    Do you take macro shots?

      Actually about to be paid to do the photography at a wedding reception... My kit includes 24mm f2.8, 16-35mm f4, and a 50mm 1.8... was thinking to grab this lens even tho on full frame it's a 45mm 3.5; I'm after the macro abilities. This won't be a wedding wedding, so do u think this set up will be efficient?

    • @conveyorofrandomness
      @conveyorofrandomness  Před rokem +1

      That setup sounds good. Have you photographed a wedding before? I was thinking, have you got a zoom lens that would allow you to get those closer up shots without being too close to the action?

    • @PancakeDiaries
      @PancakeDiaries Před rokem

      @@conveyorofrandomness no, and that's my problem. I been thinking of getting an 85mm 1.8 for getting closer to the action. Can't afford one of the tele zooms rn, so the 85/127.5mm at 1.8 would be clutch. I've never shot a wedding, and probably would've turned that down. I only have the one body, so I wouldn't even play myself

    Personally I use this lens as my go to for street photography. As I have a silver A6000 which it pretty much permanently sits on, it makes the camera look more like a fixed lens point and shoot which can really help for blending in at times when you don’t want to stand out in the crowd.
    Also I find it surprisingly capable of producing decent quality images at night as well, as long as you are in a well lit city and don’t mind the odd bit of grain here and there of course!

    youtube popped this review up for me this morning - I enjoyed your presentation, liked the photos taken and agree, this macro lens is cheap. It will join my ZV-E10 on outings throughout Summer & Autumn. Great review, Thanks Andre!

      Thanks for the kind comments. I was getting frustrated by the coverage out there on this lens. I’d had it in my amazon wishlist for over a year, and the reviews basically said it was a bad lens.

    i got mine from amazon and the specks say Lens-based optical image stabilization
    Gyro sensors built into the lens detect even the slightest movement, and the stabilization lens is precisely shifted to counteract any image blur that might occur. The use of precision, quiet linear motors and technology inherited from high-end Sony professional camcorders results in exceptionally quiet, effective image stabilization that contributes to high-quality movies as well as stills. so im confused about the no in lens stabilization

    Thanks for video. I know this is technically a macro lens but i see you taking beautiful non macro pics as well. How would compare this lens to the 35mm f1.8 for all around lens(not macro)… i feel like i could save some money and just get this macro lens… is it a good compromise or the 35mm still WAY better?
    Thanks in advance

      Glad you enjoyed the video. The main issue I find with this lens is the F stop, at F3.5 the type of shots you're going to be able to get compared to the 35mm F1.8 is going to depend on the light conditions of you're environment (which may get frustrating) and the background focus ("bokeh") is going to be different too. But it just depends on your budget.

    Hi. I am using A6000 + Sigma 30f1.4. Should I buy 30mm macro lens? Because I'm afraid that the focus will overlap when I'm not using it for macro purposes. Or would I buy the 60mm macro MF? Thanks!

    • @conveyorofrandomness
      @conveyorofrandomness  Před 8 měsíci

      personally, I would get the 60mm macro, mainly because it's a different focal length as you will get that overlap, and at least you've got two different lenses options for when you're not doing macro shots

    So would this lens work for videotography? Looking for a macro lense filming and taking photos of food and cooking tutorials. I have a old sony nex-f3.

    • @conveyorofrandomness
      @conveyorofrandomness  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I think this would definitely be good for those close up shots of food and video shots that you are looking for. For those talking head shots, probably not unless you move the camera back (furthering the distance between yourself and the camera) or get a wide angle lens. Hope that helps 👍🏾

    What about using it for taking eye 👁️ macro? Is it good?

    • @conveyorofrandomness
      @conveyorofrandomness  Před 3 měsíci

      Because of the minimum focus distance it is good but you’ll just need to make sure you’ve got enough light to illuminate the scene

    How will this macro behave on a A7 ii sony full frame camera?

    • @conveyorofrandomness
      @conveyorofrandomness  Před 8 měsíci

      You will probably have to crop in as it is an APS-C lens (or put it in APS-C mode), as you will probably experience vignetting on your full frame camera.

  • @MegaUltraSuperDuable
    @MegaUltraSuperDuable Před 10 měsíci

    Im going to say its a very good macro lens however it is not good for macro photography on insects and animals because you need to get way up close and it will most of the cases scare the insect/animal away before you can get your photo.

    • @conveyorofrandomness
      @conveyorofrandomness  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I agree in most cases, but I have managed to get up close shots of some of the more braver insects and animals
