    😎I think you may have been born to produce video tutorials sir. Great advice delivered in a no nonsense manner and overall extremely watchable. When I opened the box for my new Karcher K5 I was quite annoyed at the fact that "some assembly was required" and a glance at the instructions had me headed straight for the internet to see if there were any videos showing step by step, dreading the experience as so many videos are so hard to watch. Imagine my surprise and pleasure when I came across the three wonderful videos you produced on how to assemble and use the K5 properly. One would assume you work for the BBC on a professional production, so informative yet entertaining and done at a pace that was just perfect to follow, not rushed through or moving at a snails pace and frustrating me into skipping anything to get to the point. In addition to the task I bought the K5 for, I am now itching to try it out on my car and driveway too. Thankyou so much Peter.

I hope you never feel bad about people not getting the exact wood working video or whatever they where expecting. Your stuff is always useful to so many Peter, keep it up and thanks for the video. As mentioned in your previous K5 video, I do have that machine and, as it happens, I have a horrifyingly dirty car as well - so this is a very nice reminder to deal with that, using said machine. Hi Peter, just bought a Karcher k5 pressure washer. Looking forward to cleaning my slabs with the special circular washing supplied with my karcher. Used to own a karcher, as yourself ended gifting it to my daughter as we had a small pressure washer gifted to us. Big mistake, or not as bought the K5 with the attachment. It took me over an hour to wash 8 slabs with the small one, so looking forward to using the karcher to finish the patio and footpath.
    Thankyou for your instructions to put it together and instructions cleaning slabs. Very very clear and discriptive. Good job as we didnt receive instructions or guarantee with our new pressure washer. Will contact Karcher.

    As always, an informative video. I use a similar method for my car to minimise the strain on my arthritic wrists and fingers - a legacy of a career as a marine biologist with my hands forever in cold seawater. I also live in area with exceptional hard water (high calcium carbonate content), so even brushing off with clean tap water still leaves stubborn water marks, especially on glass.
    In the past I have had to resort to polishing these out, negating most of the benefits of pressure washing. However, a few months ago I came across a very useful tip on Graeme Pullen’s TA fishing channel, describing his lockdown distraction activities, where he finished of washing his car by rinsing it with clean rainwater from a watering can and just giving the windows a wipe with a chamois leather. I have since tested this approach and found it to work well, though I would add an important caveat, i.e. only take water from the top of the rainwater butt or tank so as to avoid the sludge in the bottom which may be gritty, particularly if the water is collected from a modern tiled roof

    As a car detailer you have alot to improve on, if that car was black you'd soon throw that brush away and never go anywhere near paint with it again. Firstly you should always start with wheels as you did, then apply snow foam to a dry car for the soap to soften and lift the dirt with lubrication then you pressure wash it all off and then only then you go in with a contact wash with a good quality mitt NOT a brush that will absolutely maul your paint. You should always aim to remove as much dirt as possible before you contact wash reason being is you're dragging the dirt across your paint, hence why you snow foam first then pressure wash your car effectively giving you as clean a surface as possible to make contact with when going in with a mitt!

    I'm afraid I'm with the others on not using brushes anywhere near a car. Your paint will have swirl marks all over it. But what really intrigued me was the advice not to point the washer at parking sensors. Surely (on an autobahn, obviously) a car with a high top speed traveling in excess of 150mph (or higher) will suffer significantly more pressure on the sensors than the Karcher will deliver? And in the rain it will be high-pressure water hitting the car too at those speeds.

    • @NewBritWorkshop
      @NewBritWorkshop  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Connor, I don't suppose you would take a car through a car wash but those brushes are far gentler than a car wash. On the parking sensors, I see your point but I think that the high pressure and concentrated volume of water would be more damaging than rain at autobahn speeds. Perhaps pressure washer manufacturers have to protect themselves a bit too. Cheers. Peter

    A brush is just going to damage the paint... Get a wash mitt and a bucket and just go over the car with it after you've foamed it.

  • @1oldson

    watch a few car detailing videos and put those brushes in the bin.
    for the amount of damage you are potentially doing to your clearcoat, your best off leaving the dirt on.

    If your car was full of crap on the roof you'd have to start from the top to the bottom. Otherwise all the dust and sand and whatever it is on the roof will end up all over the whole car anyway. You starting up from the bottom then up would result in you having to wash again.

    Im 65 and found it a bit patronising, so i assume you've aimed it at older folks that rarely wash their own cars. So sorry, but its buckets and sheepskin mitt after the snow foam, then dry off. Nice, clear and precise though.👍

    Never use a brush on your car paint….only lightly use a care mitten-you’re scraping the paint.

    • @NewBritWorkshop
      @NewBritWorkshop  Před 10 měsíci

      The problem with any item you use is that there is a danger of scratching especially from cloths and sponges which get bits of grit lodged in their fibre.

      @@NewBritWorkshop its not the tool thats damaging the paintwork (clearcoat) its the amount of dirt and grit that is still on the paint that does the damage.

    Bad quality. Mine stopped working after few years. With little use. I have cared for it all the right ways. Very expensive, happy in the beginning, angry and sad now.

    I can't understand.
    So if you think you have good advices for your next apple pie, or lawm mowing, this will end up in a video?
    I watched a lot of your woodworking videos, and liked it, learnt a lot.
    I'm sorry to tell, but with videos like this, you lower the overall quality of your woodworking series. I wouldn't trust a woodworking video from a car washer specialist.
    So, I don't see the point. Don't take it personally, but you should really stick to what you master, high quality woodworking.

      Surely it’s reasonable for Peter to have another interest other than Woodworking?
      The title is in the video, it’s not like he advertised it as “How to do dovetail joints” and then you got a car washing video.
      It’s Peters channel he can put on whatever he likes - you’re not forced to watch it or even pay for it!
