I did not know about Irú, and had to Google it. In Togo, it is called Afinti.
Irú or Eware (Edo) is a type of fermented and processed locust beans (parkia biglobosa) used as a condiment in cooking. Similar to ogiri and douchi, it is very popular among the Yoruba & Edo people of Nigeria. It is used in cooking traditional soups like egusi, okro, ewedu and ogbono soups. [Wikipedia]
Iru is ogiri eh?!
I'm Ibo and didn't know this. 🙆🏽♀️
@@boochi7087 iru is not ogiri but it is similar because they are both fermented and they smell

Looks delicious, wht rice did you use please, i love the grains. Thank you
This is the first Jollof Rice I've seen made without tomato paste and tomatoes.
Looks good anyway!
Nice observation! I was planning on making this without tomatoes anyway because it gives me heartburn/ reflux.
I lovenit 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This looks great! Any substitutes for Iru?
Try to find an umami seasoning for a substitute but Amazon also sells locust beans aswell
What kind of beef are you using? Good video!
Nom nom 😋 😋 😋

نريد الترجمة بالفرنسة أو العربية لو سمحت الله إعطيك الصحة ،👍🇲🇦
Naija 🇳🇬❣️
Did you use beef broth from the beef or the store bought ?
😋😋😋😋
Can’t believe I’ve never had jollof rice before but how BOMB do these look 😱😱 Feeling kinda embarrassed now 🙈
Jollof rice is the bomb 💣
Amazing cooking, Senegal and Ghana should come and learn here.
Please which rice did you use
Pls which kiki is this? That of Jenifa's diary or another one
Looks yummy 😋
Why did you cover it with foil while cooking? Is there a particular reason for that?
What brand of rice do you use
👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hello please can I use just panla and crayfish for the native rice? I don’t have the type of dried fish you used.
Of course you can
Parsley😊
Kiki pls what’s ur brand of rice?
Cook for 20 minutes on low or high heat...?
Kikifoodies - I noticed you didn’t add Tomatoes to THIS Jollof recipe as opposed to ALL of your other Jollof videos! Any particular reason you chose to omit tomatoes? Do you have family & friends who don’t include tomatoes in their Jollof? This presentation is so vibrant & beautiful! 💜
Native jollof rice does not need tomatoes
Pls was the rice first parboiled?
Please what do you guys mean by washed rice? Does it mean pre boiled or just that you washed it with water to clean it first?
washed with water several times. ☺️
@@Kikifoodies thank You!
Can I leave out the shellfish because my children are allergic to them?
It looks so yummy
Thank you 😊
This look delicious!!! Where did this dish originated from??
Ghana
Actually, it's a Nigerian dish also. The iru (little black seeds) is optional. And you could go for any dried or smoked fish.
Jollof rice is originally a Senegalese dish. Nigerian and Ghanians also prepare this dish using different ingredients. This particular style of preparation with palm oil, basil, roasted prawn, crayfish, herring fish, and fermented locust beans is called local palm oil rice in Nigeria.
Is the beef really soft ?
What's the importance of the fool against juts ordinary lid?
Have you ever tried this with olive oil or regular oil instead of palm oil? I once tried this, but the smell of palm oil bothers me soooo much. If it's not garden egg sauce, I don't want to smell or taste palm oil 😬
Ma please which one is lru is it locust beans
Who else clicked because of the thumbnail 🤤😋
How do you make sure that the basmati rice does not become too mushy and over cooked when you put it in the tomato sauce? It seems basmati cooks faster than parboiled
I usually wash it over and over and use less water
@@kozyz6155 thank you!!
Please can I use scent leaf and the meat c
I use goat meat
Can you pretty please cook banga soup on your upcoming video 🥺🙏want to cook it for my husband ❤️
Damn, I wish I was that lucky husband
@@g.o.a.t9804 luck is false. (Jesus Christ saves!)
What is Iru?
Anyone else heartbroken cause they're allergic to shellfish? 🥲
I'll figure out some substitutes though, cause this looks so bomb!
Aww.... you can always leave the crayfish/bonga out tho
@@Kikifoodies oh, so thats what i missed? i didn't see that added in the span i have a short attention fuse
Is that a stove or what?
