You know it's nuts is a couple asylums shut down around 95. Chestnut Lodge in Maryland that was the case most of it was sold off little by little and redeveloped. The oldest building was eventually burned to The ground by arson. Wonder why a bunch of those places shut down in that year?

I don’t understand insane asylums curing people by torturing them. Maybe there was some thought put into it. But success should be the feedback they were looking for. One does not repeatedly treat patients until the treatment kills them.
I don't think their main objective was cure, but was more about research. I believe that's what the torture was about
