  • A first impressions review of the Karcher K5 pressure washer. After replacing my aging K4 I decided to go for another Karcher mainly down to price and warranty length.

    The Product comes with a scan code that enables you to register the product and shows step by step how to set up K5 and which screws to use where. This is far better than the paper manual

    Thanks for this lifesaving explanation. I would still be busy if I had to do it with just the manual. Also a thumb up for your presentation. No unnecessary music and no "What's up pepole" shouting. For this non native English speaker you have a beautifull articulation which is very easy to follow and a pleasure for the ear. I am glad I found this video

    Legend. I almost cried when I saw the different screws and what only be described as abysmal pictogram instructions. Terrible.
    I too struggled to fathom which screws were for which and mine too included the irrelevant instructions for the wheels.
    I also had an issue pairing the lace and discoverd that you can reset the connection by unplugging from the power, holding +/- until it flashes, then re connecting the power and holding +/- again. Bingo!
    Your video gave me real life confidence to overcome the terrible instructions. Thanks. 👍

    The karcher cube series is better because they use standard M22 fittings so u can upgrade the gun and hose. The k 1-5 have proprietary fittings so you can only extend the current hose, can’t replace it. Even to do that you still have to hunt down aftermarket adapters.

    great video,many thanks,we would have struggled to set it up otherwise...we haven’t used it yet,but have a couple of questions that you might be able to help with...1.when the 3 in one jet is attached,we see that you can turn the settings round and it clicks on each turn...we are maybe being stupid,but what do you line it up with to show what setting you’re on ? ...2. are we right in thinking that you can use the pressure washer without the Karcher detergent,presumably you can just use water ? ...you clearly know what you’re doing and we would appreciate your advice...

    • @knewideas3860
      @knewideas3860  Před 4 lety

      Yes the lining up thing isn’t great as there’s no mark to line it up to, just something you get used to.
      It’s also possible to attach it the wrong way round which is a pain but not a deal killer. Yes you can use any detergent, although I’m sure there’s some fine print in the warranty which says that you can’t.

    Other than getting the hose connector turned around (watch out for that one), the machine is simple to put together and use czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP . And very nice, too. I'm surprised at the power-it's more than we'll ever need, and we've not even used the most powerful setting yet.I've cleaned off a dirty concrete porch to get it ready for sealing, started to clean siding, and I know this pressure washer will be terrific for cleaning tools this fall.The only issue we had is we had turned around the hose connector, and it leaked. Once it was on correctly, though, we had no problems with the connection. Just remember that the end with the green knob goes towards the hose. It's obvious now what we did wrong, but not necessarily obvious at the time.

    In section diagrams where they ask to put screw, they actually show on top what screw to use (graying out other screws and keeping screws to use as dark colored).
    However since everything is black and white it gets mixed up and you don’t easily see them.
    Infact once you see this part, then installation is easy. Before you figure this it feels like a guess game and total nightmare!

      I tried putting it on a table and shaking it, the screw got a bit stuck just beside the hose input nozzle. I then found a strong neodymium magnet which I managed to use to guide the screw down towards the hole.

    I really wish I had watched this video before I attempted assembly as I made exactly the same mistake as you did with accidentally dropping the base screw inside the machine. The instructions neither indicated which parts were the dowels nor were the screws in any way labelled. On opening the box one of the dowels was pushed inside the low pressure inlet connection which gave me the impression that this part had something to do with the water pressure regulation. It isn’t, of course, but I leave this information for the benefit of anyone else who might have similar difficulties. Only when I watched this video did I understand that these were the mysterious dowels which I could not locate in the box, You did not indicate how to get the screw out of the inside of the washer. I have not done it yet although I can see it is going to be very tedious. I certainly could not assemble this in 5 minutes. I have not, as yet, got round to working out the use of the hose but it looks like another IQ test which I am likely to have problems with. Thanks

    • @knewideas3860
      @knewideas3860  Před 3 lety

    Hi just to let you know you need to line up the yellow strip of the extension wand to the gun and you will have a much better results of the Karcher . Because you plug in the wrong side of the wand to the gun they need to line up the gun and the wand with the yellow strip 🧐🧐🧐

    Hello each and all, Just purchased a 'K5 Full Power Control' to replace the Karcher K4 I took back to B & Q for a full refund (good service from B&Q by the way). I got a refurbished K5 from their own shop. The lance indicator never made it to the top of the indicator on the lance, not once. Went on CZcams for help tried what they suggested but no luck. Karcher are not open on Saturday so that was a waste of a day. If I am able to I will return it for a full refund as after two of them ~ I am "Pressured off". Purchase date of the K5 15th May 2021

    Further to my comment re the K5 pressure washer made today 5th Dec 2020 . I finally got the orphaned base screw out from the inside to the unit by partially unscrewing the back of the new machine This is held on by a series of T10 Torx self tapping type screws about 20mm in length. Fortunately I had the right size Torx driver. I did not have to completely remove the back just removing enough screws to be able to lever a gap between the front and back of the machine. The machine is quite heavy and shaking it up and down trying to hold a gap was not a great way to start with a new device. Watch this space for further antics und Kärcher, bitte schön, machen Sie etwas mit diesem Anweisungen ☹️

      It looks like most pressure washers under £500 suffer from the same issue and I can’t justify spending that sort of money on something I only use about twice a month.
      If I needed it for my business I would look at something more substantial.

    Worst pressure washer I've ever owned. Plastic hose is terrible an every time I went to use it the pressure switch was " so called air locked an wouldn't switch on, had to run mains supply water through the machine for 5 to 10 minutes to activate the switch to get machine working,. Power control lasted till machines warranty expired an then LCD screen died..
    Too bad as the old Karcher machines where great an less complicated, less to go wrong.
