    Great idea. I keep the idea of a cutting board cabinet just right hand when working on the island. I had a 10 inch space left I did not yet know what to do with. Thank you.

    any reason not to use Ikea dishwasher instead of the one you chose? also, I thought S-traps were illegal,....?

    I did similar, I tiled the bottom and sloped it slightly to the front - hopefully if there is a leak or spill of cleaning fluid it will drip out the front. The sink bottom always seems to be the first thing to rot away.

    How did you fill the space between the cabinet walls and the drywall? There’s 1/2” gap between them.

    I just came across this video and like the way you installed things. I however, sure wish you would post links to things that you install that are a little unusual, like those computer cable grommets. I looked on Amazon and couldn't find anything that looked like that.

    It looks very nice, but you should realy look up galvanic corrosion, when you join copper pipes together with other metal fittings, it will cause problems. just saying it to help.

    Is your p trap to code? Look like it might siphon all the water out of the trap

    • @remosewa

      @@postbeam8200 you have an S trap, not a P trap. You need to vent before you go down. Look up S traps and why they're not to code.

    • @envisionelectronics
      @envisionelectronics Před 2 lety +2

      @@postbeam8200 Arrogant much? Your trap isn’t vented so when the sink drains, the only path for air is through the sink drain. This will result in the water within the trap being sucked out such that it cannot seal against sewer gases. But you already seem like a know it all, so good luck with your stinky kitchen.
      Look up air admittance valve and if your state allows them.

    I’m trying to change the sink but it’s attached to the rails and there’s a slab of granite on top. Is there any way to change the sink without moving then granite? Can I cut the rail brackets and try using something else?

    What was the width of the sheet pan storage? Love the idea and have a 4" filler next to my sink, but seems like 4" may be too small to do it.

    • @postbeam8200
      @postbeam8200  Před 3 lety

      Yea it is a little small, I only had 4" of space to work with. And I was limited by how tall the Drawer front was. It fits a cutting board that is 18" x 24". But you're right it should be wider.

    How you make the holes on the sink
    Cabinet for the pipes?

    • @postbeam8200
      @postbeam8200  Před 2 lety +1

      I use a hole saw drill bit. You need to be careful drilling into the SEKTON cabinets because the will tear out a lot, but the hole saw and drilling through some masking tape will help ensure a nice clean cut. Good luck!

  • @BrentDaughertyMe

    You did so much customization to the cabinets. Why not just make them from scratch?

    • @postbeam8200
      @postbeam8200  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Brent good question! Before I bought the IKEA cabinets I did make "practice" custom from scratch and I learned a few things. First it cost more than just buying an IKEA cabinet, because the BLUM hinges (that's the Austrian hardware brand) cost a lot more for me to buy them individually than for IKEA which buys them wholesale. That same idea applies to plywood, drawers, etc. It's kinda like building a car from scratch in your garage vs. buying factory made car and changing the wheels and tinting the windows. So I went with IKEA and have just been making modifications where they are needed.

    • @BrentDaughertyMe
      @BrentDaughertyMe Před 3 lety

      @@postbeam8200 That makes sense for the hinges. I know Ikea stuff is usually particleboard so I wonder how well it will do in a wet kitchen.
