I have a 79 Alaskan that I rebuilt last year. I love the Alaskan design…its a hard shell with a lot of room, and compact enough that it doesn’t limit where I can go.

For my tent, I had the same issue with the weird packed shape. I bought a 20L compression bag from osprey and it works so well to make the tent a more manageable thing to pack.

$550 is PRICEY for a heavy nylon tent. Would take a durston x mid over that any day

The woman version is much warmer it has 8oz more down. The men is a 28° and the woman tested comfort is 17°. Rei has since stopped making these and now has a 22° with lots of options for sizes

We did the same 10 yrs ago❤❤❤❤❤in Sedona at sunset while out of where a big group of Asians started to sing as the sunset started. It is very magical. And yours was AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL with the rainbow ❤❤❤❤❤
