COULD NOT AGREE MORE!! Is it all right with you if I include your comment here in my main video I’m making?
@@dj5quar3 Absolutely!
These are great sim times we are living. It’s mind boggling to think what are grandchildren will be experiencing.
Red Baron 3D was awesome
I still have the original box and manual
@@-few-fernando11 me too!! It’s how i got this footage :)
I used to play red Barron 2 on line with DSL back in like 1997 was fun
I got a few flight sims and a joystick from my grandpa a while back, (MSFS 2004, Secret Weapons over Normandy, Sidewinder, etc). I haven't gotten the chance to play many of the other ones, due to not having a disk drive on my PC, but what i _could_ play was IL-2 1946 by getting a key for it on steam.
Me and the mates have been trying to get a bombing run going for AGES in 1946 haha, and aye i fount out Red Barron 3d is available on steam!
Red Baron 3D - Masrepiece!!! Today only WOFF BH has the same spirit.
I really love it. I played the same old games back in the days.
The only thing that bothers me in flying circus/ IL2 is the long flight before the action happens. I have a motion seat. And when I fast forward the time, it really shakes me around. A option for jumping into action after the start and back to landing would be great. I think the old games had this option.
I believe that Microsoft combat flight simulator had this option but for your case i feel like a skip ahead option would be a good idea hahhahaha
My first flight game was Chocks Away on the Archimedes
That was an awesome game
@@andrewcraig4119 it really was. Taking a sopwith camel to 60,000 feet was funny 😂
I've thought aobut Red Baron 3d at least once a week since the mid 90s playing that as a kid EDIT I was playing just Red Baron not Red Baron 3d the graphics in this video are far an away better but it seems like its the same game play :)
I did this too , back in the day . 😀
I would play this and flying corps all the time as a kid. Got il2 1946 at a school book fair and played that ever since. I did try the newer il2’s and dcs but they can’t grab me like 1946 does especially with b.a.t
The first game reminds me of a simple flight simulator made like a Java applet (when that was a thing). I think I'm gonna look for it.
I thought this was gonna be Rise of Flight on my shitty laptop in 2012, trying to use a coontroller VS Il2 Flying Circus in 2024 with a flight stick, track IR and a good gaming PC
I loved this game! Had a shitty little joystick too!!
3000 hours and counting (and still being schooled lol)
@@davidbradley3227 300 hours here and still learning
I remember going to Curry's and seeing expansion packs for IL-2 Sturmovik in big boxes, isn't that game like 20 years old itself?
The series is. Great Battles, the latest installment, is a little younger. It's about the same age as War Thunder apparently.
@@hunormagyar1843 correct, but they are much more strict on flight models in IL-2 then in war thunder for obvious reasons
With unlimited ammo, I see.
Oh of course when I'm not playing multiplayer, so much fun!
Air Warrior was mine.
new video about to be lit
Damn straight brotha
My nickname on RB3D online was Fugazi, I remember LeChat, XXeuni..... anyone??
I think I got IL-2 on steam.
