So this was a ridiculous idea that my dad came up with, and for some crazy reason, we decided to go along with it! Desolation Wilderness is one of the most beautiful places in Lake Tahoe, and our favorite place to backpack in the area.
But, today we decided to tackle the entirety of the thru-hike in ONE DAY. The longest day hike we had done previously was 24 miles in the Enchantments in Washington, so this was quite the next step.
Please enjoy what started as a really beautiful hike, and turned into one of the hardest days we've ever had😅

I recommend adding to your get ready for a big trip checklist to make sure you update AllTrails. The only time I’ve had issues is when I forgot to check for updates. When you’re out there it’s usually to late because there’s no service.

omg i just finished the whole trt today! i did it in 13 days, 11 days hiking 2 zeros and my longest day was 26.5 miles! can’t imagine over 30 miles in a day!
