There's a pretty big chunk of this ride that is gone. Back in the 70s, right after you dive beneath the burning bridge and you see the moon and stars, there's a whole section where you meet more Baldknobbers, one of the Baldknobbers tries to drop a rock on you, and you curve around to the next floor above, where you approach what appears to be a cliff, before avoiding it at the last second. You then move toward the train, which is where the current track picks up during the ride.
Today is the last day of this ride’s operation. I’ve been riding this ride my whole life and since the time this video was upload it has gone through a few changes, but this is how I always picture the ride. Sad to see it go but excited for the new Fire in the Hole to open next year!
I LOVE this ride! IF I could ride any roller coaster in the ride this would be the one! I had an "experience" happen to me when I was young barely adult in there that made the workers promise they'd always take the ride with me. *smiles* I LOVE it and ALWAYS will! So glad it's still there! Hope it's always there!
I remember going to SDC, and riding Fire in the Hole. It would scare the crap out of me because I was only 8. Never went on it again. Wow, its been over a decade. I feel old now...
classic silver dollar city ride, i got there every summer at least two or three times, and of course during christmas, and i ALWAYS ride fire in the hole(: how can you not?
i love the end. they spray water on you. except in the winter. just a little bit in the winter. but there are a few hills you go down. and sometimes you dont know when they will happen.
I rode this when I was about 4 years old and all I had was this vague memory of a light coming at me and then going fast suddenly. This is the first time I've seen it since then, and now it kind of makes sense. I just remember I was terrified as a 4 year old.
I've been on that ride many times. One of my brothers said he one of the times he went on it, it stopped, too bad I wasn't there :( The atmosphere of the ride is freaky. All of the smells and the sounds make it feel scary. A long time ago my oldest brother was in the front car and we were heading up to the first drop where it looks like there's a sign or wooden thing to hold on to. He held up his arms trying to grab it and WOOSH we started going down.
Great ride - went several years ago again, still one of the better coasters today. They have changed around a few things but still the same great time riding it. As far as the guy hurt, this was a maintenance mistake and the track was accidentally switched to a service bay with a low ceiling and the guy hit his head and was killed - 1980.
I LOVE this ride...but the first time...Like I thought we were gonna crash into the train and when we went down, it was just like BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Fri. night - 3-4 hour drive, if do'n the speed limit - motel room - straight to bed - up at 5-6 am - drive to the Scenic Overlook on 76, before we go to City by breakfast time at 8am.... The rest is history.
dmi3011 - - we was gunna be there this weekend but it got too cold. no trips for us till next year. there's a good pizza place in Branson West too, cant recall the name of it tho'..
We just got back from Branson and SDC> Took my son on "Fire in the Hole" and he was screaming bloody murder b/c of the "Baldknobber" characters. Even my wife said that the masks they wore were demented looking. I think they were cool , I want one for halloween. :)
i went on when i was like 5 years old and my cousin told me there were no drops or hills and there was and i freaked out and so every year that i went i wouldnt go on
I adore this ride. Do they still have that stupid laser tag crap all over the Flooded Mine? I hate that they did that. At 33 I can actually remember Rube Dugan's Diving Bell. :)
I went there when I was 5 Someone told me it was just like a train ride to stop panicking so I was at the very end of the ride and there were two big drops and I started crying because it scared me really bad andthe person lied to me
ive got a vague memory similar to yours, i went to silver dollar city when i was about 6 or so...and i was terrified...all i remember a guy making an evil laugh and they said "fire in the hole" and we dropped...thats about it. i'd love to go back and re-ride it.
everybody is quiet on the ride used to we i went like three times a year everybody would be screaming and at the last drop down everybody would yell FIRE IN THE HOLE so loud that you couldn't even hear the prerecorded voice saying it wow things have changed in the three or four years i haven't been there sniff sniff sad thing is i am only 13 so i used to go there every year with my boy scouts yes yes i am a girl who was in boy scouts get over girls scout is stupid they don't do fun stuff
Stupid ti close a ride that is over 50 years old. People have memories of this and removing it is taring out a part of the parks history. I dont care that they are making a new one it isnt the same.
Red Flanders you come back in here and put on your pants well Sadie I ain't got no pants no more the dang baldknobbers stole em stole em? How does that help with any of our plans? Lol
And sadly over the years since this footage was shot this ride has become a victim of our modern snowflake PC culture, most of the gun scenes have been removed and some of the animatronics and sound effects have been modified or left in disrepair leaving the ride a shell of its former self. And now rumors are growing stronger that the ride may meet its demise in another year or two. A lot of history will be lost here and I still don't know how to feel about that. I love SDC but losing this ride would be like ripping out the heart and soul of the park and the history its based on.
I’m not sure if you’ve seen yet, but you might’ve noticed the construction of a giant show building over on Fireman’s Landing. There’s a lot a speculation going around but many have come to the conclusion that Fire in the Hole will be rebuilt over there. Frankly the ride does need it. So while the old one might go away soon, I’m sure the newer one will not disappoint.
the smell of that ride takes me back to when i was a kid
Legendary ride. Not that intense, but when you don't know what's coming next, it can take you by surprise.
Man, I haven't been on this ride since the summer of '97. Still exactly the way I remember it!
This is an all time classic. It's been here since the park debuted.
i'm go'n this weekend - glad some1 finally post'd this ride!
Today is the last day of this ride’s operation. I’ve been riding this ride my whole life and since the time this video was upload it has gone through a few changes, but this is how I always picture the ride. Sad to see it go but excited for the new Fire in the Hole to open next year!

classic silver dollar city ride, i got there every summer at least two or three times, and of course during christmas, and i ALWAYS ride fire in the hole(: how can you not?
i agree.
the reason this ride is so busy is because its so nostalgic, & the kids can ride it too, its INSIDE & its not too scary.
this is one of my favorite rides. i'm goin there tomarrow, and i'll ride it about 20 times (like always)!
That ride is so fun!
I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!

Great ride - went several years ago again, still one of the better coasters today. They have changed around a few things but still the same great time riding it. As far as the guy hurt, this was a maintenance mistake and the track was accidentally switched to a service bay with a low ceiling and the guy hit his head and was killed - 1980.
I love that the water drops from the ceiling
I LOVE this ride...but the first time...Like I thought we were gonna crash into the train and when we went down, it was just like BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
they've changed it up SO much...even just in the past four years...
I love that organ music.
Yeah it sounds like an organ but I'm pretty sure it's an orchestra playing that's what I always assumed is that was an organ
this ride scared the crap out of me!!!
SDCGirl - so do we! We go to SDC as much as you do it looks like, but, we drive from KC, Mo.

I love fire in the hole!
if you were stuck in there long enough, the strange music over lapping eachother, and the dark could make u go crzy! O.o
Me too! I'm 34 and remember Rube Dugan's Diving Bell! I'm not a fan of the guns in the mine either, but what can you do?
The 3 drops is gonna be at 3am to 4am in the morning
Hey! I went there a couple of weeks ago. If u really want cool rides go on Powder Keg and Wildfire! :) ITS AWESOME!
dmi3011 - - we was gunna be there this weekend but it got too cold. no trips for us till next year. there's a good pizza place in Branson West too, cant recall the name of it tho'..
I heard that the food at Silver Dollar City is very good.
I ddn't think they still had it, but I'm not sure. I herd that song guy stood up in the ride and got his head cut off.
Thumbs up if you love to yell out fire in the hole right before you go down xP
i havent been on it yet....i went yesterday and it broke down right before i got on
@Beergut222 i rode yesterday and it is like that. Maybe they were restoring it or cleaning it when you rode it!
When we went it wasn't busy. It was hot so the water rides were PACKED.
We just got back from Branson and SDC> Took my son on "Fire in the Hole" and he was screaming bloody murder b/c of the "Baldknobber" characters. Even my wife said that the masks they wore were demented looking. I think they were cool

i thought that ride was super boring
Baldknobbers = Scariest things on the planet. xD
