A lot of White parents tell their kids to follow their dreams. Typically because they’ve been in their countries for more than a generation and so if their kid fails they have backup plans and $. For Asians, 1st gen especially there is no backup plan. Everything is on you so there’s no room for “follow your dreams”.

My late granma said that we should do what we good at, regardless what we love. What we love doing are hobbies. Find what we are good at that has highest earning potentoal, and is "tolerable". then have fun time to time with the hobbies. Because most of the time, the thing you love will feel grueling when you have to make money from it. So might as well find what you're good to maximise your earnings.
But also dont give up your hobbies cos you never know how you will earn.

I watched a lot of the Netflix specials. Even Google which is funny and what to watch. Most of them were so bad... He's really good, might even buy prime just so watch the full one. Btw on Netflix there is the improv comedy from middleditch, the other guy from silicon valley, and schwartz from parcs and rec. Highly recommend that.
