- I've said before, I was a little disappointed in the performance of the No Prep car at 132ft. It wasn't as fast as I had hoped and I was giving it everything it had. I took the plunge and bought one of the new Trinity Drag Master motors and I'm excited to see what kind of power it has. I also did some work on the suspension. Testing didn't really happen as the weather isn't too great. Hoping for some better weather soon to really see what it's got!

What shock towers are they for? I didn’t catch what car you started off with.
@@FPSTinter The original car I started with was a B5M. I think the SC5M rear tower is the same though.

Thanks! The 3d prints can break sometimes but they're easy and convenient. I recently made a video on some carbon fiber ones I made that should hold up a lot better!!
Really enjoy your videos and always learn something new so thanks for that . One thing that i notice in the no prep world is this leaning toward the vertical position of the shocks which is based in good theory and geometry and you explained it well but in the RC world this theory is flawed . It is based on real world drag car setup but all these cars have solid rear axles that move vertically not a control arm that moves in an arc like in RC drag cars . When vertical the control arm will move in its arc applying a slightly inward force on the bottom of the shock . If you want to be directly under the shock you need to tip the shock in slightly at the top or out on the bottom . Now the difference between these two setups i would predict to be not noticeable but the issue still exist .
I've actually thought about this recently when working on my DR10M. I do believe you are correct but like you said, at this scale and the amount that the shock needs to be tipped, it may not be noticeable. On something like the DR10M, the shocks are close enough to parallel where I think I get the best of both worlds in a way. Thanks for the support!!

You guys really should look into a 3.5t Surpass Racing motor. It is much stronger than the Trinity motor. I hold the 2s dragster record in the RCDRL with it.

Im so confused lol what’s the difference between the higher turn motor due to the 2.5t motor? The higher number is less power?
Typically the lower turn the higher rpm. Kinda opposite of kv, where higher numbers mean higher rpm.

Hi I have the same motor with a hobbywing max 10 n when I slam the throttle it jus bumps forward But if I roll the throttle it Blastts like suppose to ..What u think could be wrong?? I set my throttle calibration
If I remember correctly, the Hobbywing had a throttle punch type of setting. Maybe that could be limiting it from going full throttle when you are slamming it. Is that ESC sensored though? That would seem like a senor wire unplugged symptom too but I'm not sure if that ESC is sensored.

I run the 2.5t rotor ron version of this motor its insane pulls a wheelie when my boost comes in mid track smh🤦♂️
Wow!! The plus side tho is you can turn it down to keep it tame and still have that power to add in later. Or add more weight on the nose or downforce 🤷🏻♂️
I run these motors in xrays, one on 4s and one on 6s.....friggin monsters!!!!

Hey man love the build tips and your builds are super clean. I'm building my first drag car at the moment and was wondering if you like the 2 pole motor better with the adjustable timing? I have a mamba x laying around with there 4 pole sensored and also have quite a few 2 pole motors kicking around. What is your preference?
Thanks! I haven't really played around with the adjustable timing on the motor just yet so I can't really comment on it. The main thing is to be sure to use a sensored motor so you don't get any cogging or stuttering off the line!

What was the end result with it I just ordered one yesterday for my dr 10 what driff oil should I use
I run a locked diff so I can't advise you on any particular wt oil. I'm really pleased with the motor, just make sure your ESC can handle it!
FullThrottleRC I plan on running a quickrun 120 amp esc it’s rated for a 3.5 turn you think it handle it also how did you lock yours
@@ejb2184 Without looking up the specs of the ESC I can't tell you but it sounds like it will if its rated for 3.5 turn. I locked the diff with epoxy.

The mamba has no issues running a 2 pole motor? I just bought a motiv launch and hoping the mamba x will work with it...
I ended up having a little trouble with it. You can see in some of my later videos, I was able to make a couple passes and then would get an overpower warning, and had to let the car sit for a few minutes before I could run again.
FullThrottleRC so have you updated to a fantom or another 2 pole esc or do you just deal with the overpower warnings?

Check out some of my new videos on the car. I had the same issue. The Mamba X isn't powerful enough for the 3.5t motor. You'll have to find another ESC. I've used Hobbywing and Tekin and they both work well.

This is a SC5M, the M being the mid motor version of the car.

Gearing is still the same as what it was with the 7t motor. I'll have to check again to be sure but I'm pretty sure it's 68/20

What gearing did you use if you don’t mind me asking?
I like to start around 4:1. I run an 81t spur and anywhere from 19 to 21t pinion

This 3.5t is definitely fast so I know you'd get some crazy speeds with a 2.5t

Hey so I have a mamba X and just put a 3t drag master in and it cuts out and i lose controls and start twitching
The mamba X doesn't have enough power for a 3t motor. You'll need to look into a new ESC.

@@shawnj2319 The Mamba X wasn't enough for the 3.5t. You can see in some of my newer videos that I had the same problems and went to a different ESC

What’s the best drag motor for 2wd car??
I've been impressed with this Drag Master Motor so far. I can't really give you an answer on whats the best since I haven't run anything other than this motor and the Reedy motor I had before.

No I never went into detail on installing the motor. Its pretty easy to do, once the spur gear cover is off its just two screws to remove the motor.

It depends on your setup and if the ESC and battery can power it

From what I hear the SC5m chassis is hard to find now. The DR10 suspension is not a direct bolt on from what I have heard

@@FullThrottleRCdo you drag I have a R1 9500kv 3.5turn with MMM8s esc in my rustler 2wd what gearing do you recommend I have 76spur on 24/ pinion on right now on 2s it’s hitting like in the 50 55mph at like 2.7 seconds at 132ft
@@rclunatic I was told with a lower turn motor like that we want to take advantage of the high rpms so actually going up in gearing has helped a bit. I'm running an 81t spur and 20-21t pinion.

@@rclunatic not with the timing on the motor itself but I have added timing through the ESC tuning
