-> ghostrick so cute boss with the two level twos
-> overlay for mischief
-> search shot
-> revive the so cute boss
-> make another mischief
-> utopic
-> UFD

@@aznpersuasion2008 Yeah first thing I’d say is that you can usually play around any one specific hand trap, and often combination of two, so there’s a certain amount of non linearity in figuring out how to pick the most pertinent hand trap to play around. You have mannequin cat and UFD and they both play around/punish different things. Imperm droll and ash all stop access to one of judgement fountain or ufd so sequencing relative to the hand you’ve drawn is the thing that takes the most time to learn with the deck.
As for side decking, Runick decks really only have 5-8 slots for non engine so it is difficult. Your best bet is high impact hand traps and breakers.
Something really tech-ey you can side is a single copy of Gendo the Ascetic Monk as a judgement target, which will basically completely floodgate link decks and Floo.
You're not the only one mate, I did top 4 too at WCQ Paris (250 players) a year ago with Spellbook Runick and bubbled at YCS London. Happy to see someone else playing the deck tho :)
That’s awesome! I was not massaging my ego, more so emphasising that my decklist was not created in a rush to garner views, but that my techs come from months of experimenting.
I'm not really interested in playing the deck right now, but watching this profile was super educational when it comes to deck building theory. Much appreciated!
Im so happy to see an update to this deck, it has been my go to for a while now and part of the reason i got back into the game to begin with. Seeing the ways you've changed it are exciting and frankly exactly what i needed.
The idea of mannequin into droll to get jowgen is beautiful.

Seeing as you play 14 Spellbook cards(I definitely think playing 1 Master should be considered), you could easily Smokescreen into Naturia (3Camilia, 3 Mole, 3 Blessing,1 Sunflower 1 Sacred Tree, and 4 floodgates of choice)
So far, ive won a majority of my local matchups with the Smokescreen Side, but the Runick Spellbook deck itself is so fun. Im glad youre showcasing this build. Ill be sure to look into getting 1 more ultra Slumber so i can play 3!
heyman im looking for a runick coach so bad.havent played much since 06 but have fire king deck and the runick spells. i just love runick and hate the new yugioh meta lol
The only real issue I see is how this will play around droll which seems to be a very powerful card this format.
As discussed in the video, droll is a spell caster so you make mannequin cat and then special jowgen from deck.

If anyone can offer some advice to a noobie that would be great.
I just returned to Ygo after a 20year break, picked up Runick as it remindes me of my spellslinger deck in Magic.
I attended my first locals, lost three matchups and won one.
My local meta is mostly Kashtira and Labrinth.
I'm filtering through youtube looking for Runick strategy and ways to improve my deck. I struggle with convoluted combos, and enjoy either playing control or aggro style decks in tcgs. Any advice would be great.

Tested this deck a lot, would be busted if runicks didn't skip BP, sadly is too slow imo, deck feels like direct downgrade from runick bystial, still extremely fun to play however!😊

Start winda stunning along side with jowgen is alot of stun/disruption
I've been using a very similar deck for along time, one thing I learned is you don't want to grind, this decks grind game relies on runick, and it isn't outgrinding other decks
That was how I originally tried the deck back in 2022 before my top! Winda and Jowgen 'overlap', and I'm not always opposed to end boards with converging floodates, but here there isn't much synergy. Spellbook runick has limited non-engine slots as is, and Nadir servant would simply eat into that for not providing anything the deck doesn't already do.

no secret village??
Secret village is also a field spell, and so conflicts with 'Runick Fountain'. Spellbook of Wisdom can protect Jowgen from spells and is searchable so it does the same thing anyways. :)
that Jowgen isn't legal for play :/
I wouldn’t use it at a regional, but I’ve never had a judge complain at a local level event since it isn’t discernible from a regular card. =)
