Learn and nail the basics of doing a a calypso leap! Follow this tutorial- with practice you'll be on your way to soaring. Practice and keep calypsoing :)
This actually helped a lot i was wanting to try out for drill team for my school and apparently we´re supposed to know how to do this, its really hard for me to do the leap and not get confused with the turns and all that but i think the leap is difficult for me cuz i´m a little more heavy weight but im kinda frustrated ughhhh
I'm glad it helped! Yeah it can be a lot to take in especially if you're just starting out. honestly practicing is the best way to get a hang of the movements!
Oh wow, and you’re just starting out? I’ve been dancing since I was 3, and the girls my age and even girls who are younger than me can do it and I wanted to learn how, and after a few tries I could get it pretty easily, but I couldn’t imagine doing it when I started out!
Just keep doing the Cheney (not sure if I spelled that right) over and over again and add the legs in. If you managed to get in a show you should be able to get the hang of it if you just practice for a while
I’m on my schools drill team and they make us try out for all the dances we do during football season. Tomorrow I have to try out for our Pom routine and there is a calypso in it. I don’t know how to do one at all, but this video did help me a tiny bit
i can do the turns and arms perfectly, i have my splits, my normal leap are almost perfect since i’m pretty flexible, but in a calypso i just can’t seem to have enough control or i just can’t get my legs in the specific position
What helped me a lot was remembering that to get into the sleep after the second Chanie was that you fan kick your leg that really helped me with the leg position
And lastly what my coach told me was to let your leg lead you if that makes sense let your leg pull you also keep your back leg in and attitude position and good luck!
Thank you so much this helped a lot, I was in dance for 5 years..5 years ago and just got back into it this year,in our opening dance for recital we have to do one and I’ve never learned how to
It's always so hard for to do this leap but face the front and not go off yo the side. Cause on drill we have to do that. I know it has to do with spotting But this helped!!
This is really helping for me,and I'm still practising my callypso. But,I did my calypso to the left, not to the right.Thank you for teached me how to do calypso jump.😊😊😊
Okay can anyone help me with this... I have the preparation for the calypso the only thing is I struggle getting my back leg up and actually jumping how would you fix that?? My back leg is not coming up
First of all work on your splits flexibility! Also, be sure to get a deep plie (bend or squat) before you jump so you can use that energy to push yourself off the floor. the more height you get in the air, the longer time you have to get both legs off the floor at the same time!
When I first started I was practicing some dance or strength related activity between 2-3 days a week and got the basic move down in a few weeks. I think if you really practice a lot it's possible to get it in a month!
Instead of Calypsoing
I keep on Collapsing
😂I’m dead same tho.😆💅
I watched 4 videos about calypso leap. This is only one which helped me

hint: its just a attitude with a turn in the beginning
Cecilia Salinas me too!!
Yo I see you in every calypso tutorial
I can't do it and I'm freaking out because I have a show and they want me to do a Calypso in the beginning of the choreography
It helps if you start out by perfecting your Stag jump and this thinking about it as a stag but your right leg is straight
Just keep doing the Cheney (not sure if I spelled that right) over and over again and add the legs in. If you managed to get in a show you should be able to get the hang of it if you just practice for a while

I believe you also plié your back leg or at least that’s what helps me
And lastly what my coach told me was to let your leg lead you if that makes sense let your leg pull you also keep your back leg in and attitude position and good luck!
I’ve been doing competitive dance for some time now and I just learned how to do this
Thank you so much this helped a lot, I was in dance for 5 years..5 years ago and just got back into it this year,in our opening dance for recital we have to do one and I’ve never learned how to

It's always so hard for to do this leap but face the front and not go off yo the side. Cause on drill we have to do that. I know it has to do with spotting
But this helped!!

How do you get both legs to split at the same time? My right leg always goes down before my left is up.

Thank you...I had the same problem

How long did it take to do it? Cause I want to learn it on short time (1 month or so?)
When I first started I was practicing some dance or strength related activity between 2-3 days a week and got the basic move down in a few weeks. I think if you really practice a lot it's possible to get it in a month!

Can you do the spilts?
@@swarnikasingh3306 yes
I cannot do it
Popcorncat Williams if you practice enough I'm sure you can get it😀😀
If you practice the movements a few times you can get the hang of it if you’re an experienced dancer
You can do it,with a lot of practice and patient, you'll get it in 1 month.
💯❤
