- damianbacci.com In March of 2023 I had the honor & privilege to play with Bill Haley Jr. and the Comets at the Florida Strawberry Festival. Which is a annual event that dates back to 1930. What a thrill it was to perform with these gentlemen. Bill Jr. is certainly keeping the legacy of his father's music alive and well. Playing the music that I love with these fellow torch bearers certainly meant the world to me.

My first band in the mid 60s was with a couple guys in Swarthmore, PA. The drummer always said he had played with Bill Haley and the Comets. I had no way of telling as he may have been the third or fourth drummer, just saying. What had me thinking maybe he did was Swarthmore was near Chester, PA. That's where Haley spent a lot of time as a radio station musical director and where he put together his first band. So it may have been true.
You guys deserve an standing ovation!!!

Very Well done Damian, Ive seen some of the original comets many times god rest their souls...we have our own version of the band called phil haley and his comments and they are very good keeping their music alive here in the uk...

I’ve been playing guitar, since I was 12 years old playing copy tunes. Never really took lessons, although I wish I had earlier in my youth. I’m 54 now. I guess it’s not too late. 🎸👍

Hey Damian, super cool video. I live in "Sunny Tampa Bay" too. My elderly neighbor was a friend of Johnny Grande of the original Comets. They played accordion in Philadelphia back in the day.
