    Very interesting history on the Kohinoor !!! ??? Wonder how accurate it really is. William Dalrymple is ten sheets to the wind !!! LOL Very colorful. I think Britain should return the Kohinoor to India with a note attached, apologizing for all of the damage they did in India for 200 years !

    A question for WD: It was mentioned Maharaja Ranjit Singh did not care about the diamond returning to India, he was more interested that an Afghan or Persian treasure was now conquered by him...then why did he want to gift it to the Puri temple?

    Look at what's happening now to Bengali coastline, "Hope island" - is about to be destroyed. The catastrophic implications of this is irriversable. Lost for ever.

    The diamond was most probably from south India, krishna or godavari basin, and yet everyone including Pakistan claims it. Bizarre.
